Speaking about the likelihood of climate bill being passed by Congress in 2010, Al Gore told a conference call of supporters tonight that, “this battle has not been successful and is pretty much over for this year.” Gore bitterly denounced the Senate and federal government stating several times, “The U.S. Senate has failed us” and “The federal government has failed us.” Gore even seemed to blame President Obama by emphasizing that “the government as a whole has failed us… although the House did its job. [emphasis added]”
Gore urged his listeners to take the “realistic view that they had failed badly.” Gore said that “Comprehensive legislation is not likely to be debated” and that a “lame duck debate” is a “very slim possibility indeed.” (N.B. We thought, because Gore told us, that “the debate” was over.)

Gore blamed the skeptics for “attacking science and scientists.” “They [the skeptics] did damage and cast doubt,” Gore said.

In a warm-up discussion before Gore addressed the call, National Wildlife Federation chief Larry Schweiger referred to the skeptics as “enemies” and that he hoped the alarmists would “outlive the bastards.”

I suspect Gore’s hedge funds and other schemes were long on US cap-and-trade and other energy legislation being passed this year.
A setback that might keep him out of the billionaires club for the moment.

Every time Gore flaps his mouth I’m proud to live in Florida.
I’ve recently solved the P = NP problem and offered my solution to community. Its really too bad that certain people in physics/mathematical fields want to see the written proof. They don’t really have interest in understanding why my solution is the correct one, they’re just on a fishing expedition to discredit science. I wont deal with these people and thus the proof will remain at arms length.
BTW, Gavin, can you delete the emails I sent to you on 2010/07/05.. Tell Mann and others to do the same thing.

Perhaps the debate can get back to being a grassroots, bottom-up movement, whereby people decide to make personal efforts to reduce their impacts on the planet, instead of having the opinions of others forced upon them.

It does not seem to have entered in CO2-belivers nor into the so-called CO2 experts heads that. A volcano leaks large amounts of carbon dioxide during its entire active period….. I do hope that you reading my lines understand why they do have problems using Mauna Loa, the world’s largest active volcano to estimate the changes in CO-2 leaking into our Earth’s air…. From September, thousands of British businesses will be liable for significant fines and charges under a new government “green tax” scheme. Companies that fail to register their energy use by next month will be hit with fines that could reach £45,000 under the new little-known rules. Those that do participate in the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) initiative by declaring their energy use will face charges for every ton of so-called “greenhouse gas” they produce.
These payments are expected to average £38,000 a year for medium-sized firms, and could reach £100,000 for larger organizations. Surveys have shown that thousands of businesses are unaware they are supposed to be taking part, or even that the scheme exists at all. The imposition of new charges and fines will put pressure on firms at a time when economists are warning of a “double dip” recession as companies, consumers and the public sector all cut their spending.
Business leaders criticised the CRC — which was created by Labour but implemented by the Coalition — as “complex and bureaucratic”. One accused ministers of swinging “a big hammer” at companies and questioned whether it would have any environmental benefits.
Under the scheme, any company or public sector organization that consumes more than 6,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of energy a year – meaning a power bill of about £500,000 – must register its energy use by the end of next month. From April, firms will need to buy permits for each tonne of carbon dioxide emitted. For those using 6,000MWh, that could mean £38,000. The scheme is intended to create a financial incentive to cut energy use, and those organizations that record the biggest reductions will get bonuses, funded by penalties imposed on those with the worst record.
Of about 4,000 organizations estimated to qualify for the scheme, only 1,229 have registered to date, leaving thousands at risk of fines. Missing the Sept 30 deadline will mean an immediate £5,000 fine, and £500 for each day after that, up to a maximum of £45,000. Another 15,000 smaller organizations are also required to register and could be expected to buy permits in the future. If they miss the September deadline, they face fines of £500.
One recent survey suggested that 53% of executives had not even heard of the CRC and did not know whether their firm was affected. Bob Jarrett, of the BHF-BSSA Group, a trade body that represents thousands of independent shops, said ministers had not done enough to explain or justify the CRC. “We’ve only come across this in the last few weeks, and yet the deadline is at the end of next month. The Department for Energy has not given this nearly enough publicity,” he said.
The Environment Agency, which will run the scheme for the Government, has refused even to publish a list of the companies that are required to register, citing the Data Protection Act. The Coalition is pressing ahead with the CRC despite Conservative pledges to cut red-tape on businesses.
…So there you have it. A scheme that has no environmental benefits will force your business (whatever size) to register with a government agency or face massive fines. Having registered, you then have to record how much “greenhouse gas” your company produces (at your own expense, of course). Then you just have to buy permits in order to carry on doing what you were doing in the first place, but if you buy too many permits you will also have to pay extra fines and penalties for your excessive “emissions”. And all this is because of the lying propaganda that has brainwashed a generation into believing that carbon dioxide is causing “catastrophic global warming”. That’s what AGW is really all about, and, thanks to Gore and his pack of liars, it’s heading for the US next.
Real scientific facts stick like glue and doubt cannot be cast on them. AGW was bad science.

I hope WUWT is and stays a blog where I can send my warmist friends to read up on the facts. The more we have a calm discussion of the facts, the more chance there is they will spend enough time on WUWT to assimilate the facts that free them from the warmist propaganda.
