When I suggested (WUWT May 22nd, 2007) that Mr. Watts park his gas guzzler in the garage, close all the doors and leave his engine running, it was a humourous [sic] yet effective attempt to make a point to all the ney [sic] sayers that man has drastically affected this planet’s climate as well as it’s [sic] very fragile, life supporting eco-systems.
I merely suggested that he try a little experiment at home comparing the effects from the exaust [sic] of just one running vehicle on his health as well as the probable increase of temperature in his garage. He obviously knows that many folks have commited [sic] suicide doing this or he wouldn’t have avoided the real issue and instead call me a vitral [sic] filled leftist or what ever he said at the time. If one car in an enclosed area ( like the Earth’s atmosphere) can kill someone, then imagine what six billion running cars can do.
In just the short time that the government insued [sic] a no fly rule after 9-11 where no planes were allowed in US skies, there was over a one degree cooling of the atmosphere’s temperature or something like that. Can you see where I’m going with this, or am I just another tree hugging earth lover with my head in the polluted clouds? I’m pretty sure this won’t be printed. We can expect as much from a man paid by the corporations to be a weapon of mass deception.

Let’s see, Ms. Quammen. Six billion running cars in the atmosphere… (bit more than we have, but never mind). Volume of lower atmosphere (below 5 km) is 2.55×10¹⁸ m³. Divided by 6 billion is 4.25×10⁸ m³, the volume containing a single running car. It is a spherical dome with diameter 1175 m (3856 feet) and height 588 m (1928 feet). You know what? I would risk being in a garage of that size while the engine is running…
Provided, of course, the atmosphere is well mixed. But this is why we have all those towers with huge industrial mixers installed; they make wind, don’t they?
When I read this I really just want to cry in despair. This is so typical of the young people, college educated, or not, but nonetheless brainwashed people in the western world. And they are the majority! They have been propagandized (if that’s a word) since birth by their parents, teachers, politicians and the “media.” They really believe this crap! How can this be overcome short of committing them all to a mental institution? Worse yet, they are active in promoting their mistaken views, attacking anyone who disagrees, pressuring politicians and voting. They use the same tactics as Goebbels who won over the majority of the German people to follow Hitler. Is there any hope? I am afraid that alex is right!

2. Low level of literacy, plus logic challenged, two of the commonest afflictions of the CAGW cult.
3. Spluttering bad science – an absolutely essential pre-requisite for belonging to the CAGW cult.
Cut her some slack. From the spelling alone, it’s obvious that she’s a recent unfortunate recipient of the finest kind of West Coast progressive educational system. That’s she will have a iifetime of trying to overcome the profoud effects of educational malpractice, is not her fault. But it is her parents’. The whole letter was long on feelings, and short on facts, as if her feelings validate any mis-facts she may have randomly accumulated from her feckless teachers (?!).
(Confession: I too have teenage children who have a distressingly slack attitude to correct spelling. And who seem to be impervious to my divers methods and encouragements, to impress upon them the vital necessity of always spelling perfectly in public, lest the public consider them to be forever a blooming lazy idiot. I remain persistent, in the forlorn hope that they will eventually take it to heart and learn from their heartaches of missed opportunities.)
I recall it was a temperature increase after 911.
It was related to a loss of contrail sun blocking.

OMFG … her music is truly awful ! Guess it follows from her inability in comprehension and writing skills.
Wow, just wow. It’s difficult to fit so many mistakes (grammar, spelling, and logic) in so few words.
How do you keep an electric motor (not engine) “running” when it’s not moving?

OK so I give up; which was the word, that you claim is spelled correctly ? So does the concow have a pedal operated generator running her computer; or what does she use for energy intake ?
Oops, should of read deeper in the comments and saw the photo. Turns out she’s not a recent graduate, and so actually has been mis-educated and not caring about it for a long lifetime. And therefore has already suffered the heartaches of missed opportunities and failed dreams.

Please! Don’t blame any school system for Sherri’s inability to spell or use logic. As a retired teacher, I know from experience that the stupid and ignorant parents tend to transmit that stupidity and ignorance to their children; fortunately, the congenitally stupid tend to be a minority.

I just find this letter sad. Hopefully there are some letters that Anthony receives that are much more knowledgeable as to the “debate” on climate change.
To be honest, while I’m on the side of believing that humanity’s impact on the climate is probably not that significant on a global scale (a position, I’ll admit, I didn’t always hold), I think that highlighting a letter such as this is just as wrong as when those on the other side of the “debate” highlight ignorant comments made by those who disagree with the AGW (or CAGW) position.
However, I also appreciate that Anthony must receive a significant number of letters such as this (and he has my sympathy for having to read them in the first place), and sometimes he needs to share them for the laugh. Can I suggest that the “humor” tag be added to this article?
