From the Department of amalgamated dumbasses who own mansions, comes this trailer via Newsbuster’s Noel Sheppard:
Showtime announced last year that it had commissioned Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron to produce an eight-part series for the network designed to scare the public into thinking the world is doomed as a result of global warming.
Coincidentally on Halloween, the cable network released a trailer for the April 2014 series entitled Years of Living Dangerously and credits that identify key Hollywood contributors such as Jessica Alba, Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, and Arnold Schwarzenegger (video follows with commentary):
Video follows:
The website describes the series thusly:
YEARS of LIVING DANGEROUSLY is global warming like you’ve never seen it before. Coming to SHOWTIME in April, this multi-part television event tells the biggest story of our time: climate change and the impact it’s having on people right now in the US and all over the world. Over the course of eight episodes, we’ll report on the crippling effects of climate change-related weather events and the ways individuals, communities, companies and governments are struggling to find solutions to the biggest threat our world has ever faced. An all-star cast of correspondents goes into the field—to Texas, Kansas, California, Colorado, New York, Maine, Montana, Washington, the Carolinas, Florida, the Middle East, Africa, the Andes, the North Pole, Indonesia, Bangladesh and the South Pacific—to meet the people and see the places affected by climate change.
Boo! Scary!
Now check out the stars involved in this nightmare:
Jessica Alba, Mark Bittman, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, America Ferrera, Harrison Ford, Thomas L. Friedman, Michael C. Hall, Chris Hayes, Olivia Munn, M. Sanjaya, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ian Somerhalder, and Lesley Stahl
PS to my previous post.
I am currently a guest in the state of our host, in fact in San Francisco. I am simply not good enough to attempt to mirror Willis Eschenbach’s splendid posts from his visit to my country which is why I haven’t bothered. All I will say is that I’m having a lovely time and intend to carry on enjoying myself until I leave next Tuesday, when I will cease to be in the same country as this Cameron, and rejoin one whose government is led by a different Cameron. There appears to be little difference in their respective mental powers (or, indeed, in those of almost all our current political ‘leaders’). Ho hum.
Oh yes. One thing which has made my visit so enjoyable was seeing The Raiders win last Sunday. I’m hoping to repeat the experience this Sunday.
America, I salute you.
Royal Society for Putting Things on top of other things… Gentlemen, I have bad news. This room is surrounded by film.

Hollywood should stick to science fiction. If they drop the ‘fiction’ part, they are completely lost.
James Cameron actually traveled to the bottom of the Marianas trench so he has seen the devestation of deep sea global warming in the abyssal plain, the shrimp were reddening from the heat.
Its always the same with these agw types, use scare tactics to get people peeing down their leg and then theyre more pliable, its a form of terrorism imho.
Speaking of which, if you reside in the UK you could always sign my E petition to get greenpeace declared a terrorist organisation, if you want to of course, nothing bad will happen to you if you dont, like a polar bear falling off an ice cube. 🙂

Too much deep sea diving has addled the man’s brains. All that green garbage amongst his synapses is going to produce a TV series with more lies in it than Al Gore’s double decade of deceit.
Remember Jim, we are a carbon based life form and carbon dioxide is neither poison or pollutant…..
Jessica Alba, Mark Bittman, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, America Ferrera, Harrison Ford, Thomas L. Friedman, Michael C. Hall, Chris Hayes, Olivia Munn, M. Sanjaya, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ian Somerhalder, and Lesley Stahl certainly do make a great cast for a farcical comic-tragedy set in an imaginary World wracked by fraudulent Alarmism.
Showtime is owned by the two Oligarchs of CBS fame. That is the problem with liberals now, they are nothing but an intermediary for Oligarch rule. Much the same as their opposition. They are certainly not related to the liberals that led the Colonial rebellion against the British East India Company.
I’ve heard of Harrison (Star Wars) Ford and Arnold (Terminator)
Schwarzenegger. Great films, real additions to the gallery of visual literature
and human creativity.
But who the `Hot Place’ are the rest?

