From the Department of amalgamated dumbasses who own mansions, comes this trailer via Newsbuster’s Noel Sheppard:
Showtime announced last year that it had commissioned Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron to produce an eight-part series for the network designed to scare the public into thinking the world is doomed as a result of global warming.
Coincidentally on Halloween, the cable network released a trailer for the April 2014 series entitled Years of Living Dangerously and credits that identify key Hollywood contributors such as Jessica Alba, Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, and Arnold Schwarzenegger (video follows with commentary):
Video follows:
The website describes the series thusly:
YEARS of LIVING DANGEROUSLY is global warming like you’ve never seen it before. Coming to SHOWTIME in April, this multi-part television event tells the biggest story of our time: climate change and the impact it’s having on people right now in the US and all over the world. Over the course of eight episodes, we’ll report on the crippling effects of climate change-related weather events and the ways individuals, communities, companies and governments are struggling to find solutions to the biggest threat our world has ever faced. An all-star cast of correspondents goes into the field—to Texas, Kansas, California, Colorado, New York, Maine, Montana, Washington, the Carolinas, Florida, the Middle East, Africa, the Andes, the North Pole, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the South Pacific—to meet the people and see the places affected by climate change.
Boo! Scary!
Now check out the stars involved in this nightmare:
Jessica Alba, Mark Bittman, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, America Ferrera, Harrison Ford, Thomas L. Friedman, Michael C. Hall, Chris Hayes, Olivia Munn, M. Sanjaya, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ian Somerhalder, and Lesley Stahl
There is a practical lesson to learn here (for the astute with a modicum of social skills):
. . . . Marry up! (a practice also known as “hypergamy”)

.
I didn’t really have a point, Zeke, just ramblings from atop the Ozarks from the mountain man. Sorry about my low social skill, 4-5-600 miles a day of travel doesn’t give much time. I only ramble because Smokey snips it, left alone I’d probably long ago just went port side so your blood pressure doesn’t elevate.
No thanks to the sedition led by Ted Cruz, with the survival budget the United States of America will get past its gravest crisis since the near Oligarch takeover during the Great Depression, or from Civil War … by basically the same Oligarchs. I suppose if you count Cruz as an agent of Imperial Canada the attempted overthrow could be treason instead of sedition.
Conservatives were vehemently opposed to freeing the slaves. It is interesting to note that, in 1860, the Democrats were the conservatives, while the Republicans were the left-leaning radicals.
Lincoln believed that rich Americans should pay more than their less wealthy friends and neighbors.
In shear numbers, more Americans died during the Civil War than in all other American Wars combined, of course this total includes the deaths of Confederates. It’s totally appropriate that the Tea Party wave the traitors flag Stars & Bars in defiance of the twice elected black President.
Conservative Oligarchs tried to undermine the Colonial rebellion against the British East India Company.
Conservatives vehemently warned us that it was unnatural to rebel to our Sovereign Lord, King George III, and that doing so would plunge the colonies into disorder. They assured us, as the father of Conservatism, Edmund Burke echoed, that social stability would only come from the small group of wealthy aristocrats ruling over the poor majority. Conservatives reiterated that it was the duty of the poor to obey their “betters.” Their rewards, after all, will come in Heaven.
Conservatives burned the houses of liberal soldiers and drove their families into the forest, ten percent of Americans died from this carnage before the United States came to be.
Thanks to the $24 billion exercise in Sedition the Sept jobs numbers came in nearly three weeks late. The 148,000 new jobs created last month were more than twice the rate of new workers entering the workforce, and you have workers leaving into retirement at a higher than normal rate with the peak of the Baby Boomers leaving for the rocking chair. This is basically what’s pushing down the unemployment rate and not huge numbers of ‘discouraged’ workers the media likes to talk about. Although a lot of older folks would keep working if they could find a decent job. We can’t all be paid blog personalities in our twilight years like Smokey.
The best estimate for the economic damage from the right wing Sedition is a 0.25% reduction in GDP or about $40b per year for the foreseeable future, that is until the economy fully recovers from its current slump. The Republicans have already hindered GDP growth by one percentage per year for the three years that they’ve controlled the House. They are currently cutting output by 3% or about half a trillion dollars each year and the damage continues to build.
All but the most stupid of Republican leaders know that this is the effect that they’re having on the economy. You can tell because they create talking points that say exactly the opposite.
Full disclosure: I found out from my employer that my insurance meets the new requirements.
Another academy award he is chasing? I think he forgets that submarine volcanic vents create chemosynthesis conditions and where there is no sunlight these represent early life of this planet when they adjusted to no photosynthesis. Oh Well, I watched some joker talk about how we are killing the planet etc., and while studying film at University, we learned that people are attracted ie. the likely audience, to genre that interest them. Well obviously the audience he will attract will be alarmists and the IPCC. Only the believers and most will watch out of interest I suspect. Giving them the confidence to copy and quote his beliefs. He is a smart film maker, he knows he will have a large audience qualifying the expense of the movie. Let’s hope it gets poor reviews.
According to sooth sayers, there will be a great economic division one day. But they forget the middle class the meat in the sandwich so to speak. The employed or business owners, but we employee class or pension class are neo surfs. We are beholding on welfare to treat us well or being able to maintain a permanent job.

