When in Doha, do as the Dohans do.

The graphed data was taken from here

Temperatures go UP in the N.H. during the summer, down in the winter.
Same thing in the S.H., but upside down!
Thus the response time of the atm. is essentially 1 YEAR, as an “equilibrium system”.
Biggest cause of upward and downward trends, ALBEDO or the number of clouds.
This varies over decades and centuries.
CO2 has a consistancy, with a slight (judgement there) upward trend.
A 16 year equilibrium, with the gradual…but consistant upward trend for CO2, tends to put a BIG QUESTION MARK on the thesis of CO2’s influence, based on a historically errornous analysis method which ignores (or homogenizes) the Doppler Shift and Lorentz broadening of the IR spectral absorption and re-emission, and also does not properly account for the curvature of the Earth and the subsequent “side emission” of the IR, below Pi/2 of the tangent to the surface at any point.
There’s a mouthful. Those with ears to hear and a MIND TO THINK may be given pause.

Science of the medieval Arabs ( numbers, algebra, astronomy etc) started renaissance of the science in Europe.
Now at the Doha gathering there is a pamphlet on sale:
AlGorithms the prophesies of AlGore
al-Khwārizmi would not be a happy man.

Here’s another cartoon-idea for Josh:
Monckton as a finger-pointing, giggling “little boy” and “Fat Albert” as the naked emperor.
I recall, a few years ago, a cartoon posted here (?) showing an incredibly pompous, arrogant emperor stepping out like a king of France under a shade (with IPCC written on it) carried by four flunkies before a cowed/bemused crowd of onlookers. I’d love to see that again.

“Science of the medieval Arabs ( numbers, algebra, astronomy etc) started renaissance of the science in Europe.”
If at all it was the science of the first 2 centuries of Islam, after which religious hardliners prohibited naturalistic illustrations, bringing science to an end.
The zero (which the Romans didn’t have, forcing them to use different symbols for every magnitude) was an Indian invention and only transmitted through the Kalifat. Not invented by them.

(Reposted from the prior thread):

“Moncky Business”

Wonderful. Maybe Josh could do a cartoon thus titled showing the Viscount swinging from the rafters and making faces at the dopes below–or laying a banana peel in the path of a pompous emperor.

Satire is good, but I think it is lost on those who should be paying the most attention.

Thanks for the laugh Josh. Oh that evil Lord Monckton, how dare he present facts and tell the truth!!! ;-))

This is a wonderful cartoon: Josh at the top of his game. Good on yer, mate! That’s my Christmas card sorted, then.
And let no one excoriate the Muslims for becoming unscholarly after having abandoned ishtihad in the 10th century (on the engagingly barmy ground that every possible situation that a theologian might encounter had already been pronounced upon, so theology was complete and had nothing more to offer).
Despite this unpromising lurch in the direction of the Dark Ages, Islam continued to produce some fine scholars. In 11th-century Iraq, for instance, Al-Haytham first propounded what we now recognize as the scientific method. This outstanding mathematician, astronomer and philosopher of science wrote: “The seeker after truth does not place his faith in any mere consensus, however venerable: instead he subjects what he has learned of it to his own hard-won scientific knowledge, and to scrutiny, investigation, inspection, inquiry, checking, checking and checking again. The road to the truth is long and hard, but that is the road we must follow.”
Also, without the Muslim librarians at Cordoba, many of the classical texts that I had the pleasure of studying at Cambridge would not have survived. The future of Islam lies only in a remembering of the many scholars who once made it a religion of rationality and enlightenment, and in a return to ishtihad.
Merry Christmas!

Ok Josh, you beat me to it!…:-D

December 7, 2012 12:08 pm

Nice one Josh. I hope Anthony won’t mind if I add it to my own ‘Doh! Ha! thread.

December 7, 2012 12:30 pm

A good point, well made Christopher.
By the way I’m certain that if you were ever to to ‘turn’ from your skeptical stance, there’s a job waiting for you in the Stunt’s Department at Greenpeace!!

Doha? Ha!
Dough? Ha Ha! (as in, you ain’t gettin any)
D’oh! Ha ha!

December 7, 2012 12:45 pm

Brilliant! I wonder what the punishment for Global Warming heresy is?

December 7, 2012 12:49 pm

quit on a win, sir (Monckton)
you’ve just demonstrated no acquaintance with the koran or hadith.
stick to what you know and you’ll be quite fine.
fall prey to the guru-syndrome and we’ll lose an admirable compatriot.

has Co2 now had enough. You can only laugh at plant food for so long.

This IPCC graph definitely show that the Lord Moncton’s claim is wrong!

Like blondes, “climate change deniers” have more fun.
BTW, are you related to Russel Brand? (Another irrepressible British “bad boy”.)
Hey, here’s an idea – maybe you could match wits with Brand. (He has his own TV show: ) At least the opposition would have a chance.

Vukcevic , that was very funny.

Thanks for the laughter today! I need a distraction from how cold the temperature has dropped from -17C to -27C and colder. That and the winds we had just two days ago with windchills reaching -32C. So thanks again posters and Josh for distracting me it made my day.
Merry Christmas wishes for everyone, and their families!

So the wise man went home by another way. (:
However, Herod is still out there, looking to end the debate:
“The WCIT, which began on December 3 and will go until the 14th, is being held in Dubai, a fitting place for a conference on Internet regulation. The United Arab Emirates issued a decree just last month that completely shut down the nation’s final remaining outpost of free speech, which was already strictly controlled.” etc. Dubai is not far from CoP18. And it is a “treaty-signing” summit.

Another good cartoon and now I have one or more for every month next year, I’m trying hard not to look at my calendar beforehand.

At Doha Monckton of Arabia doesn’t believe there has been any real warming in the last 16 years, nor presumably does he believe in the “Flintstones”. However, the delegates from Abu Dhabi do!

December 8, 2012 10:19 am

Not sure they discuss temperature at Doha, “Hot”… Rather, they focus their cerebral energies around ways to hold up industrialized nations and steal their money.

Here’s another cartoon idea:
On the left, two monkeys, one that hears no evil and one that sees no evil, with their hands over their ears and eyes.
On the right is a monkey with a megaphone pointed at them, from which these words emerge: “No warming for 16 years!”

Atmospheric CO2 : (In words) one twenty fifth of one percent; (as percent) .04%; (as decimal) 0.0004; (as fraction) 1⁄2500
And we are going to alter the behavior of the atmosphere by tinkering with that infinitesimal one twenty five hundredth fraction that is carbon dioxide?

December 9, 2012 10:22 pm

I have been looking, in vain, for a list of the 37 countries out of 194 that signed Kyoto 2 until 2020 (Only 8 years?), does anyone know (Apart from Australia, the, errrmmm, “lucky”country *ahem*)?
