Open question to WUWT readers: Will one member of the mainstream media — that was so quick to give page-space to Bill McKibben’s ludicrous assertions about Irene — even bring up these comments by Gore? Will Revkin or Bryan Walsh or ThinkProgress disassociate themselves and their orgs or simply assent through their silence?
Update: end of 08/29 Zero mainstream media outlets (except Fox News) covered Al Gore’s “racist” connections. The silence was not unexpected. Andrew Revkin was more interested (again) in interjecting his opinions on “acceptable” candidates for the GOP primary, a constituency that does not “fit” his worldview. Must be fun to coordinate your messaging with Paul Krugman.

One day climate change skeptics will be seen in the same negative light as racists, at least so says former Vice President Al Gore.
In an interview with former advertising executive and Climate Reality Project collaborator Alex Bogusky broadcasted on UStream on Friday, Gore explained that in order for climate change alarmists to succeed, they must “win the conversation” against those who deny there is a crisis.

“I remember, again going back to my early years in the South, when the Civil Rights revolution was unfolding, there were two things that really made an impression on me,” Gore said. “My generation watched Bull Connor turning the hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went, ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is that?’ My generation asked old people, ‘Explain to me again why it is okay to discriminate against people because their skin color is different?’ And when they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really started.”
The former vice president recalled how society succeeded in marginalizing racists and said climate change skeptics must be defeated in the same manner.
“Secondly, back to this phrase ‘win the conversation,’” he continued. “There came a time when friends or people you work with or people you were in clubs with — you’re much younger than me so you didn’t have to go through this personally — but there came a time when racist comments would come up in the course of the conversation and in years past they were just natural. Then there came a time when people would say, ‘Hey, man why do you talk that way, I mean that is wrong. I don’t go for that so don’t talk that way around me. I just don’t believe that.’ That happened in millions of conversations and slowly the conversation was won.”
“We have to win the conversation on climate,” Gore added.
When Bogusky questioned the analogy, asking if the scientific reasoning behind climate change skeptics might throw a wrench into the good and evil comparison with racism, Gore did not back down.
“I think it’s the same where the moral component is concerned and where the facts are concerned I think it is important to get that out there, absolutely,” Gore said.
Gore also took shots at Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who has lambasted climate change alarmists on the presidential campaign trail, and other politicians who dare to question the veracity of global warming science.
“This is an organized effort to attack the reputation of the scientific community as a whole, to attack their integrity, and to slander them with the lie that they are making up the science in order to make money,” Gore said.
Ironically, back during Perry’s days as a Democrat, the Texas governor supported Gore in his 1988 presidential bid. Perry became a Republican in 1989.

Nuke says
There is no other reason to oppose Kyoto, or Cap-and-Trade, or carbon taxes, except selfishness. Selfishness is just another form of hate. Racism is hate. Therefore, opposing the climate change agenda is hate. And racist.

Rubbish.
The fact that it would take tens of trillions of dollars to prevent .02 ° C of warming by 2100 even if the climate alarmists are correct seems like a good enough reason to me.
The doctors have a motto “First do no harm” The alarmists motto is “First do great harm then find out if it did any good or was even necessary.”
The precautionary principal says that there are many worse problems which must be dealt with first. And the money would actually do some good.
“… Al Gore, who paralleled climate skeptics with racists last Friday …”
Yes, Al Gore (Jr.) is still trying to come to terms with his (dead) father. Al Gore (Jr.) now says that he wants to steer the conversation using the same techniques used to quash racism. Perhaps if a youthful Al Gore Jr. had used these techniques with his father, Al Gore Sr., his father would have voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, instead of voting against it, as his father’s choice is now recorded for the remainder of history.
Obviously, the irony is lost on Al Gore Jr.
H.R. be careful you are insulting all the idiots!
“You have to win the conversation…” That, or perhaps have an epiphany that a troublesome truth was not as true formerly believed.
His Goreness is playing “Let’s Draw Parallels.” Fortunately, two can play at that game. And it’s my turn now. Although Climate Alarmism is a Totalitarian movement in its own right, the closest parallel that I can draw is with the Khmer Rouge. Both movements hate modern industrial society. And neither movement cares about how many people die in the name of ideological purity.
Have I left anything out? Oh yes, Gore is a flaming hypocrite, who’s in it for the money and for the fame. Well, all comparisons have limitations, don’t they?
So Al, I’ll see your gauntlet, and raise you a rotten tomato.
Not sure if anyone has added this in the 180 comments but I’ll add it for the reocrds.