Making stuff up wholesale now Ed? Sure looks like it from where I stand …
What I’m wondering, is, how does a man cultivate a perspective so warped? Does this take a constant diet of MSNBC? ANd the other MSM outlets? A full half-hour of non-stop indoctrination (excepting Cialis et al commercials) 7 nights a week at 6:30 PM eastern or 5:30 PM central? Does it require a paid-up subscription to the Utne Reader or Workers World? Mother Jones? An IQ that tops out at under 80 maybe? Can you enlighten us on your ‘secret to success’ and your key to understanding the political world, Ed?
At what point would you ‘petition’ your govt for redress of an issue? When you are the last man standing and all others are enslaved? What issues would take up in protest? Any issues at all? Taxes? Excessive taxes? Abuse of ‘power’ granted the Executive branch? To what level of abuse? What was your reaction to Clinton’s impeachment? I have to assume at this point you approve of all that the present administration has done, and the way they have done it or the ‘manner’ in which it is has been done.
We so seldom get your ‘type’ under a microscope for examination, and I’m curious what makes an odd-duck like yourself ‘tick’.
.
LOL at this just below … Ed, you work very hard to self-deceive … or is this just straight-away dissembling on your part for our ‘benefit’?

Thanks for the correction. Not that I’m surprised. It seems an egregious violation to convert ‘unobtainium’ from it’s ironic use by the slash dot crowd, to a serious and literal use for his smurfy enviro-polemic.
Thanks again. I owned some of those albums. Yes, Uriah Heap, etc. I like the artwork, but it wasn’t all that important to me, so I never knew the artist’s name, till now. Which album cover(s) had the floating islands?
A few years back, I briefly played World of Warcraft (I didn’t have a life). One of the off-world expansion map areas had floating islands in the sky, which I thought were the inspiration for Cameron. Do you know if Roger Dean was credited in that design? Or did Blizzard ‘borrow’ his work, too?
Wish I had showtime..so I could cancel it
This movie should really seal it ….the zenith of scaring and crying wolf …..btw Jaymam …..James Cameron buying land in NZ is sort of ironic giving the recent bout of earthquakes that have been occurring there …good luck to him …
Blockbuster alert. Cameron did not get the Oscar for Avatar, his ex-wife stole it away. Now, Jimmy boy goes for a sure hit, climate change. And with a line-up only matched by Sylvester Stallone’s “Expendables”, or maybe old, classic “The Dirty Dozen”, this really could make some dollars, some awards, and maybe even a Nobel Peace price.
The only problem is, the whole thing is based on climate-alarmist lies. Propaganda sells lies. What You want to show in this series has never, and will never be the truth. It does not matter how many stars You line up, Jimmy, a lie is a lie. It does not matter how many dollars You spend. You should listen to the dialogue from your own Terminator movies: “What’s wrong with this picture?” The emperor has no clothes on. The tailors have fooled him, and they have fooled You too.
Climate alarmism is falsified by the evidence. We do not need this series, it is pre-1998 propaganda, and most of the points You are trying to make have long since been rejected by most climate-informed people on the planet.
Look, Jimmy-boy. It’s okay to stick to science-fiction, and if You are moving along this line, You keep making science fiction, with emphasis on FICTION, NOT SCIENCE. But I feel this will be a bore compared to some of Your movies.
More in line with Your creative and anti-authoritarian Genius would be to reveal the truth about the total corruption of the climate science by the left-wing alarmists, through an action hero in a solid, epic tale, making him or her save us from the Global anti-scientific, media pumped-up, dollar-stealing industry of the IPCC, Michael Mann, James Hansen and Al Gore.
That would be a movie to remember, whereas this series idea of Yours will be of no use to mankind.
Jimmy, You got that one wrong.
You should be saying: “If Your doctor lied to You, telling You that You had a terminal, malignant illness, and 99% of all doctors did the same, would You trust Obamacare?”
Well, alas, this is the case of Your so-called climate scientists. They are paid to tell us that something is wrong with the climate system, and that mankind is to blame, even if it is a lie. This is the core of the IPCCs mission.
Would You, James Cameron, trust a doctor who was paid to make You believe that your lifestyle, no matter how healthy, would lead to lung-cancer, heart failure or alzheimers? And if he or her was also paid to falsify all health test You supposedly took, or to tell You that a cold or a pimple on Your nose would lead to Your imminent death, would You trust it? These are the inner workings and methods of Your so-called climate scientists.
So, Jimmy boy, if You should ever get a symptom of any kind, a sunburn, a scratch or something … And Your trusted doctor would present Your diagnosis the same way Your climate ‘scientist’ would, if I were You, I think I really would be getting a second opinion.
Be a mensch man, don’t do this series.
