Sure looks like a heat wave, doesn’t it?
Repower America Reports His View
By Al Gore from his blog @ algore.com
With all the climate deniers spreading lies about the climate crisis in the media, it’s vital we arm ourselves with the facts. Thankfully, Repower America put together a great fact sheet explaining the relationship between the climate crisis and extreme weather:
“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms
Record snowstorms need two things: temperatures below freezing, and very high humidity. On a planet warmer by a few degrees on average, the Northeast US will still have plenty of days below freezing; the big difference will be warmer seas producing higher levels of moisture in the air – and therefore more severe cold-season storms.”
“Fact: We can expect more extreme weather
Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”
“Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace
Weather in one region over days or months should not be confused with climate or the patterns of weather over decades and centuries. And the science is clear here: the last decade was the hottest on record. And to put this year’s weather in perspective, January was warmer than average for the continental United States”
============================
I could spend lots of time pointing out why each one of these claims is false, and that Mr. Gore is atcually the one who is the liar, by why deprive my readers of all the fun?
One thing Gore doesn’t mention: El Nino. Wonder why?
You can bet he’d be making the same claim if we had a below normal snowfall records too.

he leaves no way to comment on his “journal”. That is why we call it gorebull warming. Global warming causes everything now. More tornados, hurricanes and now snowfall, dry skin, oily skin, pimples, sleep apnea, chronic hallitosis, mild edema, flatulation, diarrhea, the price of tea in china to increase, it makes mountains out of mole hills, loss hair, sexually transmitted diseases, neurosis, psychosis, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!!! *whew*
Not in the Oslo I know. This February is the coldest in 25 years.

Here is one set of stats. Note that the 2010 season needs to be added in to reach a full decade of comparable stats for this decade.
Average # of hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 1851-2006: 17.9
# of hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 2001-2009: 18
Average # of category 3-5 hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 1851-2006: 6.2
# of category 3-5 hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 2001-2009: 7
Sources: 1851-2006 NOAA http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pdf/NWS-TPC-5.pdf
2007-2009 Wikipedia (I am sure others could find this on NOAA.)
Actually, from Table 6 on your site,
FACT: 2001-6 averaged 15. To get to the number you quoted for 2001-2009, 2006-9 would need to average 30 per year. I don’t think so. Maybe you ought to quit using wikipedia.
FACT:
Also, of the 7 major strikes from 2001-2009, six are category 3.
And the authors state:
FACT:
During the past 35 years, the United States has experienced three Category 4 or stronger hurricanes: Charley in 2004, Andrew of 1992 and Hugo of 1989. However, on the average, a category 4 or stronger hurricane strikes the United States about once every 7 years. This suggests we have seen fewer exceptionally strong hurricanes than an expected 35-year average of about 5.
FACT:
They’ve changed the description of what qualifies for a hit or strike. Does changing the definitions (in other words: adjusting the data) mean anything to you.
From the paper:
In this document, the term strike is designated to mean one of two things:
1) During the years 1851-1914 and 1990 to 2006, a hurricane strike is defined as a hurricane that is estimated to have caused sustained hurricane-force winds on the coastline, but does not necessarily make landfall in the area of hurricane-force winds. One example of a hurricane strike is Hurricane Ophelia in 2005, which remained offshore of the North Carolina coast but still brought sustained hurricane-force winds to the coastline.
2) During the years 1915 to 1989, a hurricane strike is defined as a hurricane whose center passes within the direct hit definition area provided above. The best-track reanalysis project is working to change the definition to be strictly defined by the winds, but for now the regional effects catalogued by HURDAT are in a transition period that could last several more years.
The LIE REMAINS:We can expect more extreme weather
Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”

Quayle? Dan Quayle! That’s it! He might just take on something like this; if he had a patron to cover his back against Soros’ mob. Anybody know the guy well enough to see if he’d be interested?
He’d be perfect! Two former Senators, two former VP’s, one left coast/new england, one middle america, one for global warming, one for global reason, one for wreck the West, one for intelligent action, etc., etc.. I know Dumb Al’s got a heck of a lead and a wad of million dollar bills already; but I have a feeling Big Dan could clean his clock.
Somebody must know the guy? Anybody know the guy?
And.. ahhhh… anybody know any real rich patrons that want to tangle with Soros?
It is likely that the equator was hotter during the Maunder Minimum, just as it is now
To be accurate, it is now north of the equator line and that warm area it is curiously tilted:

