The Goracle Forecast: AGW=More snow

Sure looks like a heat wave, doesn’t it?

Repower America Reports His View

By Al Gore from his blog @ algore.com

With all the climate deniers spreading lies about the climate crisis in the media, it’s vital we arm ourselves with the facts. Thankfully, Repower America put together a great fact sheet explaining the relationship between the climate crisis and extreme weather:

“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms

Record snowstorms need two things: temperatures below freezing, and very high humidity. On a planet warmer by a few degrees on average, the Northeast US will still have plenty of days below freezing; the big difference will be warmer seas producing higher levels of moisture in the air – and therefore more severe cold-season storms.”

“Fact: We can expect more extreme weather

Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”

“Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace

Weather in one region over days or months should not be confused with climate or the patterns of weather over decades and centuries. And the science is clear here: the last decade was the hottest on record. And to put this year’s weather in perspective, January was warmer than average for the continental United States”

============================

I could spend lots of time pointing out why each one of these claims is false, and that Mr. Gore is atcually the one who is the liar, by why deprive my readers of all the fun?

One thing Gore doesn’t mention: El Nino. Wonder why?

You can bet he’d be making the same claim if we had a below normal snowfall records too.

Hmm, one fact one should check is that winters in the northern hemisphere != winters in the southern hemisphere. While we indeed experienced one of the coldest winters, the southern hemisphere has experienced a normal winter indeed. Also, most of the warming in the last decades has been in the northern hemisphere, while the southern hemisphere is actually pretty constant. Of course, there is more station data available for the northern half.
I wonder how they account for leaps in measuring technology and increases in measured surface…

Those are lies. That’s what got warmists into trouble in the first place, replacing facts with lies.
Al sez “Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms”
That’s not a fact, there is no measurable increase in storm energy from anywhere. FSU has seen a decrease in tropical storm energy. It is a lie.

Hey, Al Baby, as a member of the CLUB OF ROME you subscribe share this idea:
“The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”
– Club of Rome

So, you believe yourself being a God like figure, so you want to scare the most simple and humble people of the earth (because, you know baby, WE don’t believe you a single word) to impose on them, not YOUR dreams or your ideals, but other peoples’ ideology, which btw reveals how intelligent and educated you are. So, let’s see: YOU WERE CHEATED FIRST, have you thought that?…then try to collect, to gather, all the neurones you can get, and see if you can walk all the way back and remember when and how they convinced you. I am sure they used your shiny little ego to make you believe what THEY wanted you to believe in…..think….remember….Wake up Al Baby!

The only question I have for the undeniers is, “If the climate crisis is as bad as you claim, then why does your lifestyle not reflect your beliefs?”

David L. Hagen is right. And the more Al Gore spouts his disinformation, the more he’s going to be held accountable in a court of law.
You’d think he’d know better, but Al only finished 2 years in a 3-year law school degree. That speaks volumes about his ability as a lawyer.

Fact: DENIAL swings both ways, Al….

OK, assuming that warmer seas probably mean more water vapor, they also probably mean fewer days below freezing. In fact today (Feb 24th) I’m looking out the window at a heavy rainstorm that in other years would have been 10 inches of snow. So just on logic, what warming gives it also takes away leaving things pretty much balanced.

Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms
Really! Weren’t we told by some ‘climate scientist’ that heavy snow would be something that people would rarely see in the UK in future?

“Fact: We can expect more extreme weather
Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”
Here is one set of stats. Note that the 2010 season needs to be added in to reach a full decade of comparable stats for this decade.
Average # of hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 1851-2006: 17.9
# of hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 2001-2009: 18
Average # of category 3-5 hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 1851-2006: 6.2
# of category 3-5 hurricanes making landfall at U.S. 2001-2009: 7
Sources: 1851-2006 NOAA http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pdf/NWS-TPC-5.pdf
2007-2009 Wikipedia (I am sure others could find this on NOAA.)
Of course this doesn’t speak to the historical strength of all Atlantic hurricanes and other measures of hurricane intensity, so it may not mean much.

