The Goracle Forecast: AGW=More snow

Sure looks like a heat wave, doesn’t it?

Repower America Reports His View

By Al Gore from his blog @ algore.com

With all the climate deniers spreading lies about the climate crisis in the media, it’s vital we arm ourselves with the facts. Thankfully, Repower America put together a great fact sheet explaining the relationship between the climate crisis and extreme weather:

“Fact: Climate change causes more frequent and severe snowstorms

Record snowstorms need two things: temperatures below freezing, and very high humidity. On a planet warmer by a few degrees on average, the Northeast US will still have plenty of days below freezing; the big difference will be warmer seas producing higher levels of moisture in the air – and therefore more severe cold-season storms.”

“Fact: We can expect more extreme weather

Scientists tell us that climate change has already led to more extreme weather in the United States and we can expect stronger hurricanes, more wildfires, heatwaves and droughts, to name a few.”

“Fact: The world is warming at a quickening pace

Weather in one region over days or months should not be confused with climate or the patterns of weather over decades and centuries. And the science is clear here: the last decade was the hottest on record. And to put this year’s weather in perspective, January was warmer than average for the continental United States”

============================

I could spend lots of time pointing out why each one of these claims is false, and that Mr. Gore is atcually the one who is the liar, by why deprive my readers of all the fun?

One thing Gore doesn’t mention: El Nino. Wonder why?

You can bet he’d be making the same claim if we had a below normal snowfall records too.

Hey Al! Are these scientists as smart as the doctors in this ad? Your ad copy, excuse me, I mean your true concern for the planet sure sounds similar.

Oh my! I also have been taken to task for calling Al Gore a dumb ass! Like D above, I have been requested to send out an apology to all the dumb asses in the world that I compared Al Gore to that lofty, venerated group of people. My sincere apologies. Al Gore is apparently in a class of … 1.

What gets me is the references to “the climate crisis” like it’s some organic thing. Like we can point to it and measure it and describe it’s features, when in reality it’s a marketing slogan made up by alarmists and doom mongers. “He played on our fears!!!” Al Gore’s favorite accusation applies as much or more to himself as to anyone else in the world. His casual use of the phrase “climate crisis” as a given fact is evidence of his preference hype instead of actual facts.

Long before the Goracle’s Inconceivable Truth, there was After the Warming with James Burke on TV in 1990. Even more alarmist, it made the following predictions (from Amazon):
1997-1999, Massive drought in Ukraine and US: American grain failure, hundreds of thousands die of starvation
2000, sea levels up 1′ since 1994 (in reality, it was about 1″)
2007, no water in Mexico City, 3rd world coastal regions destroyed by hurricanes, causing mass migration
2008, Major nuclear power plant accidents, and 100’s of thousands dead from hurricanes in Miami and other places
2010, millions more dead from starvation… and 3 degrees warming in the last 15 years (there has been only about 0.45 degrees, and no warming in the last 10 years)
You would think anyone watching it recently would rate it poorly. Not so! 7.9/10 on IMDB.
The disconnect between reality and green apocalypse is unbelievable. Just wait 20 years and see how wrong Gore was.

Fact. Al Gore got a “D” in environmental studies.
Fortunately, as a politician, you don’t actually have to know facts or science. You simply have to gain political connections and control the media, who are evidently bought out, quite easily.

Jack (17:22:33) :
Actually, I would like to know how to rebut 1, 2, and 3>>
Ah, but you can’t rebut something that is partly true. Half truths are remakably difficult to discredit.
1) Climate change causes more frequent and severe winter storms? Well when did we stop talking about humans causing global warming and start talking about climate change instead? and yes, the climate changes all the time, and some of the changes can have those kinds of effects. In fact, they have in the past, many times over, before humans started drilling for oil, and they will again in the future.
2) See anwer to 1) above.
3) Look at Anthony’s graphic. Funny how Gore et al pick the data that supports their argument and ignore the rest. Warming faster than ever before? Qualify that. From what period to what period, and compared to what. The statement isn’t even wrong, its meaningless.