Any thoughts?
“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms”
?
No.
Climate change causes a change in the climate.
FACT: Snow = cold
I live in Canberra Australia and am looking forward to a metre or so of snow next winter. Now I have never seen more than a dusting in 30 years but what would I know compared to Al Gore’s intellect. When he was here the drought was being caused by AGW but now it causes more moisture in the air! So that must be why we are getting more rain. I just realised it is not that warming causes cooling it is that AGW causes any weather we don’t like.
There is only one strategy left, if odds of losing big business is at stake, as it seems to be after the Copenhagen fiasco: To forcefully apply cap&trade measures in every country where governments will be conveniently convinced to do so, of course by assuring them all the propaganda support needed.
Next summer season would be a good time.
In the US it is not longer needed any additional measure as people already swallowed and digested the enforcement through EPA.
So, apart from you, who else actually visits Al Gore’s website?
If global warming/ climate change caused the recent huge snowfalls in the East then what caused these other huge snow storms? These happened well before mankind had any significant carbon footprint and temperatures were believed to be colder than now?
February and March 1717
“The Great Snow of 1717” blanketed New England in a series of four storms, leaving nearly four feet on the ground and drifts up to 25 feet high.
January 1772
“The Washington and Jefferson Snowstorm” is so named because it trapped both men at their homes with snow up to three feet deep throughout Maryland and Virginia.
December 1778
Named after the Revolutionary War troops stationed in Rhode Island, drifts were reported to be 15 feet high after this storm.
November 1798
“The Long Storm” went down in history as the snowiest on record for that month. Stretching from Maryland to Maine, up to a foot-and-a-half of snow coated the region.
December 1811
A powerful storm buffeted New York City, Long Island, and southern New England, accompanied by gale-force winds and destructive tides that severely damaged many ships and harbors.
January 1922
The “Knickerbocker Storm” dumped over two feet of heavy snow on Washington D.C. causing the roof of the Knickerbocker Theatre to collapse, killing nearly 100 people.

“I just realised it is not that warming causes cooling it is that AGW causes any weather we don’t like.”
Isn’t it; AGW causes any weather.
OOPS I meant to remove the December 1811 storm which was not snow related.
Anyone else noticed this – Ofcom [media regulator in the UK] to investigate government climate change TV campaign – Guardian 24 February 2010: The media regulator has received about 700 complaints about the £6m TV campaign, Bedtime Stories, launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change last October … The climate-change campaign is already being separately investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority to see if it breaches the advertising code, after nearly 1,000 complaints.

Tough to get through all of the comments, but was this rebutted point by point? Obviously, he “forgets” about El Nino, but is he blatantly false in Point 1, by arguing that a big difference is “warmer seas producing higher levels of moisture in the air – and therefore more severe cold-season storms”. Do the warmer seas not contribute to big cold-season storms or is he negligent by not addressing that El Nino is the driving force in the first place? Thanks.

Fact: Al Gore created the world in 5 days (he sorted the net on the 6th); that’s why he’s an expert on meateorololologily.

