Monday Mirthiness: a ‘mostly peaceful’ #Election2020 choice

By now, I’m sure almost everyone who reads WUWT has seen the ridiculous CNN screencap with the FIERY BUT MOSTLY PEACEFUL PROTEST title while flames and burnt out cars inhabit the background. Josh did, and provides his take on it, along with a detour into the guillotine protest culture that has shown up lately as well.

The question is, do you vote for the party of the guillotines or not?

Seems like an easy choice. Choose wisely.

Josh draws for free. Like his work? Buy him a pint.

Looks like the left are suddenly warming to the 2nd amendment !

WUWT is a bit behind the news with this article. Latest from CNN’s “editor at large” Chris Cilligeeza:

Trump’s efforts to label what is happening in major cities as “riots” speaks at least somewhat to his desperation, politically speaking, at the moment.

His tweet is set against a dramatic shot of a two military figures silhouetted against a blazing warehouse.
Something Trump is “desperately” trying to misrepresent as the result of a riot, when in fact is a perfectly peaceful demonstration.

The local media in Seattle likes to call them white nationalists, just short of calling them white supremacists, again without evidence.

The founder of Patriot Prayer has in the past openly and forcefully rejected white supremist groups, neo-nazis groups and alt-right groups. But ANTIFA labels as “fascists” anyone who doesn’t support their thuggery and anarchy agenda. That’s how Bolsheviks roll. You have to be a moron to not realize what ANTIFA is. The guy who allegedly shot the Patriot Prayer marcher labels himself as 100% ANTIFA on his Facebook page.

Example – About five minutes ago, I listened to Juan William’s interviewed – he was going on and on about all the racist things Trump’s said – the interviewer asked him to name one.

Williams said, ”Where do I began?” and then went on again – BUT NEVER MENTIONED ONE.

For those outside the U.S. and those inside the U.S. that only listen to CNN, Jacob Blake had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest for sexual assault. He had returned to that same woman’s home when she called the police. They arrived and tried to arrest him, he resisted and began fighting with the police. Tasers were used without success. He either had a knife or went to retrieve a knife when he was shot.
Making a hero out of a sexual predator felon is the mindset of America’s left.

Indeed, most of these “police shootings” the left have been holding up as paragons who were “murdered” by the police “because racism” were actually violent criminals (armed, reaching for their own weapon, or reaching for the cops weapon) resisting the police (and some of the police involved were themselves people of color), not that you’d know it from listening the fake news media. When an incident happens they immediately create an untrue narrative based on zero verifiable facts (for example “hands up don’t shoot”) at the outset, by the time the true facts are revealed it’s too late, the false narrative just keeps getting repeated (“hands up don’t shoot” never happened, as the physical and forensic evidence testifies, but still keeps being repeated to this day).

They keep up the lies even when it isn’t the police involved. There are still a large number of people who believe that Zimmerman ambushed and slaughtered the poor little 12 year old Martin in Florida.
Instead, according to the testimony of 17 year old, football playing Martin’s girlfriend, he had reached his home and at that time decided to go back and teach that white cracker a lesson.

The police were responding to a 911 call from the woman he assulted. She had a restraining order yet he entered her premises. The police knew there was an arrest warrant outstanding when they responded to 911. He had a knife in his hand when they tazed him. The bodycam footage had the officers yelling repeatedly drop the knife before they finally fired. The cellphone footage from across the street shows both facts clearly before the police fired.

It’s possible, no matter how extremely unlikely, that the person just so happened to have stumbled across the corpse and picked up the knife that was lying nearby right before being found in that rather compromising looking position. Hence alleged is the appropriate descriptor until such time as it’s proven in a court of law (the whole pesky innocent until proven guilty thing) at which time the “alleged” can be dropped.

Thanks for the info Tom in Florida. Here in the UK the BBC have merely repeatedly broadcast that the police shot Blake in the back seven times while he was getting into his car, and with his children sitting in the rear. On the video you can see they are trying to stop him, but he gets away from them and refuses to comply with their instructions to stop, even though they were aiming a gun at him. He opens the driver door and then reaches down to pick something up, leaving the police no option but to shoot him or risk themselves being shot or stabbed.

The official Democratic party positions on this, which are quickly adopted by the party faithful, have evolved from mostly peaceful, to “there is no rioting”, to these are Republicans who are doing the looting and burning. At times it descends into an incoherent mumbling like “183,000 dead” or “economy ruined” as if these phrases had some meaning in and of themselves — or as if they had some magic behind them.

When Obama was President the Democrats often spoke of nuance, as if only they understood the complexities of life, but now they want no nuance at all, just one-dimension explanations of everything; and, those explanations had better serve political needs.

I am stunned were this country appears to have gone in two terms of Obama, then three years of infantile tantrum over an election gone wrong, to the past six months or so of magical thinking indistinguishable from that of stone age peoples. Scary!

“The official Democratic party positions on this, which are quickly adopted by the party faithful, have evolved from mostly peaceful, to “there is no rioting”, to these are Republicans who are doing the looting and burning.”

Indeed.

Recently the Governor of South Dakota was making a statement, at the RNC, I believe, accurately depicting what was happening in Seattle, Portland, and other Democrat-run cities. Rachel Madcow was on the job, and immediately got the mayor of Seattle, Jenny Durkan, on the phone to “fact-check” the SD Gov’s remarks.

Durkan did not acknowledge ANY rioting or damage to businesses, or anything else, in her rebuttal. She didn’t acknowledge that there were at least 3 murders on her watch directly related to the rioting and the so-called CHOP zone. She, the governor Jay Inslee, and the King County Executive Dow Constantine, all have blood on their hands. Yet none of them or the “protesters” will say the names of those murdered.

