EVALUATION

A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE ALONG

COASTLINES OF ALL ISLANDS IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. URGENT ACTION

SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.

A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE

CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD

COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER THE

INITIAL WAVE AS SUBSEQUENT WAVES ARRIVE. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS

CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND THE FIRST WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST.

TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT

RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI

WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL

QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE

CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS PICKED UP AND CARRIED

BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH

TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD.

THE ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIME IN HAWAII OF THE FIRST TSUNAMI WAVE IS

1028 PM HST SAT 27 OCT 2012MESSAGES WILL BE ISSUED HOURLY OR SOONER AS CONDITIONS WARRANT.

See on CNN here in the UK that tsunami warning for Hawaii has been down graded.

Checked Youtube for any videos from Hawaii. All I found were 3 videos which, in no particular order, blamed UFO’s, God and President Obama for causing the initial BC earthquake. Now, I’m no expert in religion, ufology or US politics, but I feel there may well be other reasons why this quake occurred ? 🙂

MODS: This one should probably too. It’s implying that weather forecasters are linking the earthquake to to hurricane Sandy – which the linked article does not do. As a westherman himself, Anthony probably won’t appreciate such comments and likely would have struck them down had he been able to be here.

Apparently Hurricane Sandy has been linked to the same area as the quake that hit near Haida Gwaii.

Belize used to be called British Honduras. I have lived in British Columbia for 45 years and have never heard “British Columbia should be given back to Columbia”. Obviously it’s a joke and I find no offense from it, especially since Columbia refers to a person and not to a nation. The Columbia river runs through much of B.C.
British Columbia is named after the great ocean god that sailed the ocean blue in 1492, or something like that 🙂

David,
The thing is, the pages of WUWT are filled with examples of people trying to link any and all events such as earthquakes, to CAGCD. We know it’s a ridiculous claim, but there propagandists out there making the claims, nevertheless. Might as well have some fun at their expense, eh?

I am in downtown Vancouver this weekend, overlooking the ocean, felt nothing and the seal levels are all normal.

Does that go for DC too?
The US might be better off without it.

Any chance this 7.7 Earthquake was result of Mann’s Lawyer doing an epic Face-Palm after finding out his client did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize?

Point taken that its a joke. I kind of guessed it was an attempt at humour. I am a BC resident as well. I just don’t get it. Perhaps someone could explain it to me.

Luther, I agree with your comment about warmists making ridiculous linkages but lets be careful we don’t imply those linkages are being made by Canadian meteorologists.
Unless you open the Weather Network link provided by Chris B, readers of his post might be left with the impression that the earthquake was indeed being linked to Hurricane Sandy – by the Canadian Weather Network. The Weather Network’s team of meteorologists certainly don’t link earthquakes and hurricanes and they are likely not fans of CAGW either.
I suggest we need to help out in protecting the credibility of meteorologists (and this blog) at all times.
Sorry Mods (and Anthony), the full moon must be making me a little owly and defensive about BC and the Canadian Weather Network.

Small wonder that you haven’t heard of the Columbians. After all, they’ve been extinct, as a people, for some time. What did ’em in was their tattoo- cult penchant for communal sharing of tattoo needles fashioned from discarded WWII hypodermics and filled with lipstick melted in some mysterious tribal concoction, with which they covered themselves in often bizarre, yet colorful designs. It’s said that the tribe had all been caught up in overlaying the graphic landscapes of their festooned selves with the latest trendy color, Lime Jello Sparkle, there towards the end.
Some have speculated that the Columbians were the original subjects of some dastardly government release of the vile AIDS disease, which original intent was to rid the world of tattoo parlors and such, before things got out of hand.
Some of their design influence has been preserved in modern tattoo culture and has been spotted as far away as East Orange, New Jersey.

I should have been clearer, the newscast was in Aus, don’t recall what channel, for a tsunami warning for Hawaii. Aussie newscasts with any thing to do with events like this are always laced with alarm.

This had been my focus over the weekend (what little time I had), as it potentially affected friends and family in the area and in the tsunami warning zones. Lots of aftershocks, some as high as 6.5.

Nope – we British are keeping it. We now have GM Erythroxylum utilising Pine DNA. Loves the near Arctic, grows to 100 feet in sub zero with no sunlight for half the year. Those New Yorkers won’t know what’s hit them.

I did, that is why you have no citation to counter those newspaper articles. Canada likes to act as if they are so environmentally responsible, yet in the dark of night send their garbage across the border to the U.S. Don’t take it personal, it is a fact.
