2012 Bloggies Awards – nominations open

Well, it is that time of year again. You can nominate your favorite blogs for top honors in the 2012 Bloggies Awards. As many know, WUWT won last year in the Best Science Blog category. This year, Science and Technology blogs have been combined into a single category, so the competition will likely be stronger.

Here’s the rules:

  • Only one nomination ballot and one finalist ballot may be submitted per person.
  • E-mail addresses are required to vote. You must use your own address and confirm the verification e-mail.
  • If you verify a second ballot, your first one will be replaced.
  • In the nomination phase:
    • URLs are required.
    • Your ballot must contain at least three unique nominees.
    • Weblogs may be nominated for multiple categories.
    • Nominees must suit the category they are placed in.
  • Weblogs may win a category over multiple years a maximum of three times.

The way it works is pretty simple.

1. You go to the main page http://2012.bloggi.es/

2. Scroll down for nominatiom forms

3. Fill out forms with names and URL’s of the blogs you are nominating (you need to nominate at least 3).

4. Confirm via an email sent to you (valid email address required)

For the Science and Technology category (presumably where WUWT would go) this is what the form looks like. You can nominate up to three blogs.

Note: in order for the nomination to go through, you have to nominate in three unique categories, so choose your favorite blogs in other areas too.

Nominations are open until January 15th, after that its handled internally for voting with 200 randomly selected judges.

I voted for WUWT, I see the competition this year is against various commercial technology blogs. News feeds from search engines have the same problem, the technology category is riddled with opinions and news of what the latest and best smart phones are, I mean there is a huge difference between advertising the latest gadget on the market and publishing news of the latest technological achievement.
And science news feeds are flooded with environmental and politically slanted articles. most of which is worthless drivel from publishers who hire teams of brain dead media drones.
I some times wonder how much energy is wasted by today’s so called “copy n’ paste” journalists and the hypocritical anthropogenic global warming movement backed by biased sellout’s who have a cheek to call them selves scientists, with their super computers and government funded central heated offices with an unlimited electricity supply.

Looking for ‘a little help from your friends’, Mr Watts?!

Yes, how scandalous to inform the readers of your blog about a survey about blogs.

Anthony, when did this blog start? It says that ‘lifetime achievement blog awards’ are valid for blogs started before 1 Jan 2007 (5 years – life in the blogosphere must be short, if not nasty and brutish…). I’m sure WUWT qualifies…

Check the right hand nav bar for archives – WUWT began here in Nov. 2006.

As always I’ve learned lots reading this blog. Keep focused and keep the info coming. Some of the articles can be quite overwhelming at times but the comments help explain things I would have asked most often.
Good luck to wuwt, ca and tb.
Science and tech? Well they are related but only like weather and climate 🙂

Thanks Ric. I missed the obvious place to look! Next, that “missing heat” must be around here somewhere…

So, do they have a list or are we suppose to just know which blogs we like and then post the URL’s?

Given all the posts about the Google search engine I thought I’d try them with “best science blog” – WUWT was on the first page.

Funny thing is is that this blog is quite entertaining on top of being quite informative. It’s actually entertaining unlike the fatuous, smirk-filled Daily Show or Colbert Report that I’m guessing you find entertaining. Now go laugh yourself into a tizzy watching Jon & Steve mugging for the camera.
