Social Good Summit turns to hatefest – Al Gore likens skeptics to racists, homophobes and violent alcoholics

The “Social Good” summit in NYC going on today bills itself as:

A three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions.

The Social Good Summit is a three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions. Held during UN Week from September 22-24, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and

technology to solve our greatest challenges. The most innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists will come together with one shared goal: to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, and then to translate that potential into action.

But it seems that thanks to warmists Al Gore and former Senator Tim Wirth (the guy who turned off the air conditioning and opened the windows at Hansen’s global warming hearing in June 1988) it has become a hatefest against climate skeptics.

Video follows:

Then Tim Wirth had this to say during the live video feed:

“Skeptics are ‘truly evil people”

Wow, I wonder if these guys realize how unhinged they sound in the current dynamic?

Niff,
Before you compare Gore to a a Southern Baptist Bible-thumper, be sure your impression of a a Southern Baptist Bible-thumper has not been formed by third person narrative produced by New York City socialists. I’ve lived in the south for a while now, and my only first hand experience of confrontational prosthlytizing still goes back to an obviously insincere vagrant in Boston Common, circa 1998. Question the whole narrative, not just the parts that poke out from under the tablecloth.

What did poodles ever do to deserve being compared to Al Gore? This is unfair. This is a travesty. Also, poodles don’t deserve those silly show grooming cuts, but that’s off-topic. Al Gore is more correctly compared with pregnant female mosquitos, really annoying pests that suck blood for their living.

Sorry Al this is just pathetic. You even makes a TV evangelist look honest. And you can tell he’s been primed by his buddies. “Hey Al tell them all the heat’s gone into the oceans and it’s sorta swirling round in there waiting to come out again” It’s frightening that some people are even taken in by this drivel.

“…oh yeah and don’t forget to mention that we’ve had a few volcanoes which have messed the figures up” “Great can I also mention the Sun’s got a bit dimmer as well?” “No Al for Christ’s sake Svensmark said that and we’ve said he’s an idiot”

Thank you, Roger Knights, for that information. I sure hope so. Thanks for taking the time to tell me.

And _Jim. Thank you, so much, for wiping a tear from my heart. Still working on that rhino skin. Humbling experiences are ALWAYS good, though (even if there was a misunderstanding, I know that I could stand some communication improvement, mainly in self-restraint). LOL, I am FAR too set in my verbose ways to change; I’d just have to stop coming to WUWT altogether. And that made me sad. I LOVE THIS SITE!

Talent Keyhole Mole, GREAT summary of the gore vid; fun to read.

Al, et al, are “reality deniers,” and should be referred to as such.
AFA the heat hiding in the ocean: ok, in the meanwhile, what is all that additional CO2 being added to the air doing? Are they suggesting that the oceans would be cooling the earth if the rise in CO2 had been stopped? Considering the heat content of the ocean compared to the air, if there were a mechanism transferring the heat to the oceans, then we should be safe from further temp rise for a few hundred years.

Now I’m feeling really bad about myself. Here I was thinking the pursuit of scientific truth was a noble cause. Who knew?

_Jim! What a generously gallant fellow you are. And after I yelled at you a couple of times for getting on Gail Combs’ case. You have been completely transformed in my eyes, today. Thank you. And, lol, I’m not going within 10 miles of that Weird Sister act mentioned above.

Janice, I seem to remember someone saying something about being “wise as serpents, harmless as doves.” If you make a particular comment that violates site policy, Anthony and The ModSquad will let you know. (This is Anthony’s “living room”, after all.) Beyond that, nothing wrong with a thick skin as long as it doesn’t become a calloused heart.

Why do you allow this guy to thread bomb with his cut and paste tired rhetoric about solar activity on this discussion. Isn’t it bad enough that he does this cut and paste act on every solar thread?
>>>>>>>>>
Tom, I can’t speak for AW, but my opinion is the “science is not settled”. WUWT runs the best website for folks seeking the TRUTH about climate. AW allows numerous posters. AW allows numerous folks to comment. The end result (hopefully) is that we all end up with more info to build our belief systems.
In an ideal society, we get to have our own beliefs. Some choose to believe in things that are not supportable. That is their choice.
Please do not to vote to shut down a polite commenter like Salvatore. You do not have to agree with him. You can oppose him. You can respond to him. But, do not choose to erase folks that have differing ideas.

Geran,
I agree with everything you say. I have been reading this site for a long time and am always appreciative of Anthony’s efforts and his policies. My bitch about this particular posting was that is was not a new idea or anything like that. It is the same old cut and paste post we have seen many, many times over. I do not see anything of benefit by simply reposting the same statement over and over again just because it is saved to a file and is easy to plug in. It isn’t even really appropriate to the subject of this thread.

Social Good Summit? ISTR that that great economist von Hayek said that when you add “social” to any other word, it either removes all meaning or turns it into the opposite. Hence ‘Social Justice’, ‘Social good’, etc
