Well, it is that time of year again. You can nominate your favorite blogs for top honors in the 2012 Bloggies Awards. As many know, WUWT won last year in the Best Science Blog category. This year, Science and Technology blogs have been combined into a single category, so the competition will likely be stronger.
Here’s the rules:
- Only one nomination ballot and one finalist ballot may be submitted per person.
- E-mail addresses are required to vote. You must use your own address and confirm the verification e-mail.
- If you verify a second ballot, your first one will be replaced.
- In the nomination phase:
- URLs are required.
- Your ballot must contain at least three unique nominees.
- Weblogs may be nominated for multiple categories.
- Nominees must suit the category they are placed in.
- Weblogs may win a category over multiple years a maximum of three times.
The way it works is pretty simple.
1. You go to the main page http://2012.bloggi.es/
2. Scroll down for nominatiom forms
3. Fill out forms with names and URL’s of the blogs you are nominating (you need to nominate at least 3).
4. Confirm via an email sent to you (valid email address required)
For the Science and Technology category (presumably where WUWT would go) this is what the form looks like. You can nominate up to three blogs.
Note: in order for the nomination to go through, you have to nominate in three unique categories, so choose your favorite blogs in other areas too.
Nominations are open until January 15th, after that its handled internally for voting with 200 randomly selected judges.
nomination sent I hope you kick every butt there is to kick but in particular such anti-science sites as Real Climate, and Tamino’s.
It looks like you -have- to nominate in at least three categories.
No, I think you are suppose to nominate up to 3 different weblogs
I went to the nomination page and entered wattsupwiththat but got stumped with the URL part.
I’m not much of a geek so please help.

I’ve sent in a number of nominations. The combining of the science and technology categories is suspicious. It’s a good thing that I am not conspiracy minded.
Nominated WUWT, CA and The Air Vent. Good Luck, Anthony, Steve and Jeff!
Nominated WUWT and two others in different categories. No problems.
My nominations in. A top blog Anthony, wonderfully conceived, masterfully edited, meaningful topics with a very tolerant and orderly comment moderation. Kept me enthralled.
Still a long way to go before a real difference is made, we are still being bombarded with nonsense down here in OZ.

Co2 climate change is turning our sharks into sex maniacs who can’t stop themselves from screwing around with other species.
I hadn’t noticed a difference in sea temperature, except during La Nina’s, like last year, but then, I haven’t seen as much dead coral being washed up on the beach at 1770 either, so I’m probably going senile.
Nominated Real Climate in the “Most humourous” category.
Nomination sent … Good luck Anthony! … Hope you can do it again!
“…blogs have been combined into a single category, so the competition will likely be stronger.”
I am sure John Galt would be impressed.
Never give in!
nominated WUWT, Bishop Hill, and Climate Audit…. plus a few other types of blogs I enjoy following in other categories…… good luck to all!!!
The nomination process is just too difficult. Geeks will be overepresented. Oh well …
1. WUWT
2. Climate Audit
3. Tallbloke’s Talkshop
Good luck!!!
There is a big monetary reward – the stakes are high, $20.12.
You, Steve and Judy…
Funny that Tech and Science are mixed this year…the fix is in.
1- Watts Up With That
2- Bishop Hill
3- Climate Audit
I would vote for others as well, but not enough free time to read all…
Mark: Thank you!
Nominated WUWT, CA, and TAV
Anthony, when did this blog start? It says that ‘lifetime achievement blog awards’ are valid for blogs started before 1 Jan 2007 (5 years – life in the blogosphere must be short, if not nasty and brutish…). I’m sure WUWT qualifies…
Your ballot has been verified. Check back on Wednesday, February 1 to vote for the winners!

Anthony, I think you’ve got it wrong. My understanding of the rules is that you must nominate three seperate blogs. These blogs can however be in the same category, or seperate categories. As long as you have at least three seperate nominees, a nominee may be nominated in multiple categories so long as they are appropriate to that category. Most important of all is, don’t forget to vote in the last category- Weblog of the year

Looking for ‘a little help from your friends’, Mr Watts?!
None of the forms allow any kind of interaction, Has the site crashed?
Entered three time, yesterday and2X today, 1/3. Each time entered 3+ nominations, all entries rejected.
Sorry, something went wrong with your submission. Try returning to the start and making a new ballot. If it still doesn’t work, contact me with your nominations.
Had too email them in.
I voted for WUWT, I see the competition this year is against various commercial technology blogs. News feeds from search engines have the same problem, the technology category is riddled with opinions and news of what the latest and best smart phones are, I mean there is a huge difference between advertising the latest gadget on the market and publishing news of the latest technological achievement.
And science news feeds are flooded with environmental and politically slanted articles. most of which is worthless drivel from publishers who hire teams of brain dead media drones.
I some times wonder how much energy is wasted by today’s so called “copy n’ paste” journalists and the hypocritical anthropogenic global warming movement backed by biased sellout’s who have a cheek to call them selves scientists, with their super computers and government funded central heated offices with an unlimited electricity supply.
Yes, how scandalous to inform the readers of your blog about a survey about blogs.

Check the right hand nav bar for archives – WUWT began here in Nov. 2006.
As always I’ve learned lots reading this blog. Keep focused and keep the info coming. Some of the articles can be quite overwhelming at times but the comments help explain things I would have asked most often.
Good luck to wuwt, ca and tb.
Science and tech? Well they are related but only like weather and climate 🙂
Nomination for WUWT happily sent.
I nominated wuwt, tb and ntz.
Good luck Anthony, Roger and Pierre.

Thanks Ric. I missed the obvious place to look! Next, that “missing heat” must be around here somewhere…
WUWT duly nominated for best S+T blog, blog of the year and lifetime achievement award.
So, do they have a list or are we suppose to just know which blogs we like and then post the URL’s?
@ Mark – Surely you visit other popular blogs, if you like them nominate them
Given all the posts about the Google search engine I thought I’d try them with “best science blog” – WUWT was on the first page.
I nominated wuwt ,reference frame and bishop hill
for best S+T blog
Nominations made:
1. Watts up with that
2. Climate audit
3. The reference frame
Good luck, Anthony!

Funny thing is is that this blog is quite entertaining on top of being quite informative. It’s actually entertaining unlike the fatuous, smirk-filled Daily Show or Colbert Report that I’m guessing you find entertaining. Now go laugh yourself into a tizzy watching Jon & Steve mugging for the camera.