The stats are per decade.

Doesn’t this sound like the definition of Pathological Science, as discussed by Irving Langmuir back in 1953?
http://www.cs.princeton.edu/~ken/Langmuir/langmuir.htm
The symptoms are:
1) The maximum effect that is observed is produced by a causative agent of barely detectable intensity, and the magnitude of the effect is substantially independent of the intensity of the cause. [CO2 is measured in parts per million, but the magnitude of the effect is global warming and destruction]
2) The effect is of a magnitude that remains close to the limit of detectability; or, many measurements are necessary because of the very low statistical significance of the results. [The effect of temperature rise is essentially unmeasureable due to the need for constant adjustments, proxy data, and statistical adjustments to pull out a very small effect]
3) Claims of great accuracy. [no need to comment on this one]
4) Fantastic theories contrary to experience. [again, no need to comment but lets just say that AGW causes massive snowfall would be a place to start]
5) Criticisms are met by ad hoc excuses thought up on the spur of the moment. [this is why we see Al Gore’s current blog post that contradicts prior predictions as well as facts within the blog itself (i.e. AGW will cause high humidy and lots of snow and also droughts and wildfires)]
6) Ratio of supporters to critics rises up to somewhere near 50% and then falls gradually to oblivion. [thankfully, we are seeing that now…The public was far more supportive in the past than it is now…The house of cards is crashing]
There you go……AGW is proven to be in the catagory as Pathological Science. I bet Langmuir would never have bet that you could get a Nobel Prize for Pathological Science.

Dave L (07:51:59) :Great post Dave!. The use of the term “plasma” for an ionized gas started in 1927 with Irving Langmuir (1881-1957), an American whose achievements ranged from the chemistry of surfaces to cloud seeding for promoting rain, and who in 1932 won the Nobel prize for chemistry. Langmuir worked for the General Electric Co., studying electronic devices based on ionized gases, and the way the electrified fluid carried high velocity electrons, ions and impurities reminded him of the way blood plasma carried red and white corpuscles and germs.
Now, plasma, is that “big one” earthquake which is making tremble the whole house of cards of “settled” cosmological science .

Let me see if I have this straight; pay attention, so you can see I have nothing up my sleeve.
Global warming; AKA “man made climate change” is bad, because it melts all the arctic ice and kills all the polar bears. And when all that arctic ice melts, it lowers the albedo of the planet, and the arctic ocean absorbs the abundant incoming sunlight that is known to fall up there, which makes the man made carbon dioxide enhanced global warming climate change even worse.
See how easy that is to understand.
Now cometh the Goracle; and doth pronounce, that AGW global warming man made climate change creates Extreme weather and oodles of snow that coats the great land masses of the world, particularly the Tennessee massif.
These formerly snowlesss regions of the planet are bathed in even more intense sunlight than those absorbing open waterss of the once ice covered great northern ocean; and with all of that snow piling up in Tennessee; that water has to come from somewhere, and the tropical oceans of the earth are as good a place as any.
The arctic ocean having melted all its ice, has cooled down and shrunk so we know that the l;evel of the arctic ocean has fallen; round about 2 mm per year actually by satellite measurment.
So now comes the great Goracle pronounced water pilferage from the tropical oceans to deposit all that extreme weather/climate snow on the land, thereby also lowering the sea level of the tropical oceans as well.
This is a disaster, since the Kennedy Compound (KCl) in Hyannissport, Mass, is no longer beach front property, but is miles away from any water.
But American Ingenuity comes to the rescue, and developers are already hard at work on shovel ready projects building public housing on these New Found Lands around Hyannis, and other former coastal areas.
New polling suggests in the light of the new Climate science discoveries of The Goracle, that AGW man made climate change global warming, is actually good, and will provide Lebensraum for a whole lot more people on planet earth. This will in turn call for more coal fired electric power plants and oil exploration, which will further increase the atmospheric CO2 abundance, and continue the beneficial global warming AGW man made climate change.
No wonder that man is a self made multi millionaire.

