Former Vice President Al Gore is upset that President Trump has not proven receptive to receiving Gore’s famous scientific “expertise” on climate change.
Al Gore: ‘I tried my best’ but Trump can’t be educated on climate change
At UN climate talks in Bonn, Gore is heading an unofficial group trying to stop climate change – in the face of scepticism from Trump administration officials
Al Gore has accused Donald Trump of surrounding himself “with the absolute worst of climate deniers” and said he has given up attempting to persuade the president to reverse his dismantling of policies combatting global warming.
However, both Gore, the former US vice-president, and Jerry Brown, governor of California, told the Guardian they were confident the US will regain its leadership position on climate change if Trump is defeated in the next presidential election.
Gore, Brown and Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor of New York, are heading a broad coalition of climate change hawks from US states, cities and businesses in Bonn, where UN climate talks are being held. This alliance is in sharp contrast to the official US delegation, which is representing the only national government in the world that doesn’t want to be part of the Paris climate accords.
“I haven’t had any conversations with [Trump] since his speech to withdraw from Paris. I tried my best and thought he’d come to his senses but I’ve been proven wrong,” Gore, who met with Trump during the transition to try to influence his thinking, told the Guardian. “I don’t feel I have the ability to change his mind. He’s surrounded himself with the absolute worst of climate deniers who seem to have captured his mind on the issue.”
…
Brown also said he sees little point attempting to sway the Trump administration. “The official policy of the US is that climate change is a total and complete hoax conceived by Chinese conspirators,” the California governor told the Guardian. “That is so preposterous that engagement on that basis is just useless.”
However, the California governor said mid-term elections in the US next year may pressure Trump to change position. “He’s an action orientated person, not a politician, so who knows,” he said.
“Ultimately we won’t have a denier in the White House forever. We are engaged in a great political struggle between the deniers who want to turn the world over to fossil fuel interests and scientists and concerned activists who want to see decarbonization.

The climate rent seekers behind Gore and Brown are quite obviously hoping to endure the Trump Presidency. Rent seeking is what they do, they have no plan B.
If we don’t save our kids from climate brainwashing, get green propaganda out of schools, and keep up the pressure on climate scientists to produce evidence to support their wild alarmist claims, Gore and Brown might yet prove to be justified in their optimism.
In my opinion we have one chance to get this right, or risk losing generations of our children to climate servitude.
What we need is a Trump in Canada re climate.
I’m wondering what the Newspeak definition of “Education” would be under Big Brother Gore?
Gore and Brown are fools.
At least Gore seems to be resigned to Trump still being there by the next election. Probably realises all the Russian stuff and impeachment babble is going nowhere.
Gore is a profoundly disturbed destructive person.
Tweedle Dum critiquing Tweet-le Dee
…and Tweet-le Dee is confounding the MSM. I LOVE IT!
It is Al Gore that cannot be educated on climate change. He is the real science denyer.
there is plenty of scientific rational to support the idea that the climate sensivity of CO2 is really zero. The initial radiametric calculations came up with a climate sensivity of CO2 of 1.2 degrees C not factoring in feedbacks. One researcher has found that these calculations failed to take into consideration that a doubling of CO2 will cause a slight decrease in the dry lapse rate in the troposphere which is a cooling effect. The reduction in the dry lapse rate will decrease the climate sensivity of CO2 by more than a factor of 20, reducing the climate sensivity of CO2 to less than .06 degrees C.
An important part of the AGW conjecture is that CO2 based warming will increase the amount of H2O in the atmosphere which will cause even more warming because H2O is really the primary greenhouse gas and molecule per molecule is a stronger absorber of IR than is CO2. Those that believe in the AGW conjecture like to assume an amplification factor associated with H2O of 3. However, the AGW conjecture completely ignores that H2O is a primary coolant in the Earth’s atmosphere moving heat energy from the Earth’s surface to where clouds form via the heat of vaporization. According to some energy balance models more heat energy is moved by H2O via the heat of vaporization then by both convection and LWIR absorption band radiation combined. The cooling effect of more H2O is also evidenced by the fact that the wet lapse rate is significantly less than the dry lapse rate which indicates that more H2O has a net cooling effect. So instesd of an amplification factor of 3 we should use an amplification factor of 1/3 which would yield a climate sensivity of CO2 of less than .02 degrees C which is a trivial amount.
The AGW conjecture depends upon the existance of a radiant greenhouse effect caused by trace gases with LWIR absorption bands. The AGW conjecture completely ignores the fact that good absorbers are also good radiators and what ever LWIR photons are absorbed are eventually radiated away. The so called greenhouse gases do not trap heat any more than any other gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. In fact the non-greenhouse gases will tend too hold onto heat energy longer than the so called greenhouse gases because the non-greenhouse gases are such poor LWIR radiators to space. Since heat transfer by conduction and convection dominates over heat transfer by LWIR absorption band radiation in the troposhere, the fact that the so called greenhouse gases absorb LWIR radiation makes little difference.