@Allan M (03:22:23) :
re: … I have unassailable proof that Gore didn’t invent the internet….
Sure, because it wouldn’t work then.
I’m also very delighted, he didn’t invent the wheel.
Think of an quadratic wheel.
But what’s a little anachronism when you’re being post-modern? Such a little thing didn’t prevent Ada Lovelace from publishing the first computer program in her notes in 1843. (She is the reason that the Pentagon’s computer language is called Ada.)
White is black and black is now white according to planet Gore.
Meanwhile in the now ever warming terrestrial atmosphere, gospel according to the ‘fifth’ author, namely big AL Gore – what’s this……………uh!!
Oceanic Arctic sea ice is up to 13,297 sq km and its not even March!
Maybe Goracle – him speak with forked tongue, more likely………… poor thing he doesn’t get it because he is unable to assimilate simple scientific data sets.
A little off-topic, but I saw this wonderful definition of ‘carbon trading’ on an related website:
‘Its the non-delivery of an imaginary substance to no-one’.
And Al Gore and his ilk are in line to make $BILLIONS from this..??
Makes the South Sea Bubble and Tulip Futures look positively sane in comparison….
Re: sea ice and the comment by Thomas J. Arnold:
I look at the graph produced by the Japanese Space Agency on a daily basis.
This year’s graph is just SO average compared to those of previous years – surely the Japanese must be fiddling the figures..? Or is it ‘rotten ice’ that the satellites are picking up..?
Of course not – because this is completely unbiased and accurate recording of the actual area…
Another example of Gore’s grasp of science.
Always remember that AGW doesn’t stand for Anthropogenic Global Warming – it stands for Al Gore’s Wallet.
As an aside, why did Aleks Krotoski consider it worthwhile to include Gore in her recent The Virtual Revolution TV series? Oh yeah, that’s right, coz he invented the Internet.
Whenever I hear that inevitable term “Climate Change”, with its as-of-now underlying meaning of anthropogenic forcing, I cringe. To me, it’s akin to having someone draw their nails down a chalkboard at full stride. “Climate Change” used to properly refer to naturaly cycles, but not it has obviously been hijacked so as to cover all bases (If it cools, it’s CC, it it warms, it’s CC, if we no longer have snow, it’s CC, if we have record amounts of snow, it’s CC). Oh joy, the possibilities are endless!
I blame this all this crap on Roger Revelle, who spouted off a pile of hypothetical crap to one very impressionable Albert Gore Junior (Revelle later recanted and apologized, too late)
On the other hand, Revelle probably never imagined that Gore was going anywhere in his life and probably never gave it a second thought that Revelle’s little “joke” would snowball into an atrocity
Mr Goracle: “Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms..”
Fact IPCC says: “Confirmation of global warming comes from warming of the oceans, rising sea levels, glaciers melting, sea ice retreating in the Arctic AND DIMINISHED SNOW COVER IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE.”
And “MORE PRECIPITATION NOW FALLS AS RAIN RATHER THAN SNOW IN NORTHERN REGIONS”
And “Frequently Asked Question 4.1 – Is the Amount of Snow and Ice on the Earth Decreasing? YES
Fact Data from Rutgers University Global Snow Lab shows that Northern Hemisphere winter snow extent has been increasing at a rate of over 100,000 km2 per year, since 1989, the time the records began.
Fact – You and IPCC are Denying this.
Goracle “Fact: We can expect more extreme weather
Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”
Fact The World Meteorological Organization says: “In terms of global tropical cyclone frequency, it was concluded that there was no significant change in global tropical storm or hurricane numbers from 1970 to 2004, nor any significant change in hurricane numbers for any individual basin over that period, except for the Atlantic. Landfall in various regions of East Asia during the past 60 years, and those in the Philippines during the past century, also do not show significant trends.”
So I guess what you are saying about what the scientists are telling us is wrong! Or maybe you are listening to what the wrong scientists are telling you, things that you want to hear, doom and gloom stories that you are passing on.
Goracle “Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace
Fact A: the rates of global warming from 1860-1880, 1910-1940 and 1975-1998 were identical (Jones: are similar and not statistically significantly different from each other.)
Fact B: From 1998 till now 2010 – there has been no statistically significant warming.
Putting Fact A and Fact B together, if the last warming trend from 1975 to 1998 was identical to the previous warming trends AND there has been no warming since 1998, can we not safely say that the warming trend from 1975 to 2010 has NOT increased. In other words there is NO “quickening pace” and if anything there is a slowing pace? You may not be good at maths Goracle, so maybe you might want to consult your scientists on this.
Fact : Mr Goracle you got a D in your climate paper.
Fact a D grade is just one step higher than an F grade, which is fail.
Hypothesis: Though D does not stand for Dunce, it is very likely (more than 90% certain), that most people who get a D, (more than 50%), are Dunces.
In an informal study carried out by a statistician, this hypothesis was found to be robust.
Well the Goracle has done “Climate Science” and perhaps the skeptic community (who are all ignoramusses) one great educational service in the field of mathematics.
If you go to AlGore’s book; “An Inconvenient Truth.” pages 66/67 I believe it is, you will find AlGore’s plots of ice core data over the last 650,000 years or so. The data contained in those two graphs is highly instructive to the mathematically challeneged; and aren’t all climate skeptics mathematically challenged.
One of the two graphs there is atmospheric CO2 abundance; well to be honest, it is really ice core CO2 abundance; and it has a vertical scale in ppm of CO2 (but doesn’t say ppm of what). The other of those two graphs which doesn’t have any vertical scale, is purportedly a 650 kyr record of temperatures; once again we don’t know of what. The curve deliberately has no vertical scale, so that it can be plotted almost anywhere on the page; and Gore scaled the non-existing temperature scale to make the two graphs look exactly the same shape; so he could wave them in front of his thousand dollar a plate audience, and say; “see they correlate very well.”
Unfortunately, the plotter of these curves, must be dumber than a box of rocks, because if you don’t have a vertical scale; then you also don’t have a temperature origin; like zero Kelvins for example.
In that case, you can not only scale the two graphs to exactly the same shape, but you can slide them vertically, so they exactly overlap; instead of being separated vertically as in Gorebook. If they were overlapped, then you would be easily able to see the relative timing of the vertical edges, and you could see that the temperature changes predate the CO2 changes by, it is said about 800 years.
But despite being so poorly drawn; the mathematically challenged can also deduce something else from those graphs.
It is well known in the cloisters of climate science, that the mean global surface temperature, is proportional to the logarithm of the atmospheric CO2 abundance. None other than Dr Steven Schneider of Stanford University says so, and he made use of that fact to invent “Climate Sensitivity”, which is the slope of the Temperature versus logarithm (CO2) straight line graph.
Now AlGore’s curves are exactly the same shape; so that means; for the mathematically challenged; who hitherto had never ever heard of logarithms and slide rules, that the logarithm function itself is a linear function of the independent variable.
That is Log (CO2) = m. CO2 + C
So there you have it log (x) = m.x +c ; Dr Steven Schneider and Goracle Al have declared it so.
If and only if that relationship is true, can AlGore’s ice core temperature and CO2 abundance curves be the same shape.
Ergo; “climate sensitivity” is proved.
