James Cameron decides to scare people about climate at Halloween

From the Department of amalgamated dumbasses who own mansions, comes this trailer via Newsbuster’s Noel Sheppard:

Showtime announced last year that it had commissioned Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron to produce an eight-part series for the network designed to scare the public into thinking the world is doomed as a result of global warming.

Coincidentally on Halloween, the cable network released a trailer for the April 2014 series entitled Years of Living Dangerously and credits that identify key Hollywood contributors such as Jessica Alba, Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, and Arnold Schwarzenegger (video follows with commentary):

Video follows:

The website describes the series thusly:

YEARS of LIVING DANGEROUSLY is global warming like you’ve never seen it before. Coming to SHOWTIME in April, this multi-part television event tells the biggest story of our time: climate change and the impact it’s having on people right now in the US and all over the world. Over the course of eight episodes, we’ll report on the crippling effects of climate change-related weather events and the ways individuals, communities, companies and governments are struggling to find solutions to the biggest threat our world has ever faced. An all-star cast of correspondents goes into the field—to Texas, Kansas, California, Colorado, New York, Maine, Montana, Washington, the Carolinas, Florida, the Middle East, Africa, the Andes, the North Pole, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the South Pacific—to meet the people and see the places affected by climate change.

Boo! Scary!

Now check out the stars involved in this nightmare:

Jessica Alba, Mark Bittman, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, America Ferrera, Harrison Ford, Thomas L. Friedman, Michael C. Hall, Chris Hayes, Olivia Munn, M. Sanjaya, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ian Somerhalder, and Lesley Stahl

I actually LOVE watching this kind of nonsense. After years of debating climate deniers who only believe something is real if it supports their climate apocalypse cult I find it very cathartic to watch programs like this where they pretend to be sciency while ignoring reams of data, and heck often if contradicting other doomsayers who pretend to be sciency on the topic. They dont even seem to realize they often contradict eachother on claimed settled science. Its like a twilight episode or something. I end up laughing the whole time. Nothing to be concerned over for sure, they have likely converted everyone they can expect to considering all the data piling up against the mythology. They may very well continue to push society to their promsied land of extreme top down control that would make most dictators of the past blush, and of course the fabled carbon tax. It certainly wont be these fools that put them over the top but rather the momentum and fear they already have forged into the devout.
I cant wait to see all the angles of study of this field we will have in the future, as the mythology crumbles. Just how DID and unproven theory with massive holes from the start that ran from ANY debate and relied on only fragments of nown data convince so many we had something to fear from co2? Strangely even as real enviro threats and issues in the oceans for example are very real and pressing some of which could hit critical periods decades before even the devout tell us agw will outweigh benefits. I expect this will be studied for several generations. I cant help but laugh.

CBS Corp’s President & CEO Leslie Moonves & Executive Chairman Sumner Redstone are unusual among media execs in sometimes donating to GOP candidates. Redstone was for Kerry (in the primaries) before he was against him in the 2004 general election. If they could find some anti-CACA celebs to entice viewers, they might be open to producing a pro-reality movie about climate.

They will of course all be acting in order to earn their next meal, Not many actors have much between their ears to listen to the true debate and come to their own conclusions. Just like the AGW crowd of so called scientists who are prepared to act and lie against empirical scientific facts in order to keep milking the grant stream which gives them a lifestyle they could not otherwise achieve.

I’m afraid that Donald Trump & Ted Nugent alone won’t suffice:
http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/climate-weather/photos/7-surprising-global-warming-deniers/nonbelievers
But maybe some respectable scientists, popular weathercasters & architects of well-known buildings might help. What a pity for so many reasons that Dr. Michael Crichton is no longer among us.

Here is some dialog to add to the script.
Winston, how many fingers am I holding up to represent Arctic ice left? Four fingers sir. ZAP Argh! …..Crying
Winston, how many fingers am I holding up? Whatever you say. What is the right answer? ZAP argh! …..Crying.
Winston, how many fingers am I holding up? No fingers and no ice left sir. That’s the right answer because you say so. Now please stop
Winston, who are we at war against? Carbon sir, we are at war against carbon. Now please stop the pain. And Winston, if we say carbon is hiding in the deep oceans and no one can see it are we right? Yes, you are always right sir. Good Winston, very good.
Now we will move to room 101. What is in room 101 sir? It is Al Gore’s science room Winston.
…pain, crying follows

Trailer Summary: Carbon footprint leading celebrities band together to show the rest of us how we should be living. Neato! Where’s the movie that shows fuel poverty happening all over the world as the result of green mandates?

I noticed Bob Inglis (former Congressman from SC) in the trailer, saying something like he didn’t understand why republicans don’t believe the scientists about AGW. If the producers think Bob Inglis is a responsible advocate for the AGW “crisis,” they are really confused. I live in Inglis’ congressional district, helped elect and re-elect him for 4 terms. However, when he began insulting his own voters and adopting the Al Gore AGW – Carbon Tax policies, I parted company with him, and we voted him out 3 to 1 in favor of Trey Gowdy. I have spoken with him and questioned him at a few political townhouse meetings. He has no scientific or engineering background, and was virtually incompetent when he was Ranking Member on the House Committee on Science and Technology and the Subcommittee on Enerty and Environment. He has a small general law practice in Greenville and is Executive Director of the “Energy and Enterprise Initiative” based in Virginia. Believe me, any one of the regular posters to WUWT can “take him to the woodshed” on AGW or probably any other scientific issue. I can’t wait to see this film.

