This is quite some headline on E&E’s Climatewire this morning. I’d call it “unprecedented”.
Unfortunately, the story is behind a paywall, so we can’t read why they think this way.
But it underscores the desperation that is permeating the mainstream climate community…they have come to realize that climate has become a taboo political subject, one almost guaranteed to be political suicide this year.
Add the fact that the Goreacle has fallen off the radar…
And Romney got a standing ovation at the RNC for this line mocking Obama’s “healing the planet” speech…
“President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans,” pausing for the audience to laugh at the absurdity, “and to heal the planet. My promise … is to help you and your family.”
I think we can safely say that global warming as a campaign issue for the left is dead.
We’ll see tonight if Obama needs the money that bad:
Oh, and then there’s this:
Climate change so serious Democrats mention it once in over 80 speeches over two days
UPDATE: Tom Nelson has this worth sharing:
One of five Obama quotes that you may not hear in his speech tonight: “As we speak…cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking coastlines in the Atlantic and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.”
[Obama] I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, ‘You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.’ So when Brian Williams is asking me about what’s a personal thing that you’ve done [that’s green], and I say, you know, ‘Well, I planted a bunch of trees.’ And he says, ‘I’m talking about personal.’ What I’m thinking in my head is, ‘Well, the truth is, Brian, we can’t solve global warming because I f—ing changed light bulbs in my house. It’s because of something collective’.”
2. Rise Of The Oceans Sound Clip , Quote, MP3, and Ringtone – Hark
[Obama] “This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow, and our planet began to heal.”
3. Obama: My Plan Makes Electricity Rates Skyrocket – YouTube
Barack Obama: “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” (January 2008)
4. Obama Says He Will Control Your Thermostat, “We can’t drive our SUVs”… – YouTube
obama oregon May 17 2008 “We can’t drive our SUVs and, you know, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on, you know, 72 degrees at all times…and then just expect every other country is going to say OK…”
5. Joe Soucheray: For those who believe anything, it’s easy to believe in Obama
“As we speak,” Obama said in Berlin, “cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking coastlines in the Atlantic and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.”

[Oliver, you were previous banned for threadbombing off topic stuff, I decided to let you back in to see if you’ve learned anything, and here you are doing the exact same thing again. You’ve leaned nothing, so I’m showing you the door. – Anthony]
“Add the fact that the Goreacle has fallen of the radar…”
Wasn’t he last seen in Antarctica?……perhaps icebound?
American election time. The season of bonhomie, rational debate, and reliable promises is upon us.

Regarding Al Gore:
The well has dried …
… looking for money elsewhere …
“‘Well, the truth is, Brian, we can solve the debt if we change the f—ing dim bulb in the White House. It’s something collective’.”
The rot had set in by the end of the 1950’s as US President Eisenhower presciently observed:
“Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”
.”…the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.”
His 1961 farewell address is fascinating both for its sharp insights and the now rare spectacle of a straightforward man of great substance and power laying out the conflicting issues.
Why would roughly 100 donors threaten to withhold donations? Is it because they feel strongly that global warming….errr…climate change…..errr….climate disruption is the the most important issue facing Americans? Or is it because they have first class tickets on the climate alarmist gravy train and they want to ensure it takes them all the way to the station? Wouldn’t it be interesting to know who the names of the 100 donors/organizations referenced?
Al who???
Most unnecessary sarc tag of the day award goes to….

Yet the likes of Gore will, in truth, just move on to the next snake-oil sales pitch with no conscience and certainly no accountability…….That’s for little people I guess. Along with the swathe of new taxes his last wheeze has induced our political masters to burden us with.
Same sh**, different package.
Climate skepticism may have the winning political position right now but it doesn’t support the case we are trying to make.
Politics is not truth.
I hope it is true that the public really understands that climate alarmism is a pack of lies but I think they are probably more concerned with getting a decent job.
We need to improve our radar technology if something as large as the ManBearPig can’t be detected.
Shhhh! You’ll wake him…
I’m sure he’s not forgotten climate change, and saving the earth.
The problem is, Obama’s not going to win by telling everyone what he plans to do about it. So he’s going to publicly keep his plans on the down-low, while privately telling these people what they want to hear.
Hold on to your wallets, and your jobs, if you can.
Obama is the Pear Harbour America narrowly avoided the second time, by not electing Gore as President. However, once again, “the sleeping giant is awakening.”

