Sure looks like a heat wave, doesn’t it?
Repower America Reports His View
By Al Gore from his blog @ algore.com
With all the climate deniers spreading lies about the climate crisis in the media, it’s vital we arm ourselves with the facts. Thankfully, Repower America put together a great fact sheet explaining the relationship between the climate crisis and extreme weather:
“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms
Record snowstorms need two things: temperatures below freezing, and very high humidity. On a planet warmer by a few degrees on average, the Northeast US will still have plenty of days below freezing; the big difference will be warmer seas producing higher levels of moisture in the air – and therefore more severe cold-season storms.”
“Fact: We can expect more extreme weather
Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”
“Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace
Weather in one region over days or months should not be confused with climate or the patterns of weather over decades and centuries. And the science is clear here: the last decade was the hottest on record. And to put this year’s weather in perspective, January was warmer than average for the continental United States”

I could spend lots of time pointing out why each one of these claims is false, and that Mr. Gore is atcually the one who is the liar, by why deprive my readers of all the fun?
One thing Gore doesn’t mention: El Nino. Wonder why?
You can bet he’d be making the same claim if we had a below normal snowfall records too.

“One thing Gore doesn’t mention: El Nino. Wonder why?”
Maybe because El Niño has nothing to do with it?
The first chart of this post clearly shows the snow records to the east of Rockies, so it would be better if an explanation was presented on how sea surface temperature in another aerological unit can influence precipitation at the heart of the North American high pressure channel.
Gore’s original post is the traditional produce of someone ignorant of the dynamics of weather and climate. First of all, for precipitation to occur perturbations must exist to transform precipitable potential into precipitation. An increase in precipitation is a consequence of an increase of perturbations, meaning a speed up of meridional circulation. Both this accelerated circulation and the decrease in height of the rain/snow threshold are symptoms of increased thermal deficit at the Arctic, not the contrary, as Gore proposes. Precipitable potential is at its highest in Summer, is then when it rains or snows more?
“With all the climate deniers spreading lies about the climate crisis in the media, it’s vital we arm ourselves with the facts.”
IMHO someone that opens a post in this manner is clearly not interested in discussing anything and is not worthy of having space at this tribune.
Haven’t read all the comments so sorry if my thoughts are already out.
“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms”
Assuming this is correct (which it most likely isn’t), wouldn’t this basically mean longer snowcover during spring-time (and actually fall too), which would cool the earth?
And while more snow “might be” the symptom of warming, it’s not proof for it.
We are at war with Eurasia.
We are ar war with East Asia.
We were never at war with Eurasia.
“Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace”
15 years of statistically no warming.

I’m pretty sure the person you’re talking about has already explained that he is NOT that person, but shares a similar name.
And, as much as I’d love to make humorous remarks about al-Gore, his own natural material is FAR funnier than anything anyone could possibly write… mostly because he really seems to believe it.
Jeremy (18:38:28) :
D (17:21:09) : Al Gore is an idiot? Idiots the world over resent that remark.
These days they offer University degrees in idiocy. The renowned University of East Anglia offers courses in idiocy. World class idiots can be expected to win the Nobel prize
Absolutely brilliant, first class Britsh comedy at its very best!

If anyone is interested Galaxy Zoo just launched a new project inspired by their success of previous public galaxy identification projects. http://www.solarstormwatch.com invites all of you to assist scientists studying storms that eject millions of tonnes of matter from the Sun’s surface as they spread out throughout the inner solar system.
Solar Stormwatch volunteers can spot these storms and track their progress across space towards the Earth. Such storms can be harmful to astronauts in orbit and have the potential to knock out communication satellites, disrupt mobile phone networks and damage power lines. With the public’s help, Solar Stormwatch will allow solar scientists to better understand these potentially dangerous storms and help to forecast their arrival time at Earth.
The more people looking at the beautiful videos collected from NASA’s STEREO spacecraft, the more discoveries we will make. If you want to take part, do log on to http://www.solarstormwatch.com.
The project is part of our Zooniverse network of sites, and we hope through your efforts it’ll produce as much exciting science as Galaxy Zoo has done.
“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms”
As opposed to “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past” from CRU.

“Fact: We can expect more extreme weather”
If he is thinking of New Orleans then I thought the damage was because of the levies. As for hurricanes in general I thought that much of the increase was due to better observation – satellites, radar etc., which weren’t plentiful 100 years ago.
“…both Northern Hemisphere and overall Global hurricane activity has continued to sink to levels not seen since the 1970s.”

“Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace”
Not according to Paul Jones of CRU who was asked this month – 13 February 2010:
“B – Do you agree that from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming[?]”
“Yes, but only just.”