Right. Let me get this straight here.
PS Is that enough morons?
Only if you also count all the brain-dead morons who subscribe to Showtime. I mean, how good is your brain really going to function if you spend all your waking hours in front of a gigantic flat screen TV watching CGI fantasy that purports to be fact?
(Sigh!) What proportion of the population really spends their time that way?

I’d like to see someone make a British comedy about how bogus CAGW is, once it gets de-throned.
Just sayin’

Just a thought if anyone watches this film, check out the disclaimer at the end, Blair Witch 1 was thought to be factual, and my younger son was caught until I told him the disclaimer at the end of the film. ‘Fictious’. Maybe Cameron is after another academy award? Like Gore?

I read:

YEARS of LIVING DANGEROUSLY is global warming like you’ve never seen it before….

Now here is how to live dangerously. But first a quote from James Cameron:

James Cameron
We’re going to have to live with less” [LA Times]

In 2010 it was reported that James Cameron owns the following.
3 adjacent villas in Malibu (total 24,000 sq ft of living space) + 3 heated pools.
A 100-acre ranch in Santa Barbara
JetRanger helicopter
3 Harleys
a Corvette
a Ducati,
a Ford GT
a yacht
a Humvee fire truck
a fleet of submarines
Now how about that ladies and gentlemen? There are many, many more like him in Hollywood. “Do as we say, and not as we do.” Yeah, that’s the ticket. This is why I pay no attention to these bastards.

“The government also signed an agreement this week with western U.S. states called the Pacific Coast Collaborative, to extend efforts to put a regional price on carbon. California has launched its own cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions, and B.C. continues to administer a carbon tax on fossil fuels imposed in 2006.
B.C. Environment Minister Mary Polak signed the agreement in San Francisco with Washington Governor Jay Inslee, Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber and California Governor Jerry Brown.
Kitzhaber said more than 500,000 people on the North American west coast now work in green economy jobs, and the region will lead the way in the future.”
Is that claim real or does it include civil service too?

This agreement has no teeth, as an editorial in Friday’s Seattle Times lamented.

“global warming like you’ve never seen it before”…
I don’t think these assclowns understand that the louder they shout, the further folks living in the real world put their fingers deeper into their ears. As for ‘stars’, oh really? If it is, epic credibility fail and further evidence that there is no science involved.

The elite seem to be unaware of the negative connotations of hypocrisy. In fact it seems to be a positive trait; a badge of honor.

I pity you poor bastards, in the USA. Stuck with Obama and the luvvie-liberal media and arts crowd until 2016, …

Make that 2014, known as the “mid-terms” (mid term election meaning the “mid term of the president”).
What is problematic is the consistent lack of backbone in some prominent leaders in the opposition party to the dems (note how I did not classify what part that is), perhaps remedial (made right or corrected) in the 2014 mid term elections. Maybe … nothing is ever for certain in politics. The race to watch this year is in the election this coming week in Virginia, the governor’s race. We’ll see how ‘fed up’ the electorate is with the ‘one’ (the “O’s”) party …

VA gubernatorial race is relevant to this blog, since if the Republican “Cooch” wins, Mann is in trouble. It’s a three-way race, but the crony “capitalist” Democrat McAu remains ahead. Democrat turnout, usually lower in off-year elections, will decide it.

WUWT says, “From the Department of amalgamated dumbasses who own mansions
Matt Damon was actually recently working really hard campaigning for the failing public schools in Los Angeles. While campaigning about “the importance of public education,” he was in fact sending his children to a private school. “Matt Damon Refuses to Enroll Kids in Los Angeles Public Schools. Choice ok for Damon, why not everyone else?”

“Sending our kids in my family to private school was a big, big, big deal. And it was a giant family discussion. But it was a circular conversation, really, because ultimately we don’t have a choice,” Damon told the publication.
“I mean, I pay for a private education and I’m trying to get the one that most matches the public education that I had, but that kind of progressive education no longer exists in the public system. It’s unfair.”
The publication noted Damon’s public campaign against teachers’ pay being pegged to children’s test results.
http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Jeb-Bush-Matt-Damon/2013/08/06/id/519086?s=al&promo_code=1470E-1

The Newsmax article concludes with this description of Damon’s latest movie: “”Elysium” as a “big-budget action film that condemns a future Los Angeles where the super-rich use their wealth and privilege to separate themselves and their families from the city’s poor.”
Obviously he will not need any acting capabilities to perform that role.

Ted Cruz has worked to strip funding for Obamacare. So what is your point? Meanwhile, the architects and legislators who have supported and passed this 2700 page monstrosity are all getting exemptions from Obamacare, and are handing them out to their political constituents such as Unions, and the IRS itself!
Conservatives voted over 30 times to repeal Obamacare, and have continued to work to defund it and EXEMPT AMERICA.
