I got this late, but this must be the most clueless thing I’ve ever seen, especially coming on the heels of the biggest ethics scandal ever in the history of Penn State. Maybe clueless doesn’t even describe it. I’m at a loss for representative adjectives.
An Ethical Critique of the Climate Science Disinformation Campaign
Dear Attendees of COP-17:
On Tuesday, November 29th, in a seminar organized by Penn State University and the University of Washington on the ethical dimensions of climate change join us to look at two issues.
One, an ethical analysis of the climate change disinformation campaign. We will examine whether this is a new kind of crime against humanity?
Second, we will look at the piratical significance for negotiations in Durban if climate change is understood to create human rights violations.

This is an article that summs it up!

Apologies if someone was quicker than me to note this error (I was busy reading and posting at Dot.Earth)-
Shouldn’t the conference title read-
An Ethical Critique of OUR Climate Science Disinformation Campaign
Clueless indeed!
Today is the 30th.
The seminar was yesterday on the 29th.
Did anyone go?

Excellent! It has come to my attention that a special organization has been called in to hunt down “The Climate”. This organization is:
THE CAUSE
It’s headed by special agent Mike Mann, and his group of highly trained climate commandos (Gavin, Jim, Kevin, Susan, and more!).
—
PS. Hey Kids! Look for the new “THE CAUSE” action figures and fantasy game this holiday season! Mike, Gavin, Jim and the gang hunt down agents of the the evil worldwide (oil funded) syndicate – S.K.E.P.T.I.X.
Included in the set is a signed copy of “An Inconvenient Truth” DVD, an “I am a Climate Commando” tee shirt, AND your own Climate GCM model, created for exclusively for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the WII. Don’t dream of being a climate commando – BE ONE!
(Available where ever fine toys are sold).
How can one lecture or argue about something no one understands? Doesn’t modern ethics depend on the situation?
Johnny Caspar: I’m talkin’ about friendship. I’m talkin’ about character. I’m talkin’ about – hell. Leo, I ain’t embarrassed to use the word – I’m talkin’ about ethics.

Next up on the Penn State lecture series:
“A Hands-on Approach to Male Adolescent Development”. A lecture by Joe Paterno.
“Basic Practices for Integrity in Statistics”. A tutorial in curve bending by Michael Mann.
“The Virtue of Monogamy”. Guess speakers to include Dominique Strauss-Kahn and William J. Clinton.
These people have no shame.
It’s Mike from Kansas.
We took 8 mm movie of people killed on the water by a Tornado 1971 Lake Cheney. 6 of us in 2 other boats lived. With the hockey stick since then, why aren’t there more tornado deaths in your area? We shot video because I was flying a new spinnaker.
My contribution to ethics?
Al (sex poodle) Gore visiting schools with his abstinence education tour.
Sounds like a gag from The Onion.
My name’s Chuck and I’m a “denier”.
Take me away and string me up for not having “faith” in the cause and crimes against humanity ….mea culpa etc etc.
You have to ask, what on earth is going on in these peoples heads when they’re obviously intent on criminalizing anyone who wont bow to their religion?
They’re as bad as any fundamentalist nutcases from any other faith!
It appears that having a difference of opinion is a hanging offense to the likes of these loons.
Its all becoming very worrying that supposedly rational and “scientific” people should start espousing views such as these.
I can only hope that Mr FOIA has such dynamite in the remainder of his zip file that he releases the password soon so the whole madness of the global warmers cause can be shattered, otherwise i fear for the future.
From Tom Nelson, …
Warmist Phil Jones on the problem with skeptics: “They mostly look at observation papers and ignore modelling ones, as they believe by default models are wrong!”

Reminds me of Trenberth from his October 2009, Climagegate 1 e-mail:
“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data … shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.” [1255352257.txt]
Very interesting comments on this subject. Everyone has their own ideas of what it should be… lol And yes James I read them all.

I absolutely support Charles and implore that the password be immediately released. Too much is at stake here including where ‘this kind of science’ has been used for other purposes.
Please release the password. Thank you.
“New crime against humanity”, huh?
How about discussing the elements of the “climate change science” schemes and practices that wallowed in old crimes against humanity, such as fiscal fraud and racketeering?

