As reported by the NYT. Oops. Now we know why we heard the real Gore speaking, not just the made for TV version of Al. And… due to this story going viral, we get the “Full Monty” at last.
From AspenJournalism.org
These remarks were recorded in the Doerr-Hosier Center, where the event took place, through the center’s sound board. The reporter who recorded them, Brent Gardner-Smith, had a press pass to the event and was recording what he understood to be remarks that were also being streamed on the Internet and were therefore public.
Here’s the essence of Gore’s “bullshit” remarks in high quality audio, plus other highlights we haven’t heard before.
Below is the audio of his entire talk, nearly 90 minutes.
…and the highlights, with notes below:
:03 on the lack of online business models that can support investigative reporting
:56 On Tahir Square being more literal and metaphorical, including emergence of new consciousness
4:44 does not buy that the Internet is inherently polarizing
6:36 On assumptions regarding free markets
7:23 on the workings of the brain and distraction
8:39 our culture is based on distraction
9:00 on dominance of money in campaigns
9:37 fools errand to try and change campaign finance laws, but Internet can help
10:19 need for public square
11:14 has to be a neutral place to share common information
12:23 on effort to pin 9/11 on Saddam Hussein
14:18 recent debt debate also influenced by propaganda
15:19 on creating a shared reality online
16:18 problem-solving requires “a single reality”
17:11 reason can triumph over wealth and power, but in the TV age, wealth and power triumph
18:37 on the importance of New York and DC to PR efforts
19:39 how the debt ceiling debate was influenced by TV ads
20:19 share reality helped make the U.S. great, now we’re making bad decisions without it
21:05 tobacco interests fighting back on TV in the ’60s
21:47 On “The Merchants of Doubt” and tobacco regulation
22:46 On the use of propaganda in the climate debate. (The “bullshit” cut).
23:36 No longer acceptable to even use the word “climate.”
Didn’t Al used to raise tobacco?
In Australia we have a Prime Minister that blatently lied to gain office. She says she changed her mind. Now there’s nothing wrong with changing your mind, in fact it’s quite healthy to do so if the facts dictate. But I object strongly when someone changes my mind for me. I can’t believe the journalist don’t pick up on the fact that this is a blatent abuse of the democratic process no matter what your beliefs on the subject of climate change. But there again as when ever I email the ABC I always sign off — ABC = ALP
He would make a great World Wrestling Federation presenter
Does this mean that many people can listen without paying for the ‘privilege’?
Good!
It also means that the non-believers can listen to the rants and find out what he is really like.
Sounds like Al has acquired a taste for the elixir in the back of the wagon.
Gorelucious Maximus could actually claim he invented BS.
He should just go all in, yell BS and and declare that he is the president.
He’s that far gone.
Imagine if he tired to have a discussion right here on any topic. He’d be incappable of simple conversation.
Gore really comes over as thinking that he is some sort of demi-god, that what ushers from his overblown ego must be right. What an idiot and to think he could have been president of the USA!
If Big Tobacky were “merchants of doubt” then Gore and his ilk are Merchants of Fear. Mostly, though, I think he really just likes peddling his climate CRP.
It’s hilarious how he fantasizes that the MSM has been responsible for sowing doubt while the internet will be the salvation of his Warmist ideology, when in fact it is the exact opposite.
He will remain clueless and delusional to the end, when they put him in a straitjacket.
This is a sad case of a probably uber-high IQ’er without a lick of sense. I would understand, if this is the case, why the marriage did not last. You need a LOT of good sense to stay married till death do you part.
Among groups like this, swearing is a sign of how strongly they feel about things. Dropping an f-bomb or two is the height of discourse for these people.
If Gore really wanted to regain his status as a messiah for this movement, he shoulda dropped some f-bombs!
“They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message”
And Al, when did you get your science degree? For there are abolutely no scientitifc methods in demonstrating the hypotheses you espouse as “truth”.
Pot, meet kettle.
We have to carbon tax the world economy in order to save it?

RoyFOMR says:
OK- for clarification let me replace the words ’200+ individuals’ with 200 Million+ talented individuals!
Try again Roy! I believe the US population passed 200 million sometime in the ’70s. It’s over 300 million now.
=================================================================
I added the emphasis.
I won’t pretend that there’s at least 100 million people in this country with mediocre skills and intelligence. I thought Roy was being a bit generous. We’re suffering from the same problem Europe is. We’re breeding more of our less successful people and less of our more successful. I fear neither will end well if left to continue.
My question- Who is feeding Gore his “information”?
Gore is smart, but tragically misguided – he’s invested himself so deeply in this issue, he’s unable to change his mind – trapped in his own memes – what a waste of his own life, sad, very sad…
I just want to thank those 537 voters in Florida who kept this man out of the Whitehouse.
Al Gore and his surrogate’s (e.g., NPR, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NYT, LAT) are dishonest and corrupt. Instead of presenting the climate facts to the listeners and viewers, they all take the warming alarmists’ position and propagandize accordingly. However, they are being exposed every single day. Their fraud and corruption and dishonesty are on full display. They can no longer hide as they did decades ago.
Pamela, Pete-
There is zero evidence that Gore is particularily smart and even less for any high IQ. His academic achievements are ordinary, even below average, despite his advantages of private schooling and tutors during his childhood. While we were subjected to political ads showing him “on the farm”, his formative years were spent living in a Washington, D.C. hotel suite.
His vaunted book is just “cut and paste” and very similiar to his recent outburst.
Thanks to the voters of his home state, Fla., and, primarily, Ohio-had he won there the Florida results would not have mattered-the USA was spared from him as POTUS.
Given that the family wealth and influence that resulted in his initial political sucess was based on oil and tobacco holdings, and his more recent additions to his personal wealth are a result of smoke and mirrors and government policy subsidies, its hard to have any positive feelings or opinons of Mr. Gore.
When is Al going to reduce his carbon footprint to less than that of average human inhabitant of the planet Earth? When he does that, I might start paying attention to what he has to say.
Such tasty poetic justice being served this week– at least something good happened during the worst financial weeks in US history, known forever as the “Obama Downgrade”.
The results of Al’s CAGWist IQ Test
Test Question #237 – Something walks like a duck, sounds like a duck and looks like a duck. What is it? Pick one of the following.
a) duck
b) denier
c) the end of the world as we know it
d) millions of degrees
e) a masseuse
Al’s answer: Definitely not a). It’s tough to pick from the rest. OK, the answer is probably c) since everything I see is like that. But, if it is Saturday night it could be e).
John
PS – anybody else have other examples of Al’s IQ test results?
Al Gore has a right to speak, even to lie and talk about things he knows nothing about. Anyone who listens to him, aside for the comedic value, has been contaminated and may suffer from delusion. He has still not admitted there are any errors in his “Inconvenient Truth”. Even the title is a lie.
You know your Fearless Leader mantra is really in trouble: When you begin to imply that the masses you want to impress are knuckle-dragging morons, because they don’t share your ‘reality’.
Uber-high IQ test results do not automatically translate into school or life success. Some (as in less than most) of these students are very messy, have horrible pensmanship, no or very wooden social skills, and get average to below average grades. They can even become extensively involved in white collar crime as they get older, and may start up several ultimately failed businesses. Marriages are often strained to the breaking point. Gore reminds me of these kinds of students.
Hey MODERATORS!!
Thanks for the edit from ‘duke’ to ‘duck’.
I owe you a brew. I mean it. Where and when?
John
