Climate Craziness of the Week: Grist perpetuates the tornado to climate change linkage myth

Grist-logo.pngAnd of course they throw in all ‘extreme weather’ for good measure. But as they like to say, let’s ‘explode the myth’.

From the Grist website, an intro to what they say is a ‘must see’ video, following McKibbens ‘must read’ irrational rant.

Bill McKibben published a must-read op-ed in The Washington Post last month about the connection between climate change and recent extreme weather events. Now Stephen Thomson has combined McKibben’s words with striking footage of the events he writes about. The result is a chilling must-see video:

Chilling? Oh gosh yes, finely edited to be ‘chilling’, like a budget horror flick. But watch it anyway and “feel” the connection. It’s a Debbie Stabenow moment.

Then, calm yourself, and if you are so inclined (notice I didn’t say ‘must read’) read my essay on the issue, along with NOAA’s take on it.

The folly of linking tornado outbreaks to “climate change”

NOAA CSI: no attribution of climate change to tornado outbreak

Here in Eastern Australia we’re experiencing a cold snap which is the coldest for some 60 odd years and we’re talking 6-8C below average. of course the climate rationalist blogs are saying WTF, where’s the warming? and the climate catastrophists from tribe anthrakaphobe are saying-” it doesn’t prove anything- its just weather”. So, question – why is weather, “just weather” and extreme weather- climate change? What a difference the intensity makes.

I think NikFromNYC is spot on.
