Climate Depot reports: Weather Channel hypes report claiming ‘Climate Change Will Mean More Stress, Anxiety, PTSD in the Future’ – Growing ‘substance abuse’ due to AGW – Expect ‘broad psychological impacts’
This is based on a new report, “Beyond Storms and Droughts: The Psychological Impacts of Climate Change,” by the American Psychological Association and ecoAmerica, an environmental advocacy group devoted to climate change and sustainability issues.
That means a future with heightened levels of stress, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, as well as a loss of community identity – if nothing is done to stop or slow emissions of industrial-produced greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
“The striking thing is how these effects will permeate so many aspects of our daily lives,” said Dr. Norman B. Anderson, CEO of the American Psychological Association, in a press release announcing the report.
“We can also expect increases in long-term stress and anxiety from the aftermath of disasters, as well as increases in violence and crime rates as a result of higher temperatures or competition for scarce resources.”
Due to global warming, ‘expect more’: ‘Substance abuse, Mental health emergencies, People experiencing “solastalgia“: (felt when suddenly dislocated from their home), Loss of autonomy and personal identity.’

If I could here, I would proffer one of my next essays for the maybe somewhen next book. It is based on Robert Frost’s famous poem, Fire and Ice. You all can take it from there yourselves.
This sounds similar to Educators Disease. I suspect the cure is similar also: isolate the infected individual so they cannot pass on climate-induced PTSD to the normal populace.
The stress will come along with the electric bill. Its difficult to fathom or even accept that this idioticity even exists among the people who supposed to be trusted and relied on for help with real problems not created fantasies.

So far there is not even any scientific evidence of the existence of “climate change” beyond the undeniable fact that climate has and always will change.
It is quite possible that the continual barrage of alarmist “end of the world” propaganda may lead to the kind of nihilistic fatalism that characterised the 70’s and 80’s with the imminent threat of all-out nuclear war.
Already the state of all the garbage that gets published as climate “science” could seriously be regarded as indications of a pathology.
It is long over due that this affliction be officially recognised and those publishing this kind of alarmist garbage, probably in all sincerity, be given adequate care as well as all those less well versed in science they they have managed to scare the shit out of.
Likely these afflictions will only affect those who believe in the tosh, what a relief and what fun.

Shouldn’t “The Weather Channel” be renamed “The Storm Chaser Channel”? Seems that’s all they ever do anymore, even when the storms they chase are long past.
As far as “more stress” goes, Ma’ Nature has been showing for, what, a few years short of 20 years?, that she is not a Climate Model. Stress for CAGWer’s.
For more grounded people, “more stress” because law makers and presidents seem to be listening to what is groundless.
What’s actually causing anxiety and depression are the lies told by “scientists” and politicians, who wish to scare naive and low-information people into believing there is a human induced climate crisis that actually doesn’t exist.
Furthermore, the expensive and wasteful spending conducted by politicians to address a “climate crisis” that doesn’t exist, leads to: increased taxes, increased prices, lowers living standards, higher unemployment, increased national debt and other economic hardship.
It IS a proven fact that money problems cause a tremendous amount of anxiety and stress in peoples’ lives, so in that respect, the economic hardship being caused by the CAGW scam is creating increased stress and anxiety, but not for the reasons purported in this paper.
And what kind of trauma will be caused for the prognosticators of doom and catastrophic scenarios ( all of which require more taxes and less freedoms ) ? It is as though we are getting to watch in real time the machinations of an acephalic organism determined to drive humanity back to the stone age (saving the planet) and or death camps for “processing” (saving the planet) whilst maintaining wealth, privilege and power ….. (saving the planet for themselves), gosh I hope I am wrong.
Let us not forget that climate change will create more prostitutes too. When will the insanity end?
Hummm, I would think it worth the research to identify how this topic relates to basic a dependency response.
I would place bets that those who are independent of subsidised existence don’t have this problem.

If the effects of CAGW were REAL, they couldn’t make that case. Every psychologist who has any pride, and I do mean ANY pride, in their profession should be speaking out against this. This doesn’t even amount to propaganda. It amounts to mental abuse that this very profession is sworn to protect against, not participate in.
This from a group of (Doctors?) that are able to invent a new illness to fit any situation. Psychology has too much latitude to define what it needs to treat.
As a clinical psychologist, this nonsense sickens me and only reaffirms my decision to stop being a member of the APA. Not met a patient yet who is concerned with “global warming”, but rather their stress arises from job loss and inadequate income (aside from their own poor choices and relationship issues), all of which will only increase with this administration’s economic and energy policies. Personally, I suspect this is the start of a move by the APA to get their hands on some NIMH grant $$ to study the “psychological effects” of climate change… smh.
I am a mental health provider of almost 14 years and specialize in PTSD, etc. This is complete bullshit and I agree with all the posts that indicate an intelligent answer, i.e. that the warmist bullshit is what is causing the problem, i.e. a self-fulfilling prophecy, i.e. I cannot wait until I have a warmist needing therapy due to his PTSD caused by no one believing him or her!!!
