Al Gore's credibility wanes – just 24% now consider him to be an "expert" on global warming

With the upcoming Gore-a-thon set for September 14th, Gore needs an attention boost more than ever. And that’s not all, the number of people that beleive the sun has a role is growing. 60% of likely U.S. Voters think it’s at least somewhat likely that the level of activity on the sun, including solar flares and sunspots, has an impact on the long-term heating and cooling of the earth’s atmosphere. Just 22% feel that it’s unlikely solar activity influences the atmosphere’s long-term temperature.

From Rasmussen reports:

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that just 24% of voters consider Gore an expert on global warming. Fifty-nine percent (59%) do not think Gore is an expert on the subject, an increase in skepticism of 12 points since March 2007.  Another 18% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

While a plurality of Democrats (43%) considers Gore an expert on global warming, most Republicans (80%) and voters not affiliated with either major political party (65%) disagree.

Gore may disagree, but most voters believe solar activity has an impact on global cooling and warming. A narrow plurality gives human activity the edge over sun activity, though, when it comes to which one has a bigger impact on the problem.

Gore is viewed at least somewhat favorably by 40% of voters, with 14% holding a Very Favorable opinion of him. Fifty-three percent (53%) regard him at least somewhat unfavorably, including 38% with a Very Unfavorable view.

That’s some bad chakra. Even serial wailer Bill McKibben’s message on “weather is climate, it really is, especially when there’s a hurricane” is falling out of favor too:

With hurricane season in full swing, 41% of American Adults believe global warming is creating climate changes that lead to more extreme weather events.  But that’s down 14 points from June 2008 when 55% felt that way. Forty-three percent (43%) disagree and say global warming is not producing more extreme weather.

“70-90 years oscillations in global mean temperature are correlated with corresponding oscillations in solar activity. Whereas the solar influence is obvious in the data from the last four centuries, signatures of human activity are not yet distinguishable in the observations.”
Solar activity varies the solar magnetic field, which modulates cosmic rays levels. Cosmic rays seed cloud formation, thus low solar activity -> higher albedo -> cooling

The tight correlation between Democrats and those that believe in Al Gore shows this whole thing is politically motivated. And since the Dems believe Keynsian Economics is the way to prosperity (NOT!), is it any wonder they believe is the CO2 fairy tale? Both are absurd assumptions, as reality is showing with great clarity.

Takes Astroturfing to a whole new level! Now we know why he talked of a “grassroots” movement.

35 errors in Al Gores movie. By Lord Monckton who has repeatedly asked Al Gore to debate him on the issues but Al Gore has declined.

Now, which trailers do the 24% live in? The same 24% that watch Springer?

Dear all,
I have just found the article “The Sun Defines the Climate”, by Habibullo Abdussamatov, Dr. Sc. Head of Space Research Laboratory of the Pulkovo Observatory, Head of the Russian/Ukrainian Joint Project Astrometria.
You can read about it in my page at http://www.oarval.org/ClimateChange.htm
Dr. Abdussamatov is flying an automated solar telescope on the ISS and he knows a few things:
“Experts of the United Nations in regular reports publish data said to show that the Earth is approaching a catastrophic global warming, caused by increasing emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. However, observations of the Sun show that as for the increase in temperature, carbon dioxide is “not guilty” and as for what lies ahead in the upcoming decades, it is not catastrophic warming, but a global, and very prolonged, temperature drop.”
You can read about it at http://www.oarval.org/ClimateChange.htm (Climate Change, The cyclic nature of Earth’s climate).

Two comments:
1) AGW data analysis summary:
A warming globe requires the oceans to heat up.
They didn’t, so it isn’t.

2) Anyone else notice the similarities (in tone and circumstance) between Rahm’s “Dead!” rant, complete with steakknives, about Clinton’s in-house opponents, and Gore’s “Bullshit” brain-dump?

These polls are normally complete C.R.a.P. because they do not take quantum theory into account. It is impossible to measure an outcome without influencing that outcome. By asking the questions they are impingeing on the consciousness of people who may have no opinion on Global Warming and are consequently inducing such an opinion by their question. We have managed to isolate and remove many of the leading questions in polls, also many of the Hobson’s choice questions but the problem of creating an opinion by the very act of asking is still insoluble.
P.S. You have to marvel at the ignorance of an international “leader” who thinks the Aral Sea dried up from Global Warming. Sheeesh! I thought Kiribati was supposed to have sunk beneath the waves by now? How come it is still there for him to visit?

Scottish sceptic at 9 Sept 2.38 am. 774 pounds! That’s about $1700 AUD. Who would be mad enough to pay that much to listen to that jerk? No – just write letters to the local ‘rags’ and tell other people if they hire ‘The Great Global Warming Swindle’ from the DVD hire shop they will get more value for say four pounds than that B! Or you could all arrive in your tartan kilts and do a Braveheart ‘moon’ when he arrives. LOL If I know the Scots they would pay that much to see Madonna nude.

“Formerly one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 square kilometres (26,300 sq mi), the Aral Sea has been steadily shrinking since the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet Union irrigation projects.”
How is it climate change if they pumped the water out?

Oh, Mike86! How dare you ask such an inconvenient question?!
Clearly Mr. Ban knows no more (and quite possibly far less) about “climate science” than even Al Gore – or the IPCC and whoever dreams up its “unequivocally” successful Press Releases.
Which reminds me, if anyone’s wondering where the “talking points” we’ve heard ad nauseam for the last few years might have originated, look no further than the IPCC’s very own Feb. 2/2007 Press Release – which, interestingly, the WMO, one of the IPCC’s “parents”, had issued with the disclaimer: “For use of the information media. Not an official record”. The UNEP – the IPCC’s other “parent” – (and the UN itself) had no such compunctions [h/t PaulM via Bishop Hill]:
Evidence is now ‘unequivocal’ that humans are causing global warming – UN report
Evidence of Human-caused Global Warming “Unequivocal”, says IPCC [From UNEP site]
And of course we all know that Mr. Ban’s UN empire is a paragon of honesty, truthfulness and probity. NOT.