Reason #1 why businesses need to leave liberal infested cities…

https://m.startribune.com/skyrocketing-demolition-costs-for-riot-damaged-properties-delay-rebuilding/572269302/

One day after rioters destroyed the Sports Dome retail complex in St. Paul, a construction crew hired by the city knocked the building down because it was dangerously unstable.

Then the city presented the property owners with a $140,000 bill for what it would cost to haul away the debris.

“We were really upset about that,” said property owner Jay Kim, whose insurance policy covers a maximum of $25,000 in demolition costs. “We thought that was high. But we didn’t know how much demolition would cost at the time.”

Like dozens of other investors whose properties were severely damaged in the May riots, the Kim family was stunned to discover that the money it would collect from its insurance company for demolition won’t come close to the actual costs of doing the job. Most policies limit reimbursement to $25,000 to $50,000, but contractors have been submitting bids of $200,000 to $300,000. In many cases, the price of the work is not much lower than the actual value of the property, records show.

Gotta love those rioters!

Interesting stuff, considering James Hansen is one of the fathers of this CAGW meme. I would have thought he would have learnt from his own predictive failures and changed his mind on negative conclusions from climate change by now. We now live in a new Warm Modern Period which supports almost 8 billion people. Maybe ask him to write a chapter on the miracles of growing trees on the good Earth, specifically the Trillion Tree Initiative.

The one thing I think we should all get behind is the Trillion Tree Initiative. At least it would be something useful as trees and forests are a net beneficial for ecosystems and wildlife and even communities and cities where we see massive urban forests even on the prairie cities, and everyone likes trees as they bring a lot of good when managed properly. It maybe only temporarily locks up terrestrial carbon and releases it again the scheme of things, but I will go along with that and as long as we do it for a 1000 years on a rotational basis, we will lock up some carbon, which would be meeting the alarmists part way with something useful. And we have a lot more timber to assist a growing world.

Politics is the art of compromise, so if we do anything, it should make sense. Hardening the grid would be another good measure as there is noting better than electricity for the long term future. How we get that electricity is another issue. I don’t advocate trying to replace fossil fuels with biomass but with 1.5 Billion m3 of trees being milled annually all over the planet every year, that is a lot of wood waste to deal with. Some biomass makes sense especially to utilize all these millions of tons of wood waste from commercial forestry globally.

I have planted over 1 million trees commercially with my small forestry company since I have also maybe harvested a million trees over my 41 years in the biz. It would only take a million little guys like me to get a trillion new trees growing. Who could argue with a trillion new trees? Probably a DemoKKKrat.

One Trillion Tree initiative

“In 2015, there were about 3 trillion trees in the world and later it was also estimated that planting 1.2 trillion more trees would counteract 10 years of anthropogenic CO2 emissions.”

“The 2020 World Economic Forum, held in Davos, announced the creation of the One Trillion Tree Initiative platform for governments, businesses, and civil society to provide support to the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2020-2030), led by UNEP and FAO. Forum participant Donald Trump, president of the United States, announced that the government of the U.S. would commit to the initiative.

As of 4 February 2020, 13.6 billion trees have been planted. I just planted 50,000 trees this spring on my 2000 acres of privately managed lands and woodlot. Everyone and every living thing is happy with that.

I liked the older harmless days of reporting on dangerous storms from the bottom of a flooded ditch. They have moved to the next level….again.

Next level downwards.
Now they report from the sewer which is where they feel most at home.

Violence by the “peaceful protesters” isn’t a bug, it’s a feature.

49% violent is still “mostly peaceful”. I guess that is CNN’s logic.

One quote from Dementia Joe sort of sums up how ignorant he is.
Dementia Joe: “Instead of standing there and teaching a cop, when there’s an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something, you shoot them in the leg instead of in the heart is a very different thing. ”

unarmed with a knife. Joe Biden clearly isn’t very bright.

Ask any self-defense instructor, when shooting, always shoot for the center of mass. Shooting for the arms or legs it’s too easy to miss.

Even when shooting for the body, they still miss at least half the time.
Beyond that, lots of people have died from being shot in the leg. Nick the femoral artery and you will bleed out in a minute or two.

Unless you suspect the target is wearing body armor. Then go for the unarmored center of mass. Two in the chest, one in the head actually is a pretty good rule of thumb. But ammo is cheap so it is not a bad idea to keep firing until you actually observe a change in the target’s behavior.

CNN also had a chyron that said “Violent protests happening now”… then someone obviously made a phone call, and the “Violent” part disappeared in real-time!

2020… The year we’ll wish we could forget, but will remain in memory as “that pivotal year in history”.

If basic rights can be suspended because of a non existant pandemic, and governors can forever ignore the law (and congress) and govern by oukases, like Tsar… with the excuse of defending a non existent entity called “public health” (only individuals have “health”, not “the public”) … then surely the President can reject and dismiss any electoral result from a region (state, county, municipality…) that is under the control of rioters, their enablers, enemies of the State (esp. those who supported people who have links with Putin (wink wink) like one major (phony, illegal, imaginary) “impeachment” witness – like Fiona Hill)…

I’ve also seen in the last few days a photograph of the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor with a mock CNN headline below it saying “the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor was mostly peaceful”. CNN has long been an embarrassment but surely even the fruit loops that work there must see that they are sprouting nonsense.

“Fiery but mostly peaceful flight of Japanese Zeros above Peral Harbor”

“Fiery but mostly peaceful flight of aircraft over Dresden”

CNN the inspiration of a thousand memes.
