Real Science Announces the Death of Steve Goddard

The web site Real Science has posted an announcement of the death of blogger and former WUWT contributor Steve Goddard. WUWT has not yet been able to verify any of the details but Anthony has asked that the link be posted.

UPDATE :

An alternate Steve Goddard site is claiming that Real Science was hacked and that the death announcement is fake. WUWT is still unable to verify the details.

UPDATE 2:

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the report of the death of Steve Goddard is somewhat premature.  When I first e-mailed Anthony with this news, his first response was “I don’t know this might be a fake is real name is ….” a subsequent  e-mail responding to a link to the Real Science site noted “some of it jibes with what I know it some does not I’d be cautious…” then he asked me to post the link to the notice with a notice that we could not confirm anything.  Apparently his caution was justified and WUWT readers can be assured that Anthony keeps a close watch on his interns even when he takes a rare few hours off.

UPDATE # 3

Steve Goddard himself appears to have weighed in here at WUWT:

I’m fine. I was off at a soccer game when this happened. Basically, someone I trusted went insane and took control of the site. I still don’t have access, as my IP address has been blocked.

Good for you, Steve.
I was shocked and dismayed when I first read of your demise. I thought, “Not another one of the good guys!” First, there was the late, great John Daly, with the odious Phil Jones cackling when he died, and then Andy Breitbart [I’m probably forgetting one or two others].
Anyway, I’m very glad this was a hoax. With any luck the publicity will help add to your site traffic. Keep up the good fight! We are winning because of people like you; people who are getting the truth out.

Ah. If it’s the enemy that invades your camp, easily dealt with, victory party at 11:00. If this invader be of a different camp altogether, my sympathies Steve.

The Ghost Of Big Jim Cooley says:
Steve, I think you were off at a ‘football’ game. What the kinell is ‘soccer’?

Ghost,
Soccer is an archaic abbreviation for association football when it was still an upper class sport for gentlemen. It’s one of those jolly good English leisure class words that no longer command respect in the UK but remain customary in former colonies. I’ve heard the British call the game metric football or something like that now.
I was off to soccer games myself and I read about Steve’s departure only after he said the report’s been exaggerated. Soccer is good this way.

It is becoming more obvious that this Steve Goddard is now a Zombie. Starving for brains, he is prowling skeptical sites. It would be futile to prowl warmist sites as they were all zombiefied years ago, and there is not enough brain matter there to feed a zombie ant. If you possess a brain BEWARE.

G. Karst, that’s a difficult post to reply to. Therefore, I’ll leave you be!
Steve, good to hear you are back up and running: though I do not share your views, that can be debated and such debates should not need to descend to these levels, though additionally I again note your point that the problem has nothing to do with politics or climate. I say this as a “warmist”: this crap has to stop! It does nobody any favours whatsoever.

Er, football and soccer are used interchangeably in all of the UK not just England, unfortunately when the Amercains introduced body armour into the game of rugby they failed to come up with a new name for it, hence the confusion on the Colonials side of the pond. We understand the difference quite easily by just calling that padded game of rugby ‘American Football.’

You are right. It’s a pity that early American footballers did not adopt the proper original British term “Start-Stop Rugby with Padding”. That would have ended all confusion.
Well, whatever the name, it’s good that Steve’s been off to a game rather than off to heaven.

I don’t have to have a “peer reviewed” publication in order to prove the law of thermodynamics works, thank you, Jimbo!

I repeat, do you have any peer reviewed evidence that the weather is getting weirder? It’s a simple question really. 😉

If THE GAME was “metric” football, the goal would not be 2.44 m high and 7.32 m wide, it would be 2.5 m by 8 m (and more goals would be scored).

Wow, from grief to elation in less than a minute! Steve, sorry to hear of any defection. My encouragement in keeping the chin up – but maybe a facemask is needed.

Very pleased to hear that news of Steve’s death is greatly exaggerated! Congratulations on your resurgent health Steve, and may you live long past your purported 81 years.

The notice said that Steve Goddard was a Catholic, and that his remains would be cremated. The two don’t go together.

That is no longer true in Catholicism. I think the Catholic church rescinded its discouragement of cremation in 1997. My father was a devout Catholic, and was cremated in a Catholic crematory.
