  1. All is for the best, in this, the best of all possible worlds! 😉
Glad to hear it though, hope it’s really good for you!

  2. Anthony,
Come on, can we play 21 questions to get the reason out of you? Is it animal, vegatable or mineral?
    You tease.
    John

  3. Glad to hear that you have had good news. As a few of us still say in this part of the old world, lang may yer lum reek.

  4. Took me about 30 seconds, then it dawned on me. I think you got some news relating to your “well being”, and you are BEING WELL.
This is great. Continued blessing of this news…
    Max

  5. Anthony,
    I see two good possibilities:
    a) the UN asked you to succeed Pachy at the IPCC
    b) your good news involves paper, paper of the scientific variety
    Or maybe both.
    : )
    John

  6. My imagination is limited by my tribal indoctrination, so all I can say is that a good day for us Constitutionalists Capitalists is when we rob or oppress someone. Congratulations?

  7. Like others, I join in wishing you continued happiness. I am thinking the issues you alluded to in another earlier post are what may have turned for the better? If so, that is wonderful news. If not, I’m still happy you are happy!
You deserve all the happiness you can get!

  8. I like MWatts better than uWatts.
I hope you hit the lottery so you can spend Millions on getting media attention to your
    (our) cause.
    Love you Anthony…

  9. Yes, whatever it is, good for you Anthony, and we all appreciate your hospitality and perseverance, and wish you nothing but good days.

  10. We are all given so many days. And every day is a gift. It all depends on how we spend the moments allotted to us.
So – here am I – sitting on the other side of the world, spending a moment to send a wee message of grateful thanks to one very special person. Thank you Anthony. And I am glad it was a ‘good news’ day for you and yours. Robin (New Zealand)

  11. I’m sure RC will say that your good day is unprecedented… or it’s worse than they thought (you might even be happy!).
    All the best.

  12. I’ll guess what Anthony really means is: “Today is a bad day for the alarmists”.
Like Lewis and Clark, we’ve crossed the Continental Divide, the flow has changed.

  13. I assume this has something to do with earlier posts in which case best wishes to you and your family, it sounds like something went right

  14. Anthony, your good news is our good news.
That smilie reminds me of a sceptic in a sea of miserable warmists and doom-mongers.
I have to think of Rudyard Kipling’s If
If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
    If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build’em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

  15. I have absolutely no idea why, but like so many have already commented, I’m suddenly smiling and thinking happy thoughts…
Initially I thought it must be the prospect of the patter of tiny little feet, but then I saw your photo and realised that would be pretty unlikely 😉
So maybe it was just wind, but surely a weather man would know that was coming !
That leaves good news on the health front as the next most likely cause of your jubilation, and as someone who survived a cardiac arrest earlier this year (thanks to my wife and the paramedics) I can certainly vouch for the happy day feeling associated with that kind of news.
So on that assumption, best wishes to you and your family, live life to the max.
(On the other hand, if you’ve just won the lottery and decided to jack it all in and move to some low-lying tropical island ……. then stuff you, you selfish, smug, conceited, gloating, jammy bugger.)

  16. Anthony, I hope this link works for you.

I had a hard time choosing between this and “Blue Skies”. All the best to you and family.

  17. Anthony,
I think the economy will show a noticeable uptick on this day . . . exit everyone stage left to the local pub/bar and toast a few (or a lot of) libations to your good news . . . . whatever the heck it is.
    John

  18. No idea what this is about, but it made me smile.
(My guess: Blue faces are the days of someone not feeling so well. And one day of feeling great. May there be many more happy ones if I’m in the ballpark.)

  19. Anthony,
Whilst you bask in the glow of a GOOD day, derive also some degree of well-deserved satisfaction and pleasure from the fact that your simple hint has your friends world-wide sharing in that self-same glow, even though they know not what has made this day special for you. That you have publicly declared this day to be a GOOD day has brightened many other lives because that’s how much we all like you.
Whatever it is that has cheered you, all I can add to the many comments here is “Good for you! You deserve a good day. Enjoy!”
    Steve

  20. This is wonderful … I hope it’s about what I and many others are thinking. The very best to you and your family as well as the whole WUWT community.

  21. To know that awful video was pulled from the 10:10 website makes it a good day. 🙂
But this is probably something else.
Is it because you’ve recieved a donation so you can build your own website independent of WordPress? I’d be happy for that, so you could make more ad dollars!!