Jack (17:22:33) :
“Actually, I would like to know how to rebut 1, 2, and 3”.
As simple as I can make it:
1. Where’s the empirical evidence that links the two?
2. This is just a prediction. So far, the observations aren’t matching your predictions.
3. Phil Jones is at odds with you, and he’s from an organisation that alarmists base a lot of their propaganda on.
I’m sure number 2 could be expanded on a great deal

Al Gore.
A politician (has been).
Talking about lies.
Fancy that.
How often do you get a chance to see a politician, any politician, talking about something in which they have a certain degree of expertise? (or at least greater expertise than the general population)

So according to the Vice Idiot more moisture from the oceans means more snow, yet if one looks at the snow fall map above, the snow is in the interior, where one would think there would be less moisture.

My friends in Florida tell me that the old folks can remember a winter or two like this one. They say the winter of 1974 was so bad that it pushed the citrus industry a 100 miles south. They say something like that is happening again. They have had two horrendous winters in a row. In the case of Florida, the Climategaters cannot say that there is excess snow caused by extra water vapor caused by global warming. The problem in Florida has been just plain old cold, not excess precipitation. So, how could global warming make more cold air move to Florida and stay there. In central Florida, February 1 is the first day of Spring. Some azaleas are in bloom and the firestorm of azaleas occurs no later than February 15. For the last two years, most of the azalea bushes are dead from the cold. Covering them with sheets did not do the job. I have a friend who moved to central Florida about fifteen years ago and, prior to last year, the lowest high he had experienced had been 55 degrees. For the last two years, there have been multiple highs in the forties and weeks when the temperature did not hit sixty. Unbelievable.

Gore says our planet is warmer than 2 deg on average…What is average?

February 23, 2010 6:35 pm

“These people” are unreal. Here is NOAA data.
Winter the last 15 years, minus .89F/decade simple trend. US Winters are getting colder. They certainly are not getting warmer.
http://premium.fileden.com/premium/2009/6/11/2474018/winter.png
How about US yearly precipitation, from all that evaporation they claim.
http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/6/11/2474018/annual_prec.png
Nope: Simple US precipitation trend is DOWN.
How about Winter US Precipation, that’s trending down too!
http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/6/11/2474018/winter_prec.png
These people have not scruples whatsoever, they take us for complete chumps. Worse than Al Gore spouting nonsense, is we have the pretty lady scientist from NOAA on ABC News earlier this week stating the same propaganda. Yet her own NOAA data clearly shows less precipitation and colder winters.
Data is here.

Does this mean Al Gore believes the warmer the climate gets the colder it gets? That’s what he’s basically saying as fact. I suppose that makes sense since a lot of AGW alarmists actually believe the richer he gets the poorer he gets. Does this also mean the poorer I get the richer I get? Isn’t it time to put him behind bars for open and obvious fraud?

Repeating again from the 2009 Climate impact report which is not repeat not in agreement with Gore’s claim
This from page 107 of the 2009 Climate Impacts report for the NorthEast
Note that it says LESS snow.
“The Northeast has significant geographic and climatic diversity
within its relatively small area. The character and economy of the
Northeast have been shaped by many aspects of its climate including
its snowy winters, colorful autumns, and variety of extreme events
such as nor’easters, ice storms, and heat waves. This familiar climate
has already begun changing in noticeable ways.
Since 1970, the annual average temperature in the Northeast has
increased by 2°F, with winter temperatures rising twice this much.150
Warming has resulted in many other climate-related changes,
including:
More frequent days with
• temperatures above 90°F
• A longer growing season
• Increased heavy precipitation
• Less winter precipitation falling as snow and more as rain
• Reduced snowpack
• Earlier breakup of winter ice on lakes and rivers
• Earlier spring snowmelt resulting in earlier peak river flows
• Rising sea surface temperatures and sea level”
Gore is a cronic lier and only a lame stream media and Senators like Boxer allow him to persist with his lies and distortions
