The good news for climate realists and better governance in the Trump administration is piling up so fast it is difficult to keep up. As we covered on this show on December 6, a bit of undercover journalism by Project Veritas exposed a left-wing staffer at the Environmental Protection Agency admitting that he and others were trying to get billions of our tax money “out as fast as possible” before the Trump administration arrived in January and put a stop to it.
“It truly feels like we’re on the Titanic and we’re throwing gold bars off the edge,”
laughed Brent Efron, former “special advisor for implementation” at EPA. Well, new EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced this week that he has jumped into his submersible and snatched the gold bars ($20 billion) out of the hands of unaccountable lefty nonprofit “NGOs” and returned them to the treasury. The endless flow of our tax money going to environmental extremists groups who advocate against America’s interest seems to be coming to an end.

Did you know that USCRN has just given the COLDEST January in its whole record. !
January 2025 is the fifth coldest month in the USCRN. The dataset goes back 21 years but the ten coolest months all occurred in the past 16 years. The coolest month was December of 2010.
The hottest month was way back in December of 2006. Five of the ten warmest months occurred prior to April 2008
The USCRN currently shows a slight cooling trend for the past 9 years and 11 months.

El Nino produces greatly increased water vapor, which increases cloud cover and warms the world surface by about 0.4 C, depending on the strength of El Niño, in a period of about 6 months to a year.
Obviously, that has nothing to do with the much less abundant trace gas CO2, a weak absorber/emitter of IR photons, which MIGHT increase the world surface by 0.1 C over ten years. See Spencer diagrams
You can clearly see the surge in the rate of CO2 increase at El Nino events in the data.
The fact that the surge “follows” the El Nino, shows it cannot cause it.
What you have said does not contradict this, and actually appears to be totally unrelated.

Maybe you misinterpreted what I said ?
In an El Niño, heat that had been stored in the west Pacific warm pool sloshes back across the Pacific and warms the atmosphere. From there it radiates to space. The ocean/atmosphere system cools during an El Niño. This is another reason that global-average air temperature tells us nothing useful about how much heat is retained in the biosphere.
There is also a distinct shift in sea level during that “slosh”..
down in the west, up in the east (like a bath “sloshing”)
The winds have built the sea level up in the west, until it collapses, and “sloshes” back. (love that word 😉 ).
I have often wondered how much potential energy is emitted as kinetic energy during that “slosh”
Bob Tisdale showed that the warmer water of the El Nino also transports to adjacent basins, with about a 6 month lag, causing the step change that follows the El Nino transients
El Niño is a lack of cold water upwelling. The warming occurs because the cold water is not there to cool the solar heat input.

I am not aware of anything being returned at this point. These grants are made by contract so it might not be easy to get money back.
A grant is made by contract. The recipient does not get all the money up front. It is deposited in an agency “account” and drawn down as grantees spend the money. I have had grants that took over two years to spend. In this case it looks like they created an actual interest bearing account at Citibank, who would then handle the payments to the grantees over time. In theory a good idea.
EPA likely has to find a way to cancel the grant contracts. That it happened too quickly might be an opening. But breaking the multi-billion dollar contracts might be hard and could easily go to Court. So while it is a great scandal I do not see that anything has been returned to the Treasury or taxpayers.
