BREAKING: James Hansen to leave NASA to be full time activist

james hansen arrested

I checked first, thinking this was some April Fools joke, it appears legit. (h/t to Tom Nelson and Skiphil)

Climate Alarmist Jim Hansen leaving NASA on Wed. to devote himself to legal and political activism:

Hansen retiring from NASA to press legal and activist efforts

At the same time, retirement will allow Dr. Hansen to press his cause in court. He plans to take a more active role in lawsuits challenging the federal and state governments over their failure to limit emissions, for instance, as well as in fighting the development in Canada of a particularly dirty form of oil extracted from tar sands.

“As a government employee, you can’t testify against the government,” he said in an interview.

In the interview and in subsequent e-mails, Dr. Hansen made it clear that his new independence would allow him to take steps he could not have taken as a government employee. He plans to lobby European leaders — who are among the most concerned about climate change — to impose a tax on oil derived from tar sands. Its extraction results in greater greenhouse emissions than conventional oil.

Dr. Hansen says he senses the beginnings of a mass movement on climate change, led by young people. Once he finishes his final papers as a NASA employee, he intends to give it his full support.

“At my age,” he said, “I am not worried about having an arrest record.”

If he wants to spend his retirement years polishing a turd missing its heat, I say more power to him. He can even add his sculpture to the museum dedicated to polished turds. Happy retirement Jim.

Hansen needs to go protest in China, get arrested and do some real jail time.

Goode ’nuff says: “Canadian oil is all over a town 100 miles from my home. They’re having a hard time with it. Will he be protesting there? ‘ell, I might join him!”
So you would advocate abolishing all use of oil; over a 10,000 barrel oil leak?
Even though Exxon has already cleaned up 12,000 barrels, a mix of oil and water two days after the accident. Exxon responded quickly enough to clean up 4,500 barrel mix by Saturday.

First time I ever heard of him I thought he was the guy that created the Muppets. Then I soon realised he didn’t create the Muppets, he just is one 🙂

Who is going to continue the important work of cooling the past and warming the present at GISS?

Hope Hansen understands the concept and consequences of perjury?

Dave in Canmore,
I met Hanson in person in New York in the mid 2000’s at a University of Columbia related Earth Institute Conference, it’s a long story, please don’t ask, but after that encounter I know he will not accept your invitation.
Like so many of his “ilk” my sense was that he only reveals his beliefs when in assured company that will not challenge his “intellect”. He appeared to me to be a moral coward.
If he did accept your invitation he would have to get past me first to get to Canmore to see you, not sure he would be in a good mental state to “converse” with you after the diversion.

Hi all, sorry I’m late to the party. You’ll love this.
Click on the image and look at the name tag of the officer arresting Dr Hansen.

Hopefully his departure will signal a new NASA that will not be dependent on Putin to transport our Astronauts to the Space station, since we no longer have that ability. NASA has been totally destroyed by this administration, we have lost a great Agency thanks in part to zealots whose agenda will lower the standard of living of all the world.

Who is going to take over responsibility for cooling the GISTEMP past?

James “1881” Hansen, out you go, notorious neighbor whose data archive deletes all temperature station data prior to 1881, so to ignore two additional centuries of direct, non-proxy evidence of a natural trend line that matches today’s mild warming perfectly.

Has he only just realised that?

Hansen wants a mass movement? How about we skeptics give him one.

@Kajajuk,
I agree that is a bad accident, I really like your report from your bike as you were writing it down with a quill (you dastertly bird chasing person) and sending it to us by (hopefully not stressing out) the Pony Express. But are you going to kill a cow when someone spills a gallon of milk?

Sideshow Jim.
Gillis’s reporting hints strongly he was eased out. I’m much heartened by the fact that the iconic photo of him is when he was testifying in 1988, surrounded by the hot corruption that was already eating him up.

Time for some pity. He’s in a real pickle. Look what he’s done to himself. He’s a hero to everyone’s grandchildren if it gets hot. If not, not.

i take full credit for Hansen’s firing — which is what it was. My poem did it! The eye of the poet had fallen upon Hansen and the powerful men who had been protecting him knew the gig was up. Such is the might of the weapon we poets wield! Poetry brought him down! His empire trampled! (see Arthur Edgar O’Shaughnessy.)
Old “Death Train” Hansen
Always Good For A Laugh
More holy-than-thou
He warns us of Venus
The only thing now
That hardens his penis
He rants at the crowds
A coot with the hypers
His mind in the clouds
A load in his diapers
He quotes from the Greens
— We work for the many! —
(Diversity means
The colors of money)
He quotes from the Reds
— Consensus is dictum! —
Good socialist heads
Are all up one rectum)
A fascist he cries —
This Goebbels of weather —
The truth is in lies
The bigger the better
So just like a skunk
His sight is alarming
His science is junk
There’s no global warming

What would you tell the President, Elevator Litella? Never mind.
Everybody on the train in to work had their heads buried in ‘The Economist’. Oh, wait, Hansen commutes more than halfway across a New Yorker’s vision of the U.S., by car.

I think Dr. Hansen would be pleased to be called, like Paul Revere, an “alarmist”. JP

Maybe he’ll show Trenberth which way his missing heat went–you know, one if by land, two if by sea.
At least the occupation of NASA by a false alarmist is over.

He doesn’t have a scientific leg to stand on! All his climate models have been completely wrong and useless to predict the future climate!