In considering your comment I was struck by the fact that most of us are ourselves most of the time. Acting like someone else is necessarily not being yourself (which is why it is called ‘acting’). So what, precisely, is it that elevates someone that portrays whom they are not (for a living) to anything that resembles trust and respect when, supposedly, they are being themselves (whatever that is)?
For a great swath of humanity such a question makes zero sense. Powerful people speak power. Authority. I get it. “Ve vill make it dis vay, and ju vill like it!”
The ‘Burn’ Supremacy
But perhaps the most interesting question of all is “What else would you expect at a half precession-cycle old extreme interglacial?”
That being an inconvenient question, reliance is then placed on the attention span of the late Holocene hominid……….played here by James Cameron ad infinitum

Sure hope they didn’t kill any Russians
So just like in the movie 2012 (which I’ve cleverly avoided seeing), they’ll be acting too?

Acting, being of course chartered deceit, the answer would therefore appear, repeat appear, to be ‘yes’.
I would have more sympathy, if not outright belief, if those who support green solutions really took the issue seriously and got behind the one means of generating electricity that would resolve much of the issue. Only by utilising the nuclear process can this be achieved. What the world requires for all its peoples is a method that resolves the concerns that have surrounded older reactors, usage of the by products as weapons, what to do with the waste, safety of the reactor in an accident and so on. The answer to all these problems has been there for more than half a century, it is the Molten Salt Reactor. This device, using plentiful thorium as a fuel, would unlock the poverty that holds harness on so many as well as providing polluting free power for the already advanced nations. That this is steadfastly ignored is one of the great failings of todays so called world leaders.
Come on guys. lets face it.
James Cameron has always been absolutely fabulous at fantasy and science fiction.
He lives in a MAKE-BELIEVE world, like all the actors he works with.
Why should he change now ???
ps.. I wish I had his imagination….
but I am NOT a registered climate scientist.
You must remember that 97% of people are idiots. They will be massively influenced by a group of famous idols. This could be the death throws of the AGW movement but only if this film cannot influence the idiots. This is unlikely to repeat the stupidity of gore, but who knows.
We cannot blame the USA for everything. After all, we created Nob Geldof, Stink, Bonio, and Vivienne (pass the incontinence pads) Westwood. Happily, Geldof will be gone in 17 years as his world ends then.

“I’ve heard of Harrison . . . ” . . . etc.
I noticed a few years ago I no longer recognize the faces on the glossy magazines as I approach the check-out lines at the local grocery store. Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day, James Dean, Katharine Hepburn, . . . not there!
My hypothesis is . . .
Wait a second. What is Showtime? Is that like the 25¢ Saturday matinee?
Anybody else abused animals like they did that horse, you’d never hear the end of it. What do you bet nobody says anything?
There’s something distinctly unpleasant about the aristocracy deciding that the peasants are consuming too many resources. In the past the rich controlled the forests, limiting the fuel the poor could burn and the food they could eat. We see a return to that but this time they even want to control the air we breath.
[An] actor talking without a script is seldom worth listening to.
To get starring roles, actors are reliant upon producers and directors liking them. If the director is a political flaming idiot then it pretty well follows that the actor will adopt the director’s political view – in other words, the actor will be a suck up and likely comes to believe the flaming idiocy. It is not unusual to see the actor become a bigger idiot. After all, to remain a big star requires lots of headlines, and being a “champion” of something gets headlines – even if it is idiocy.
The same thing happens in academia where it is even worse.
They are actors not climate scientists. And the documentary is not peer-reviewed. The CAGW curia is gonna rip them a new one.
Now take a look at the “Science Advisors” to the series:
Robert Corell, Heidi Cullen, Charles H. Greene, James Hansen, Katharine Hayhoe, Radley Horton, Michael Mann, Michael Oppenheimer, Joseph Romm
It’s gonna be a seriously twisted series. Pretty much like the Kardashians.