Is he sooper serial this time?
He looks more and more like a used car salesman!
“And Anthony, to answer your question: No. Nobody in the so called “main stream media” or any of the others will call the Goracle on this.”
What network is this video from, I cannot tell? Maybe he produced it himself in his fortress of solitude, handed the pool boy a script and flipped the remote on the video camera.
But seriously, I don’t see Al being interviewed anywhere in the mainstream any more.
Any of the big name MSM comedians might have a field day by inviting him for an appearance, but they have basic morals and know better than to pick on the sick. It’s just too sad to be funny.
Speaking of Revkin and GOP primary candidates…
I have to wonder if Revkin and his ilk are suffering any cognitive dissonance with regard to Rick Perry. He mentions that Perry called bullshit on manmade climate change. But he fails to mention that during Perry’s tenure as governor of Texas the state became the leading producer of wind energy tripling the output of the next closest state California.
There is a reason that when Tipper Gore left that criminopath, she PROMISED A TELL-ALL BOOK to come out ‘soon.’
Notice how he shut up so fast about her you could hear a pin drop? That’s because she’s got a LOAD of goods on his – well, his sheer, EVIL.
The WIFE of the next PRESIDENT who LOST, doesn’t LEAVE him after some …. what, 30 years?.. for nothing.
Tipper knows what’s up with that wacko .
And she knew what to do to make him hit the end of that leash and sit,
like it was the #1 dog show on earth.
Gore is a failure. He failed to win one of the easiest elections in American history, and when he lost, his self loathing and self contempt forced him to start a NO KIDDING – TERRORIST MOVEMENT saying WE ALL SHOULD IMPLEMENT HIS POLICIES in SPITE of the ELECTION or
WE WERE ALL GOING TO DIE.
Now that we didn’t all die, we have time to sit back and reflect on just how EVIL Gore really is.
How SHAMELESS and PURILE, how SELF SERVING, and how much – LITERALLY,
a T.E.R.R.O.R.I.S.T. he really is. He TRIED to SWAY POLITICAL POLICY through INSTILLING FEAR FOR OUR LIVES if we DIDN’T IMPLEMENT HIS POLICIES.
That’s practically speaking the DEFINITION of TERRORISM: ATTEMPTING to SWAY GOVERNMENTAL POLICY through inspiring TERROR or FEAR of DEATH or SERIOUS harm coming to the people who DIDN’T DO WHAT HE SAID DO.
And yes he knows it hasn’t warmed since the mid 1990s, and he KNOWS why Phil Jones SAID IN 2005:
“The scientific community would come down on me in no uncertain terms if *I SAID THE WORLD HAD COOLED SINCE 1998.*
***OK IT HAS*** but it’s ONLY SEVEN YEARS of DATA (every year SINCE ’98 to ’05) and it ISN’T STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT.”
Nuke;
Apparently some of the slower among us didn’t get that you were summarizing an paraphrasing the AGW-Alarmist position and presumptions. Probably you need to use ‘sarc/ /sarc’ to warn the more literal-minded that you are not speaking in your own true voice. 😉
typo: “summarizing and paraphrasing”

“Uncontrollable fits of rage and inability to discriminate between reality and fantasy is symptomatic of tertiary stage syphyllis. This handily explains how a sex poodle becomes a crazed sex poodle.
Just sayin’ :-)”

Have anything to do with his lisp?
A medical doctor friend of mine, trained in Switzerland, was brought in during internship to a long term care room, and introduced to a nice man in a clean suit and he (and his three fellow students) were just told to “talk to Herr So and So, and find out what you can”.
They did, they found out Herr So and So was the DESIGNER of the Golden Gate Bridge. He gave them a LOT of detail, he was quite convincing. When the teaching Doctor stepped rudely in-between the students and Herr So and So, it was the first clue…things were not right. “Gentlement,
what is your diagnosis?” My friend and his associate were DUMBFOUNDED. The teaching Doctor knew he had caught them flat footed. He tortured them, “IT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS!!!”
After several minutes he finally revealed “Tertiary Syphillis – Delusions of Grandure”.
I think we can start refering to Al as “Mr. Tertiary” from now on.
Darned browser works poorly where I am. Gentlement should be GENTLEMEN, and the inadvertant carraige return, removed…
Max 🙂
“When they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really started.” Only a person like Al Gore can say something like that and totally fail to see the irony. Skeptics ask hard question and Al Gore and other AGW proponents just resort to name-calling and “big oil” ad-hominens. Just like the proponents of racial discrimination lost Gore will lose just because that very reason. Present some concrete and convincing evidence (photoshopped polar bears do not count) and I might reconsider.
He even sounds stupid. Didn’t he flunk out of divinity school or something like that?
I actually read his book. A lot of trees died to make that book (yes, a certain percentage of the paper was recycled, but in order to present Tipper’s photos properly they had to use a good bit of virgin paper).
Is he ever going to retire from playing the fool (but getting very rich doing it)?
No
It is time we hold a rally. It is time we air a 24 hour marathon whowing the world the mistakes of Gore. We, global citizens, will not be scammed by green scum. We have the right to truth. It is time to end the orewellian procedures of the left. It is time to debunk every pro-AWG webite and paper. It is time we bring back respect to Climate Science. We shall not be opressed of brainwashed! Vote out any offical that supports climate change! Dismantle the IPCC. Burn ‘the inconvinent Truth’.
Al Gore, you have picked the fight on the wrong people. People who know more about climate than Micheal Mann, Jones, Briffa, Wahlman, Doran and the members of your imagenary consesnus. We know that ‘going green’ means more green in your wallet. Don’t lie the oil and coal companies are on your side. I spend the rest of my freetime debunking lies.