No pressure. No pressure at all.

“Good luck, Anthony, and thanks for this wonderful place.”
And thanks to the moderators as well! You must have been bloody busy after the 10:10 fiasco. Thanks for your tireless work!

  24. No … I’m not even going to ask … (Grr Snarl – wants to know …)
Whatever the reason, enjoy the day and may future days hold even better things in store!

  25. Maybe a juicy but unsubstantiated (and unsubstantiatable) rumor regarding tomorrow’s physics Nobel?

  26. And may you have many more.
“Only he who has travelled the road knows where the holes are deep” (Chinese Proverb)
Hoping things have turned a corner and your road ahead is much easier.

  27. Things always turn out best for those that make the best out of the way things turn out. Like climate, good and bad are human perceptions. May your perception always be good on the way things turn out. To that end, know that our thoughts/prayers are with you.

  28. Happy everything went well & wish the same for you & yours in the future.
glad the Vid sentiment is appropriate for you & a good reminder to us to be positive about our future as a race.

  29. When my wife’s diagnosis came out, that was the start of a string of bad days, but when the surgery was deemed successful and the prognosis was positive, that was a very good day indeed. I hope this is the start of many good days.
Your family have endured much during the last few years, and I hope this is a good day for all of them.

  30. Anthony,
I respect your privacy. In the final analysis – ain’t none of our damn business.
Whatever it is, I am glad for you. Enjoy it. You know…today wasn’t too bad for me, either. Maybe I’ll have steak and mushrooms for dinner… It’s certainly time for a beer!

  31. Whatever the good news (and we don’t wish to pry), mazel tov.
May good things continue to accrue to you and your family.

  32. Well thanks Anthony for sharing as much as you could, both today and earlier. Whatever it is, I know it will reflect your staunch humanity that has not just sat up night and day with the work here, but has led both the attack and the defence with unmatched fidelity, courtesy, good science, and good humour.
Heh – perhaps Phil Jones has ‘fessed privately to you that you have been right all along but he’s not yet ready to come clean to everyone. Perhaps you’ve had a windfall that now enables you to employ a secretary… or two… and a researcher… or two. Whatever. Blue Sky.

  33. Our thoughts are with ya mate, glad your having a good one, and heres to many more to come.
From an Aussie that appreciates how much of your personal time/money and heatlh towards our collective future.
    😀

  34. Very nice music. Got that harmony in tune.
It’s always darkest before it gets light, so, sure, be happy, the light will come back.

  35. I woke with a kink in my neck and couldn’t move for several hours. This brightens my day though – so many positive comments. Takes me back to my 1988 Army days.. 🙂

  36. The picture should be titled: “Guess who’s not passing the random drug screening at work tomorrow?”

  37. I hope they come along like London buses Anthony… you spend ages waiting for one – and then a whole bunch of them all turn up at once 🙂

  38. Oh good, does this mean you’re going back to your way too overloaded schedule? Umm, judging from the last week, I think you already have!
BTW, good job on the Watts Up With Nuuk? page.

  39. It wasn’t a bad day for me, until I read the preceding post and learned that the NSF is spending my tax money producing dramatic propaganda on the ‘crisis’ of [insert expletive here] ‘climate change’!
I’ll tell you what would make it a good day: if Anthony got a MacArthur grant. Not likely, I know. He’s not politically correct enough.

  40. Having a turnaround in one’s life and health is truly a blessing.
Wife and I have had one of those, this summer. Now making
plans to hike and Bike again…
(10 years of not able to do that together.)

  41. All the best Anthony. We take WUWT running for granted, something like the Sun going up and down, but it surely needs a lot of time and energy.
As someone pointed out before, you are a modern hero.

  42. Great, Anthony! And because of you and your blog, I had a great day, too. Anytime I can learn something new makes it a great day for me, and I have learned so much here. Thank you for providing me many, many good days! And I pray many more.

  43. Besides being well informed and truthful you are well trained in the art of teasing…
its a new day! (at least where I’m at) I hope smiley continues…

  44. My comment seems to have got lost / been removed?
Apologies if I said or did something wrong!

  45. If you take away the odd one everyone left would look like happy days if every day was a happy day.
