Holy Hockey Sticks !

Last month I was surprised to find WUWT broke the 2 million hits barrier.

This month, it’s worse than we thought:

wordpress.com internal traffic counter for WUWT - click for larger image

Just another effect of Climategate.

In other news, some other websites didn’t appear to benefit from the Climategate “bump”.

From Alexa.com

As always, I say I could not have done this alone. My sincere thanks to the many contributors, and moderators Charles, DB, and Evan. Of course, let’s not forget all the readers and commenters. Truly a global village we have here.

Yes, the Beeb continues with this sort of stuff:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8387137.stm
Climategate is completely ignored. If the BBC thinks it’s a non story then it’s a non story . The sound you hear is George Orwell saying “I told you so”.

“I had a look at Tamino one day (just a reflex after his starring role in some of the Climategate emails) and it was a pitiful sight (and site) of true believers talking themselves up and vainly reassuring each other the world hasn’t changed.”
Same at Climate Progress where my posts disagreeing with their position (climategate = nothing to see..move along!) were deleted by their mods.
That is one thing I really must commend WUWT and Climate Audit on. I’ve never had a post here go missing yet over at Climate Progress and Real Climate is utterly pointless to read the comment sections since there is always crazy amounts of selective pruning.

Thanks and congrats, Anthony. A voice of sanity in a bizarre environment.

Congratulations WUWT. Bravo, sport. And the great thing is you can offset all the extra carbon produced by your vast Net traffic with Kleiner Perkins and GIM! They’re Al Gore and CRU endorsed! Colonel Neville.

Meanwhile back at the ranch,
The BBC are reporting that the antarctic ice is melting far faster than previously thought(how convenient for Copenhagen) and sea levels will rise far more than previously thought.
The BBC seem to unaware that the antarctic continent ice is at record levels or if they are its having no influence on their corporate scaremongering tactics. Could we have have an antarctic sea ice level graph to show the reality instead of the fraudulent fantasies being peddled by the BBC please?
The lies of the AAM scaremongers always melt away in the face of actual evidence and the high numbers of people wanting actual evidence in the face of lies would benefit by having real information about the polar caps especially now as the antarctic melt season nears.

Rereke Whakaaro (02:38:11) :
Maybe we could designate a said hour of a said day to all have a beer for WUWT and sanity? It’ll have to be this week for me though – I’ll be on (quite) Big Oil’s dollar on an oil rig in The South China Sea from next Sunday or so until the New Year.

Well done, Anthony. Climategate is bringing them in. Keep up the good work in that regard.
Credit where it’s due, though. Check the influence on the rise against hits from Australia. We know we’re to blame. Our PM keeps apologising, it MUST be our fault. 🙂
Andrew Bolt and Tim Blair are linking you daily (at least) because of the quality of your posts and the topicality (is that a word?) of AGW to us here now. Our government was (and still is) millimetres from signing into effect an emissions trading scheme. Grass-roots uproar from supporters of the political opposition (stirred by Bolt and Blair) have resulted in a change in opposition leadership, which MAY block the passage of this unscientific, expensive bill.
Salutations from Australia! Keep the facts coming. Maybe eventually they’ll listen (though here it’s a little more urgent).
Evan

Congratulations anthony, found you at the urging of Chris Booker UK Telegraph some months ago.
http://www.actoncopenhagen.decc.gov.uk- search engine does not work which is a shame because I was going to search for something denialist; ” Global warming is a scam”
Their logo and artwork has been well and truly spoofed on UK blogs but too rudely for here.

I’ve been visiting this site for about a year – Christopher Booker’s articles mentioned it. Now its daily reading after the newspapers normally, but THIS week I visit before the papers in the morning and again late afternoon to see developments (I’m in UK).
What I found encouraging last week was Andrew Neil, (former editor Sunday Times, now presenter of the Daily Politics and This Week, a political magazine programme both on BBC) bring up Climategate and insist on a robust debate on the evidence for AGW. Also Times, Telegraph, Mail & Guardian have all run stories covering different perspectives on Climategate – it is entering the mainstream. And all in a week!
Today its the FT

“Secrecy in science is a corrosive force
By Michael Schrage ”
I suspect the examination of the material from CRU, and the subsequent re-examination of the Team’s work will lead to more and more unraveling of the sorry edifice of their case for evidence for AGW.

Keep going Anthony,
press them on cheating,
and ignorance, climatologists
which can not define climate
are ….., as explained recently
at: http://noconsensus.wordpress.com/2009/11/13/open-letter/ :
Article 1 of the FCCC providing definitions offers none on the term “climate”, and if it had been based on the common explanation on “average weather”, the word “weather” would have required a definition as well. That the drafters failed to do so is a clear indication that they either lacked the scientific competence to do so, or they knew it would make no sense, because ‘average weather’ is statistics, and remain statistics regardless of any name given to the set of statistics.
Instead the FCCC defines in
Para. 2. “Climate change” means a change of climate which is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere and which is in addition to natural climate variability observed over comparable time periods.
Para. 3. “Climate system” means the totality of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and geosphere and their interactions.
Both explanations explain nothing. It is nonsense to say: Climate change means the change of climate, while ‘climate system’ does not say anything more as the interaction of nature. Science is using layman’s terms without being able or willing to define them in a scientifically reasonable manner, or not to use them at all. A detailed discussion is available at: http://www.whatisclimate.com/.

Don’t get to carried away by this “Hockey stick graph” it merely represents a recovery from the “little ice age” of AGW skepticism in the mid 2000’s.

In the spirit of AW’s praiseworthy even-handedness we should all wish Dr Phil,Jones all the best in his new job in Italy – he is, I’m sure I got this right, to be the curator of the Turin Shroud.”
That is unfortunate as the Turin shroud investigation did have some rigorous science carried out.

WUWT benefits from a combination of good science, insightful commentary, timely release of information (thanks mod team!) and a blind deaf and dumb media that won’t talk honestly about climategate. There’s no reason to go to a pro-AGW blog right now…the media is doing their work for them. This site provides the other side.

Hats off to you Anthony & Co – what a tremendous result.
Something similar happened here in the UK when a political scandal broke about the smearing of opposition politicians by a government civil servant.
The blog that broke it [Guido Fawkes] saw his traffic treble and it stabilised at about 2x the previous rate IIRC. He changed how political bloggers were treated by the MSM in the UK – from sad loners obsessing from their bedrooms to serious players who could force people from office by saying what the lobby journalists wouldn’t cover.
Looks like you and Mr McIntyre have done exactly the same thing – only on a global scale. Respect.

Anthony, btw, WUWT is coming up in the #2 position at Bing for climategate, with #1 being Climategate Document Database – Alleged CRU Email.

Looking for hockey sticks?
See if you can dig up the historical number of hits on “climategate” on Google.
Seems to have increased by a million or more hits in a day; currently at 13M2 (that’s 13,200,000)

Thank goodness for the hands across the sea. Not our finest hour over on this side of the pond; ‘the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science’ indeed. Let’s hope that ‘all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands’.

December 1, 2009 4:16 am

Well done to Anthony and the mods. I can only think you were being your kind self by not including realclimate. Wattsupwiththat is showing double the amount of visitors compared to realclimate.org. Climateaudit.org is running neck and neck with realclimate, but when you include camirror.wordpress.com, it also comfortably beats it.
