Dern it — the pic doesn’t have enough light to make out everybody.
Leif reminds me of my older German professor of systems-controls engineering at Va Tech. Nobody crossed that guy. Make a nonsensical from-the-hip response & he would deride you until you shrunk into your seat. But study hard & understand what he was saying & he’d put a kindly hand on your shoulder. I learned quickly not to take his gruffness personally and pay strict attention to what he was saying. A very effective teaching method.

Does this global alarm leave you flat
And just itching to strangle the cat?
Spare the mog: help’s at hand
Very soon you’ll feel grand
If you tune in to WattsUpWithThat!

Very nice to put all these faces to names.
Way to go WUWT team and MODS…all are in place to make this the ‘go-to’ place for real science with open discussions. Volunteer operated and done naturally and all at your own expense and time. That’s amazing.
And Willis – what’s your secret? You look so young for all the ‘life’ you’ve lived, should bottle that.

It’d be great to have a conference in middle earth; Nashville or Denver or some where. It’d be great to meet everyone.

With so much interest in the great folk that run WUWT maybe there should be a fund raising dinner on occasion to add to that Solomon oil donation! I would gladly pay to dine, listen and I’m sure laugh at a function involving you gentlemen. Reading about some of Willis’s adventures would pale compared to listening to him tell them. I am sure that there enough strange, unusual and hilarious stories that would make for a late night.
Now, you just have to come to Canada..

I see a glasses of red wine…if I can come to the next one I will gladly bring my mead that has been aging for just such an event. Might have to get a ride home though it is 17% and very dry.

Many thanks to all of you for defending science and truth! Well done.

Congratulations for heroic work to the handsome, scruffy, respectful, in-your-face crew. Anthony, you are a mighty leader. And to those not in attendance, I wish you some of that magnificent California wine.
At least Cali has something real of which to boast and crow about. Could we be at a new beginning? Thanks in large part to the WUWT inquirers and other bloggers-commenters-scientists who attempt to live the truth? Methinks the Mayan 2012 “reset” year might apply to the end of the social-justice-one-world-evil-empire folks (no matter how much they doth protest–first the Soviet Union, then the rest of ’em). Once the abundance of natural energy resources is realized nation-wide and world-wide, and with leaders such as you at WUWT, few will be willing to feel that boot on their necks. Cheers!

I believe that all students of science should read WUWT. You produce the best science site of all. You question and challenge scientific papers and the claims of activists. You show how CAGW models and calculations are flawed; how they do not agree with observations and experiments. You expose those scientists who refuse to reveal how they arrived at their conclusions and manipulate the peer review process. You show up the charlatans who have turned science into political advocacy and activism, where scientists are the high priests of scientific dogma and refuse to accept any criticism which proves they are wrong. WUWT is a site which holds true to the scientific method. It is the defender of the scientific method without which we return to the age of the witchdoctor whispering gobbledygook into the ears of the chief and tribal elders. I salute every one of you who contribute to WUWT and defend science as it should be practised.

praise for Anthony from Richard Muller
“lf Watts hadn’t done his work, we would not have reliable data today. The fact that he did that means he’s a hero; he deserves some sort of international prize.”

As I see it:
The reason why WUWT exceeds, is simple.
Unlike a couple of echo-chambers, Mr. Watts and team invite you to investigate.
In Natural Climatic Cycles there are some pretty diabolical maths and physics involved. This is the “keep you stupid tool” used by echo-chambers. ” If you can’t baffle them with brilliance – feed them a hockey stick… without data”. “Hide any divergences from the claims made in / from the basic hypothesis – with more hypothesis”. Echo-chambers don’t actually acknowledge the divergences – they make excuses….through the induction of added hypotheses. The actual “divergence” gets lost in the “pea-shuffle”.
Ideology, Post-normal science, is preached. Normal science demands investigation and TRUTHS exposed, whether good, or bad, for the hypothesis.
Mr Watts and Team, invites you to investigate the divergences from the claims made by and in the hypothesis and that doesn’t take a lot of maths or physics. If there are divergences from the basic hypothesis – Something is wrong with the hypothesis!
Ideologies attempt to teach you WHAT to think.
Normal Science teaches you HOW to think – And invites you to investigate.
I choose my Mentors very carefully.
Thank you!

Wonder if Realclimate could get a group picture like this. Maybe not a good idea, I would have to go to bed with all the lights on. Haven’t done that since watching Outerlimits when I was a kid.

Team WUWT.
No exaggeration to say the smartest group of brains on Planet Earth sat on that table.
Thanks a million to all.