The inmates have taken over the asylum. I’m getting outta here!
Nope. As I’ve said, the inmates are not only running the asylum, they designed it, built it and staffed it, all to their specifications.
They didn’t HAVE to take it over…
BTW, I’ve taken the liberty to correct the earnest (associate) professor’s job title

Environmental Ethics, Science, andLaw,This could be fun — where’s it going to be held? The University of Washington is in Seattle, which last I checked was a long ways from Pennsylvania. I know there are a few AGW fanatics at the UW, though I also met an oceanographer there (he was running for the US Senate) who seemed rather skeptical.
For my take on AGW as a form of Buddhism, see my recent blog, “Global Warming: The Four Noble Half-Truths.”
The Pod Person hypothesis keeps looking better and better.
I strongly dislike the tone of the announcement above. The use of the term “crime against humanity” is scary. It sounds like they are wanting to bully reluctant politicians into compliance with “the cause”. What is the name of that axiom say that any discussion on a message board will eventually get around to a Hitler reference, if it goes on long enough? Well, when the subject of the post begins by saying that we’re all guilty of crimes against humanity, then isn’t the Hitler reference already there? That sounds like progress to me. Now we can skip right past all the lengthy discussion, and just go straight to the point of calling someone a Nazi because they disagree with us. Great.
I suggest you listen to the podcast and ask yourself the question: “Do I want to risk the rest of my life in prison if not hunted down and lynched by the generation that _does_ understand that climate change is real and that will understand the role I played in delaying action to stop it?”
I’m only trying to warn you. Don’t expect violent behaviour from me but do expect it from members of my generation. You and your gang are being closely observed and documented. My generation can read. They’ll know who’s responsible for their misery.
Or look up on YouTube what Bob Inglis said at one climate hearing (quoting someone esle): “Make sure you say that very publicly because I want our grandchildren to read what you said and what I said…”
So keep denying – publicly. Keep actively delaying climate action.
(Go ahead and expose my comment. I don’t see what’s wrong with it…)
Some European – see that is the problem. The false god of AGW does not have the courage of its convictions, so they resort to extortion, blackmail, violence and threats of violence to get their way.
Nice of you to threaten all those who do not agree with you.

I can just see the action figures now! We’ll just have to give them the other side – action figure toys of S.K.E.P.T.I.X. members who are made in the vein of the X-men, good people with super powers to fight the misguided members of The Cause.
Is Anthony Watts really Professor Charles Francis Xavier? Who gets to be the model for The Wolverine? Is Sallie Baliunas Storm, and Judith Curry Phoenix or ??
And who actually leads The Friends of Humanity? Michael Mann or Phil Jones? 😉

You seem to have far too much in common with the likes of the Unibomber, Osama Bin Laden, Anders Breivik, Jared Lee Loughner, and Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, etc.
All of whom believed they were threatening and killing for the greater good based on some pretzel logic cause or another that, in their minds, the majority of us just refused to see.
What will a decade’s silence in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case ultimately cost Pennsylvania’s largest public university, and by extension, its students and the taxpayers?
The question may never be answered because Penn State doesn’t have to tell.
An exemption to the state’s Right to Know Law that experts say is rare among comparable U.S. public universities already is being used by Penn State to deny access to records that would shed light on spending decisions the school is making amid the deepening crisis.
…
State Rep. Eugene DePasquale, D-York County, says withholding those records is wrong, especially as Penn State scrambles to rebuild trust. He plans on Monday to introduce legislation with 31 co-sponsors to extend the Right-to-Know Law to Penn State and three other state-related universities — the University of Pittsburgh, Temple and Lincoln — that are largely exempt from it.
Next, we will find out that Michael Mann will guest speak.
The Press Briefing (about 30 minutes including Q&A) is recorded here:
http://unfccc4.meta-fusion.com/kongresse/cop17/templ/play.php?id_kongresssession=4317&theme=unfccc
6 panelists, maybe 4 members of the press (hard to see). Connection between climate change and human rights is the main theme. Climategate 1 & 2 are mentioned as an attack against the scientists and not touching the fundament of the consensus that climate change is caused by humans…
if we are allowed a brief comic interlude, this quick video has more ethical content than anything the CAGWarmists have to say:
