Climate activist Bill McKibben still fighting ‘The End of Nature’

It’s fitting I meet US climate change campaigner Bill McKibben for our lunch shortly after filing on Sydney smashing its April temperature records, part of the city’s hottest autumn in almost 160 years of records.

McKibben was on his Accelerate Climate Action tour around Australia, arranged by the local arm of the 350.org activist group he founded in 2008.

He arrives for our chat in the sun-soaked Sydney Botanic Gardens Restaurant after a brief side trip to the bleaching-battered Great Barrier Reef, and has his own grim tales to tell.

“It was emotional to be out there on the reef,” he says after we order – a barbecued barramundi shared between us, following an appetiser of chargrilled flat breads.

“We dove first on a spot that was utterly decimated, with 98 per cent mortality. This was on the spot [David Attenborough’s] Blue Planet II had filmed those amazing things about the great spawning of coral,” he tells me.

Sadly no pictures of the environmentally friendly wooden coracle McKibben used to travel to Australia.

There will be no Ocean-going environmentally friendly wooden coracle for Bill McKibben, he will be up at the pointy end of the aluminium cylinder in First Class as he flies to Australia.

Two clueless lefty journalists reporting on the GBR, who make their living out of alarmism. What would you expect but a “Chicken Little” report?

Will be good to see the old doomsayer enjoying his undoubtedly fully offset travel, sightseeing and luxury hotels while preaching to his fellow believers. Ya gotta have a hobby in retirement, so panicing the masses seems to be as good as any.

Lomborg gives us the facts on their so called mitigation of their so called CAGW.
Today we generate just 0.8% of our TOTAL world energy from Solar and Wind and this may increase to 3.6% by 2040.
But by 2040 the energy pie will be much bigger and of course co2 emissions will be much higher as well.
This will cost 1 to 2 trillion $ a year and will have NO measurable change on temp ( by 2040 or 2100) at all. IOW endless trillions $ will be flushed down the drain and the poor bloody taxpayers will reap a zero return on their delusional investment.
And even Dr Hansen said that Paris COP 21 is just more BS and fra-d. Unbelievable but true, yet just about every Govt believes these lies and con merchants like the above example continue to jump on this gravy train.
Here’s Lomborg’s summary of the IEA 2018 update on TOTAL global energy sources and projections. Will they ever wake up to the S&W idiocy ?

Eric Worrall uses the old “if climate change advocates aren’t using zero energy and practicing stoneage austerity, they must be frauds” trick.

Grow up.

What trick? Mr disgrace-to-the-name Donald.

Pointing out blatant hypocrisy is not a trick, it is an irrefutable argument.

A trick would be repeatedly and systematically adjusting the temperature record so that the more distant past is cooler and the more immediate past warmer than was actually recorded to create the impression that temperatures have dramatically increased.

Face it, you guys trump all the “tricks” with…(wait for it)…

Mike’s Nature Trick.

Lest we forget!

Agreed. EW has no middle ground or concept of reasonable use. If you use any form of fossil fuel in Eric’s world you are a hypocrite, if you believe AGW is real and a threat.

Skype.
It uses a lot less fossil fuel than plane journeys. Look it up Donald.

Saw this crybaby last time he was in Sydney (obtained a free ticket-no way i would pay to see him.) Very practised attempt to look inexperienced and that there was more that could come out. Quite a vomitous experience with hundreds of brain dead believers swooning over weepy Bill.

A tropical storm, that churns up sand (yes, in Blue Planet that was sand on the coral you saw, not bleaching), and a long ans strong el nino, that lowers sea levels by 10 inches and exposes coral to stronger sunlight/air, hence bleaching it, and it is no surprise the epicenter of the storm impact looks bad. The rest has recovered already though: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-09-29/coral-regeneration-raises-hopes-for-great-barrier-reef-recovery/9001518

Is that excerpt anything BUT advertising for that restaurant? Was the purpose of the article his chat with the man or what they had for lunch?

Did McKibben walk, ride a bicycle or ride in a gas guzzling CO2 belching automobile on his save the planet tour?

Weepy Bill’s a classic climate cuckaloo. He’s drunk so much of his own klimate koolade it’s a wonder he can dress himself in the morning.

No doubt he made it there by ship since aircraft emissions are particularly damaging, and no doubt he’s making his way city-to-city in a battery-powered bus.

This research is for Bill and his mental health.

People who are depressed “don’t see subtleties, and we can see this in the words they use,” says James W. Pennebaker, professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, who studies how language relates to a person’s psychological state.

Well compacted, Eric Worrall:

despite global problems McKibben never lost appetite nor starved.

Another Question –

Is this his Great Barrier Reef – or is he just parasiting on.

Silly Question.