A real greenhouse does not stay warm because of the action of IR absorbiing greenhouse gases. A real greenhouse stays warm because the glass limits cooling by convection. It is a convective greenhouse effect that keeps a real greenhouse warm. There is no radiant greenhouse effect that keeps a real greenhouse warm. So too with the Earth’s climate system. Gravity along with the heat capacity of the atmosphere and the depth of the troposphere provide a convective greenhouse effect. Derived from first principals, the Earth’s convective greenhouse effect keeps the Earth’s surface on average 33 degrees C warmer than it would otherwise be. 33 degrees C is the amount derived from first principals and 33 degrees C is what has been measured. There is no additional warming caused by a radiative greenhouse effect. A radiative greenhouse effect has not been observed on Earth or anywhere else in the solar system for that mater. The radiative greenhouse effect is science fiction. Hence the AGW conjecture is science fiction. This is all a matter of science.
From an analysis of paleoclimate date and the results of work with models one can conclude that the climate change we are experieicnig today is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. So far mankind has not been able to change weather events let alone global climate. Al Gore does not seem to understand this. It is all a matter of science. Al Gore is the science denier.
Good science there, willhaas…but you’ve substituted the “radiative greenhouse effect” with some sort of “convective greenhouse effect”. There is no “greenhouse effect” of either description. The atmosphere cools the surface. Your idea that the Earth’s surface would be on average 33 degrees C colder without some “greenhouse effect” is just hypothetical nonsense, not based in reality. At those temperatures all the oceans would be frozen solid….but I’ve noticed they are not…haven’t you?
So in reality, there is sufficient solar radiation to keep our surface temperatures at the liveable average they are.
It’s just a mistake in the incoming solar radiation at the TOA.
Al Gore’s whole PARTY are science deniers! Who the hell is trying to sell us the nonsense that there are more than two sexes? Ai-yi-YIIIIII!
Is it just me, or do Gore and Brown sound like the antagonists in a poorly written screenplay about a dystopian future?
Some of the villains out of Atlas Shrugged frequently complained about the difficulties of dealing with people who didn’t share their “practical” world view.
As in “He can’t be bought”..
Trump will likely not be re-elected if he doesn’t curtail climate alarmism.
Young people will increasingly vote in US elections because the green agenda is sweeping education institutions and the internet.
The USA is in a dangerous period of history; more danger than any terrorist or dictator.
Trump’s number one priority should be defeating alarmism.
The Democrats have him lined up for an all-out assault from the grass-roots up.
The Democrats and their donors are not siting around crying, they’re twice as busy because they see climate as their most powerful weapon. Everything else they stand for lacks credibility or popularity.
Climate will decide the next election (if not the one after).
Democrats know young people are looking for ‘meaning’ and ‘purpose’ and green provides that.
The longer Trump delays the easier it is for them.
Trump should be building off the momentum of the PARIS REJECTION and his failure to do so is a massive strategic blunder.
Bannon has missed this one (because his donors and backers are soft on it).
How often do you hear ‘build the wall’ and ‘balance the climate debate’ in one sentence.
You don’t . . . this is deadly.
Every US agency continues to promote one side of the story without checks and balances.
The US Government promotes climate alarmism every day and will continue to do so by every indication.
Great post…I live in the UK and our supposedly right wing (sensible) politicians are like sheep when it comes to climate and energy policies. In a few years we will be paying up to $400 extra per year per household for energy and our diminished industrial base will fade away.
Trump is our only hope of salvation and I hope he attacks the green thieves in every way possible.
Hate to tell you, but “climate” “change” consistently polls last on the list of people’s real-world concerns. A few millennials use that (along with “fair trade” and “veganism”) for secular virtue-signalling among their 3% privileged peers, but that’ll die a natural death as soon as they have to make their own living. Most ADULTS get it that economic prosperity is the sine qua non that makes all other things possible when dealing with the wider world. Take care of the bottom 2/3 of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs pyramid, then you have the luxury of worrying about political arcana.
Whar’s a “climate denier”?
“Whar’s a “climate denier”?”
it’s a shorthand term for a climate change (i.e., AGW) denier, almost always applied to anyone who is only a CAGW denier.
“Climate” denier has no literal meaning. It is a derogatory phrase designed to attack and denigrate anyone who does not believe in a man-made, catastrophic climate crisis. It is designed to equate such people with holocaust deniers, in other words, pseudo-nazis; vile, stupid and evil.
Goodwin’s Law states: “As a discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hitler approaches 1.” The law has evolved some corollaries, such as: “…there is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned Adolf Hitler has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress. This principle is itself frequently referred to as Godwin’s law.” [Wikipedia]
Gore, Brown, Nye and a host of other CAGW supporters usually throw out the Nazi reference in their first sentence, validating the corollary to Goodwin’s law. Any discussion is now over, but they do not seem to realize that they have lost the argument!
It’s always the same with the Al Gores of this world: They will freely and frequently admit to understanding very little science but somehow know which scientists are correct and which ones are not.
He relies almost entirely on what his prime advisor, Hansen, tells him.
“For more than 40 years, former Vice President Al Gore has been at the forefront of the movement to invent a global climate crisis.”