Lets be fair…. Obama claimed that his inauguration marked “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow…” Well, OK, look at the chart:
http://sealevel.colorado.edu/files/2011_rel4/sl_ns_global.png
The rise of the ocean HAS slowed. I don’t know why the CAGW crowd don’t acknowledge the slow down. I guess they are just racists.
“Gore will be nowhere in sight”
An accurate description of Current TV’s ratings.
Maybe Al Gore was frozen in carbonite like Hans Solo way–they’ll bring Gore back in 500 years to see if his catastrophic predictions come true. How ironic they’d use carbonite…
Since the question has been asked…
Al Gore is out campaigning to abolish the electoral college.
Busy little fellow that Al Gore, and oh so much smarter than all the rest of us.

Have a great day.
Isn’t Al supposed to be revolutionizing broadcasting with his new channel, Current TV? He even hired Olberman to anchor there! Oh right, they had to fire him again a few weeks later because not even the leftie’s can stand to be in the same room with him for very long.
It’s funny to see how sympathetic outlets, like the Puffington Host, will go to great lengths to try and cover up how *badly* Current TV is doing. (but advertisers know) Look through this article on recent convention coverage; useful because it’s one of the few times we can see straight-up head to head numbers on a national event with a national audience, which gives us a very good window on competitive viewership.
The article names the different networks covering the convention last week, and the breakdown. They point out that 9 different networks provided coverage, and give the numbers for each one EXCEPT for Current TV! Why leave that out? Because it’s embarrassing to point out just how badly it is doing, but you can still back their viewership numbers out of the data given.
from http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20120829/us-cvn-tv-ratings/
22.3 million total viewers, first night of gop convention coverage.
6.9 million, FOX
4.8 million, NBC
3.1 million, CBS
2.9 million, ABC
1.5 million, CNN
1.5 million, MSNBC
1.3 million, PBS
cspan not measured.
That adds up to 22 million viewers – but they point out that measured viewership was 22.3 million. So, the difference is Current TV’s total audience these days – 300,000 people. Out of a country of over 300 million, Al Gore still has a loyal, devoted following of 1/10th of 1 percent of the population.
No wonder Puffington wanted to bury the news!
Add the fact that the Goreacle has fallen of the radar…

Add the fact that the Goreacle has fallen OFF the radar…
Another classic headline, Anthony. Bravissimo!!
Ugh. Like the televised DNC, this post makes my eyes burn & leaves a bile taste in my mouth.
I hope The Dear Leader will brag about His pro-climate results in tonight’s speech.
Here are some highlights-
US carbon emissions for energy have fallen back to 1992 levels*.
Sea level- AVISO says- Gore=3.3mm/y, Bush=2.7mm/y, Obama=1.8mm/y
Global temperature trends- Gore: +0.34C/dec, Bush: -0.12C/dec, Obama: -0.45C/dec
With this CP**-certified data, the victory of socialism is assured!
*Since this was mostly due to the bad economy, for which He has blamed Bush, The Dear Leader didn’t actually build that carbon reduction, someone else made that happen. In politics, this is known as a minor quibble.
**CP- A common technique used in Climate Scientology to extract desirable policy-influencing patterns from noise, Cherry Picking is embraced by the IPCC, EPA, NASA, NOAA, WWF and various UN affiliations.

Unfortunately, most of the Democrats in Congress continue to sneak climate related nonsense into various Bills and Treaties.
For instance, the Farm Bill contains language related to the expansion of the Clean Water Act which will now include roadside ditches and gullies on private property. It also expands Federal lands which is completely stupid as Congress currently doesn’t have the money for necessary maintenance for existing Federal Parks and lands.
Kerry also attempted to sneak Cap and Trade legislation into the Law of the Sea Treaty. This is really evil as Treaties aren’t treated as standard legislation so they don’t get the same review and discussion.