REPLY: This is a perfect example of the problem, my point was to be respectful to Dr. Curry and her discussion in this thread. “dorlomins” point is to score points, not contribute anything meaningful. He’s the classic troll with a failure to communicate in a situation where communications is called for. I understand why you can’t use your real name anymore, since the kinds of comments you leave about me and WUWT regulars on other blogs (yes I read them) is too vile to associate your name to, lest it damage your employablility. As I’ve said before, moral lectures from phantoms don’t impress me. -A

I went on that site of Al Gore’s to see if I could send him a message about all the lies he has been spreading. But it seems you only get to a point where you have to sent the message that he himself has written! How is that for democracy? (was’nt Al Gore a democrat?)

If there’s one thing I HATE, it is people who preface their contentious glib statements with the word “FACT”. It makes them look well dodgy, especially when they don’t quote their dubious sources.

Last I looked, the IRS forbade tax deductions for travel to conventions outside of the United States. Seems odd that tax exempt entities, indeed those funded by taxes, should be allowed to go to the far side of the earth for meetings.

Obviously there are other reasons than what are being told of why he clings to this dead cow of an argument. I’m sure it involves MONEY and even more MONEY. Politicians are paid by lobbyists to LIE to the public in order to pass bills/laws that enrich all parties involved, while plugging the taxpayer in the rear.

Disconnect: Why does his little map show COLD in Texas YET warm in those areas to the north?
I have news for Algore & Co.: The infusion of COLD air-masses we have been experiencing here in Texas moved DOWN from/and or through that area marked as ‘WARM’.
BIG disconnect Mr. Algore, BIG DISCONNECT.

The Maunder Minimum happened. During the Maunder Minimum, there were no buoys floating around the ocean measuring ocean heat content. Undoubtedly, the same weather patterns that caused devastating cold weather in the Northern Hemisphere then, are occurring now. It is likely that the equator was hotter during the Maunder Minimum, just as it is now.
That does not change the fact it is freezing cold in the Northern Hemisphere right now, and this freezing cold weather was not forecasted by GW models.
Apparently, changes in solar output change the *distribution of heat* on Earth. It causes neither warming nor cooling. For global cooling to occur, massive quantities of heat would have to suddenly release from the Earth in the form of hurricanes. Since hurricanes cannot now form in the Atlantic and Caribbean due to cooler ocean temperatures and changed wind patterns, heat content will build up in the Pacific Ocean as it cannot move north or escape into space. It will also add strength to Pacific storms.
Meanwhile, paleoclimate records demonstrate polar ice on Earth is an anomaly. How else does one explain the forests and peat bogs in the Northern permafrosts? The ice is the anomaly; the cycles of thawing over millennia are not the anomaly. We should be thankful the millions years old ice patterns, which destroyed vast regions of ancient Northern grazing lands, is gradually thawing out. We can put it to good use.
Global thawing is not the same thing as global warming. Humans do not produce enough of anything, whether heat, CO2, methane, water vapor, or anything else, which could alter the temperature of the Earth, except for all out nuclear war. If a nuclear war occurs, then we can talk about human induced climate change that makes a difference. But for now, nature is still in charge.
Changes in solar output and behavior are clearly behind our present weather patterns. Long term solar output is predictable and it clearly links to climate change. The IPCC needs to change their statistical approach to weather forecasting to a physics-based approach. They need to learn the actual mechanisms driving climate and lay off the number voodoo. That goes for Al Gore, too.
There are real issues that need to be addressed, such as adaptability and survival from natural changes. We are wasting far too much time and resources trying to fix anthropogenic warming, which is non-existent.