Gore + Jerry Brown + M Bloomberg = Larry + Curly + Moe
We ARE IN a fricking ICE AGE.
Can’t any of these idiots be bothered enough to figure it out?
Al Gore in the Church of Warming is the equivalent of Joel Osteen. Both enrich themselves off the spirituality of their ignorant flocks.
Perhaps, but at least Osteen provides an uplifting message, makes people [feel] good and puts on a good show. Gore just spews fear, doom and disaster, and is somehow boring in the process!
That alone is sufficient reason to re-elect DJT.
Yep, I still have my giant clothespin, and now have my rubber stamp ready for 2020. No other Republican could possibly have the chutzpah or the cajones to go up against the CAGW establishment the way he has.
We are engaged in a great political struggle between the skeptics/climate realists who simply want the truth about climate told and pseudoscientists, rent-seekers, and humanity-haters who want to see their careers in professional lying extended, and keeping the gravy train trundling along, and the downfall of the West.
There, fixed.
Can’t be drugged or bought (like Obama)
is more like it.
they were confident the US will regain its leadership position on climate change if Trump is defeated in the next presidential election.
“Regain the leadership position”: Brown and Lemmings come to mind.
Al Gore and his cronies are involved in one of the biggest scam rip offs in the US today. With the EPA under Obama punitive emission standards were passed for fossil fueled engine. Diesels used for construction, farming and highway transports were slapped with strict emissions that made manufacturers turn to designs that caused diesel engines to be forced to “regenerate” before they could be used for purpose. These engines were forced to eat their own exhaust at a high idle for 15 to 20 minutes before they were allowed to go about their business. Not only does this regeneration waste fuel and the operator’s time but it was also causing damage to some of the engines in the process. The worst part of this is that farmer’s and highway truckers were caught in this madness so the cost increases this caused to farming and transport was passed down to the consumers again. This regeneration cycle also wastes a lot of fuel in the process. So when manufacturer’s of diesels could not make these new punitive emission standards they were allowed to buy carbon and emission credits to offset their shortfalls. In steps Al Gore and his band of thieves and they are getting rich selling carbon and emission credits for no physical assets exchanging hands other than some carbon and emission certificates. Great scam if you can get it. This link to a NY Times article says a lot.http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/05/business/energy-environment/05truck.html.
A massive bureaucratic apparatus, the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), according to their website “was established by Presidential Initiative in 1989 and mandated by Congress in the Global Change Research Act (GCRA) of 1990 to “assist the Nation and the world to understand, assess, predict, and respond to human-induced and natural processes of global change.” Thirteen Federal entities participate the USGCRP programs.
Department of Commerce
Department of Agriculture
Department of Defense
Department of Energy
Department of Health & Human Services
Department of the Interior
Department of State
Department of Transportation
Environmental Protection Agency
National Aeronautics & Space Administration
National Science Foundation
Smithsonian Institution
U.S. Agency for International Development
In the1990 Congressional mandate, human-induced climate change is a given. That resulted in billions of dollars spent to indoctrinate the world on the untested hypothesis of global warming and not a cent to test the hypothesis. Unorthodox thinking is prohibited by the mandate. Every result from their studies is a “What if” result. Where are the “What if not” studies?
What chance do a few rational scientists have against this vast Establishment juggernaut of money and power? The resources are in place to accomplish good science. The mandate of the USGCRP must be redirected by Congress to emphasis finding the truth instead managing a multi-billion-dollar program to promote a political doctrine. That would really be draining the swamp.
Gore misspoke by saying President Trump can’t be educated on climate change. He should have said he can’t be indoctrinated.
On the subject of climate change, Al Gore = Al the bore. Please stop playing your broken record, Mr. Bore.
I am usually tolerant of different viewpoints, but when arrogant, monetized shortsightedness is elevated to the position of a “viewpoint” for the purpose of controlling people, that’s where I draw the line.
Without his AGW shenanigans, Al would have been forgotten a long time ago. Instead, it allowed him to become filthy rich, get a Nobel prize and be a mainstay among the jet-setting warmistas of the world, rubbing shoulders with world’s elites. He would be a has-been nobody without AGW gravy train…
It is very satisfying to watch one of the world’s premier AGW charlatans tantrum repeatedly that his formerly best milking cow just won’t produce for him anymore…
As for the rest of the world “pressing on” with AGW agenda – it is much easier to fool a man than to convince a man that he has been fooled…
I shudder to think where the western world would be now if DJT did not win and this AGW scan would rage on unabated…
Al “The Blimp” Gore is the Bozo the Clown of climate science, my opinion, and i hope I have not insulted any of the actors who played Bozo the Clown.
Gore took two elementary science courses in college, and couldn’t manage to get an A or B in either of them.
His 1980’s predictions sounded foolish then, and have proven to be foolish now.
Sometimes I listen to Trump, and wonder how he made so much money — he never sounds that smart, without a script to be read.
Al Bore is the Democrat equivalent of Trump — he doesn’t sound smart, but has made a lot of money.
Only in America.