The climate alarmists are digging holes, cotradicting each other, lying and are now being caught out time after time by their failed predictions or factual errors such as Hymalian glacial melt or the Arctic death spiral. AGW is crumbling in slow motion.
“With all the climate deniers spreading lies about the climate crisis in the media, it’s vital we arm ourselves with the facts.”
Doublespeak. Facts are what Al says they are.
Wait a moment. This is not snow … these are global warming flakes!
Any country that allows itself to be graded on a scale designed by European scientists (CRU) will appear to be a culture of higher primates, also attempting to compare cultures (public and political ) with the intention of determining which is the most developed will never be anything other than one more bullshit projection of the scientific cultures hatred of its own shadows.

Looks like he hasn’t read IPCC AR4 WG1
“Snow cover is projected to contract.”
and Figure SPM.3 clearly shows snow cover should decrease with GW.
I should think all you Americans are heaving a huge sigh of relief that the man wasn’t elected President – imagine the havoc he would have wreaked with his CAGW views – must be a good theme for a sci-fi fantasy novel there.
More fiction than science!
It’s clear that Al Gore doesn’t even read what the IPCC say any more
“….we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires….”
That’s all been proven to be little more than the ravings of fools without any scientific basis.
I concede that there will be more wildfires, but that’s because virgin rainforest is being cut down and replaced by farm plantations containing species of tree that are inherently inflammable, and all this is encouraged by the Carbon Offsetting schemes he and the other AGW proponents have encouraged.
Al Gore is an embarrassment to the AGW cause. For that reason I think he should get more air time. His interviews are outrageously funny.
Uh-oh – suddenly weather is climate, then..?
But these are’sub- post-normal facts!
I have unassailable proof that Gore didn’t invent the internet. I have found a boundary post in the Welsh mountains, made from good honest Welsh slate, with the inscription “w.w.w.1865”, and Welsh slate never lies (which is why they don’t make politicians out of the stuff).
When Al Gore et. al. gets eventually handed their financial walking papers over the carbon trading bubble; he and his minions will promptly morph the whole AGW issue into showing the scientific dangers that all the “resumption” of the consumption and burning of fossil fuels are going to cause a severe oxygen shortage in the atmosphere. I’m sure there will be no shortage similar activists leading the scientific investigations and plenty “peer reviewed” science saying so. I can hardly breathe now just thinking about it. Will make as much sense to a lot of people, make good MSM news, and appeal to the current group that are fooled now by the AGW. You still will now have to plant trees or some variant to prevent mass extinction of the planet . Think of the possibilities for fraud and panicked government action to occur on this one. This scam is not done folks.
Two or three Niños per decade, so obviously Washington gets record breaking snowfall two or three times per decade. In particular in 1998 Washington was covered with about 70 feet of snow.
Yes people, I love the logic.
Gore, fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms, does he mean (Global warming).
Here in the UK we had severe snowstorms in 1947 again again in 1963 and now to a lessor degree in 2010, these snowstorms do not appear to be more frequent or more severe, take a look.
“Does anyone know how you increase the heat content of the oceans without increasing the temperature of the oceans? ”
Don’t you know anything?
It’s all those Gorewellian Climate Change Particles doing that, you silly thing.

Luís (00:47:54) : An El Nino pushes the storm track south across the southern US, thus Texas and Florida are getting snow, it’s a typical El Nino pattern. The graphic is correct.
I just clicked on the link “an inconvenient truth” that was on his site. It took me to this address:
http://www.climatecrisis.net/
What’s that in huge letters? ICE FREE BY SUMMER 2050
How very Inconvenient Al.
RR Kampen (03:43:25) :
“…in 1998 Washington was covered with about 70 feet of snow.”
I must have missed that news item.
Aren’t you the guy from the Netherlands who told us last year that there would be no more ice skating on the canals because of global warming? How’s that prediction working out for you?
I’ve always believed that sticking the word “Fact” in front of an assertion is a pretty good indicator of a weak argument. Even if the facts are indeed fact, they are often non sequitors and don’t really tell us anything. For example, you could write: Fact – Human caused CO2 has been increasing.
Still, using such a word does endow the writer with a sense of knowledge, and readers are sometimes awed and swayed by such displays of knowledge.
In this case, however, all of these “facts” are actually falsehoods. Temperatures have not been increasing at an increasing rate – they have actually declined. It is not even a fact that warmer temperatures increase storm intensity and the idea that warmer weather leads to more snow is too patently absurd to comment on.
It would be more honest to have prefaced each remark with the words “It seems to me that . . .”
A Gore admirer in a previous post pointed out that Gore corrects his errors. Ok, let’s see him start with these schoolboy howlers.
