2014 Bloggies awards and "Climate Duplicitist of the Year", the award goes to…

We report the winners of the 2014 Bloggies awards and “Climate Duplicitist of the Year”.

Readers may recall the voting earlier on both contests, and now the results are in. First the Bloggies, as recorded on Twitter tonight:

Congratulations to all. I really had hoped Donna Laframboise would have placed first in that last category, but my sincere thanks to all who voted, just the same.

The poll for “Climate Duplicitist of the Year”, now closed, revealed a clear winner

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Mann. The award to Dr. Mann will be sent next week.

@Pointman. Not sure if you were nominated but your blog contains some excellent posts.
@WUWT. Congrats. Hard to slow down a steam roller.
Nice to see CA get some recognition.

Congratulations to WUWT, as real triumph of sanity over stupidity! However, this has not been reported on our beloved PDRofEU totalitarian state broadcaster, the BBC. Instead, they’ve have dutifully reported that the UN IPCC has declared that Climate Change is going to be much worse than anybody ever thought! More storms, rain, drought, dryness, deforestation, hurricanes, tropical storms, floods, disasters………………….you name it, they’re calling it!
—————————–
but now they have shot their bolt there is nowhere else to go. I think by now most people will shrug and go well if it happens it happens ” so far so good, the supermarket is full, the shops are full”
or they can keep going “it is far , far , far worse than we thought the far worse was going to be before the far worse we mentioned after the far worse we warned about after the far worse a few years ago”

Anthony… as I was reading through the comments ‘here’ I had an inspiration. Perhaps you’ve already thought of this, but it occurred to me that hockey pucks with head shots of the many Climate Duplicitists embossed on them, might make an interesting addition to your WUWT stuff offerings… would make a great ‘collectables’ series!

I suggest sending to Dr. Mann a calendar with 6 months of pictures of good scientists and some of their appropriate quotes and the last 6 months of bad scientists with their quotes.
For example, January would be Albert Einstein with his quotes about not needing 100 scientists to prove him wrong and no amount of experimentation can prove him right, a single one can prove him wrong. (The exact quote will have to be researched.) February could be Galileo Galilei who had to defend his belief in Copernicus’s works because the consensus said otherwise. And so on with other good scientists. Then starting in July, bad scientists stating with Trofim Lysenko. And so on with more bad scientists, but do not put any “global warming” scientist in the mix on purpose.

Too bad the poll data was made public. Would’ve been a gas to withhold it from Mikey.
Perhaps someone could torture the data to make Trenberth the winner?

Or maybe Gleick will impersonate Mann to accept the award?

Congratulations to all of the winners, especially WUWT. It was never in doubt. 🙂

+1
The farness of the worse is inversely proportional to the number of people who believe it !!

Double-barrelled congratulations again, Anthony. And good luck next year when they remove in turn the categories you and the other sceptic sites won this year … 😉

Thanks to Alan the Brit (March 31, 2014 at 1:36 am) for bringing us the report on the coverage of the latest IPCC report by the BBC. A virtually identical agenda was brought to us via our (Canada) CBC (radio) during the first hour of the program “The Current” plus newscasts that quoted Pachauri, etc. The Current had interviews with several people, none of them with a background (that we were told about) in any branch of science (one of them being the national head of the Green Party). They were just endlessly recycling what they had been told, and there was no sign of scepticism shown. The same is true of all CBC programs that I have heard.
When I returned to Canada in 1993 I used to regard the CBC as a kind of continuing education. Now so much of it is given over to lefty causes, like climate charge.

Bloggers like Laframboise and Ridley who don’t allow comments on their blogs should never have been in the running anyway.

@oldfossil – if the category was quantity or quality of comments, I would agree with you. But I read nearly every Laframboise article (which I will admit is more than the posts here). Why? Like you, I do get wrapped up in the comment side as well. But I know if I read her article, I will not get bogged down in the comments. I can come here (or several other blogs) and point out an interesting aspect of her articles (although chances are better than good that Anthony will beat me to the punch) if I feel a need to comment.
But perhaps you are correct. Maybe there needs to be a category of non-commentable blogs. In any event, I will continue to read her blog for its insight and educational benefits.

“Climate Duplicitist of the Year” has a nice ring, but not quite prestigious enough. I’d like to suggest a more distinguished title recognizing previous outstanding duplicity.
I believe that Gleick should not have been a nominee this year as his exploits occurred years ago. As such and due to his stellar contributions to duplicity, I’d suggest that the award be named in part for him to recognize these exemplary achievements.
Something like: “The Climate Duplicitist of the Year Award in Memory of Peter Gleick’s Chair of AGU’s Task Force on Scientific Ethics”
Now that has a ring to it!

Forget the bloggies (congrats to all, of course) but Donna Laframboise deserves an Order of Canada award for her courageous, dogged pursuit of the IPCC and its chair. …”

Does Canada have such an award? Then I agree! Donna Laframboise for the “Order of Canada”! It’d be cool to watch her get the award in bare feet. Let the eco-loons in their synthetic and leather shoes and clothes watch in envy.

Should the “Climate Duplicitist of the Year” actually get 2 identical awards?
You know, to drive the point home…

Congrats on this growing sidebar … just from the bloggies there’s:
Best Science Blog .. 3 times & done
Weblog of the Year .. 2 times and one to go
Lifetime Achievement .. once & done
and now,
Best Group or Community Weblog .. first time and two to go.
And the company ain’t bad either … Jo Nova, Climate Audit, Tallbloke, GWPF, & Small Dead Animals. Pity that No Frakking Consensus didn’t make the final cut. Maybe next year she’ll stand a better chance with Lifetime Achievement.

Well done to you and Jo, I look at all my emails and it takes hours, but I want to be up to date and I have to thank you both for that.

I’m still waiting for my check from Koch Brothers and big oil for my WUWT promotion and proving Climate Changers wrong. So why do I do it for nothing?
For the love of Truth, Justice, and the Watts Up With That way.
Congratulations Anthony and Crew.

Ah the design,I liked John’s suggestion of a mirror, perhaps two mirrors or just a split mirror with one half mounted upside down and the frame fashioned from that Yamal tree! Now for the runner up award perhaps call it the yellow snow consolation prize in recognition of the stain he left at UWA.
I am sure those prizes will be valued in years to come. Maybe present them through their friendly media outlet with Press Release. The Lewandowsky media release could be leaked to create advance publicity for the duplicity award.
Congratulations to all the blog hosts who are doing our hard lifting every day of the year, well done.

So Michael Mann got a real prize for once! Next year maybe he’ll get the “nuisance lawsuit filer of the year” award!
