Gore's ex "climate community organizer" bails on DOE

American Thinker: Rats leaving sinking ship: DOE loses a crony capitalist

With Republicans controlling the House of Representatives and able to subpoena officials, certain Obama administration officials are heading for the hills. The New York Times reports on the latest exodus of Obama appointees. This time the Department of Energy is losing acting Undersecretary of Energy Cathy Zoi:

A trio of top officials, including acting Undersecretary of Energy Cathy Zoi, are stepping down from the Department of Energy, Secretary Steven Chu announced in an agency memo set to be released today.

Zoi, who also serves as assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy (EERE), will be leaving the agency on March 10 to head to a private-sector post in California.

Who is Cathy Zoi and why would anyone be interested in her career?

She was the “ex-CEO of Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection and, while in government service maintained major investments in “green ” companies that benefited directly from her decisions”, reported Christopher Horner at Pajamas Media back in June, 2010 / . Among those investments, according to Horner are:

In Britain, their version of “Mr. Wizard” is being vilified by the global warming activists for his stance on AGW.

That the story by Horner never made serious headlines remains a mystery,
but one day they will have to take the stand.

By 10:00 they already had 25cm… and
“A snowfall warning remains in effect, calling for accumulations of five to 25 centimetres over the region. Winds will pick up later in the day and, while the temperature is supposed to drop to -3 C, the wind chill could make it feel as cold as -25C.”

President Obama goes from community organizer in Chicago to POTUS (Bill Ayres notwithstanding).
Obama appoints Rahm (no crisis should go to waste) Emanuel as his Chief of Staff.
…..
Obama names Bill Daley (kid brother of current Chicago mayor Richard Daley), as his new Chief of Staff (1/6/2011), after Rahm’s resignation.
Rahm Emanuel elected mayor of Chicago (2/22/2011).
Chicago politics at it’s best, not sure how it will play out on the World stage,
stay tuned.
One can HOPE our POTUS is not in over his head.
I’m afraid for us, Chicago (corrupt) politics may work in a city……..

Pendleton is expecting 4 inches of snow tonight. If this keeps up, the entire area will have to plant WINTER wheat instead of spring wheat. Interspersed with peas to fix nitrogen in the soil. But that is not news. The news is that Portland, the dog that wags the tail of Democrats, is shivering as well. What’s that I hear? A slow drip, drip, drip? That’s Democrats crying about their last vote.

When I look at wattsupwiththat.com at 8:30 PM EST, 2/23/2011, Al Gore is mentioned in 4 of the stories that are visible on the front page. What an unhealthy obsession! Look, I don’t like the guy either. Never have. I understand that dropping the G-bomb is good for riling up the “there’s no AGW” crowd, but maybe it would do the “skeptic” side some good to focus more on the scientific evidence and less on the personalities.
(And I’m not even talking about the comment sections. I’m just talking about the main bodies and headlines of the stories.)

Interestingly the Australian Chief Scientist Penny Sackett, a shameless AGW propagandist, has resigned half way through her 5 year term. The Sydney Morning Herald, a leftist rag, has tried to spin that this may have been due to being upset about “lack of government progress on climate change”.
I however hear the scrabbling of tiny paws, a fading squeak and a small furry splash…

Johnny, if you had read the article, you would have easily seen why Al ” I’m super-serial” Gore was mentioned. It was an article about corruption and conflicts of interest in the U.S. DoE. Of paticular interest was someone who used to be on the global warming/ wealth distribution bandwagon, yet somehow managed to secure herself a cushy government job which benefitted her and her partners.
The article should a number of links that clearly showed Zoi has a massive conflict of interest, and shouldn’t be anywhere near a position that entitles her to award lucrative government contracts. At the very least, it’s corrupt, at the top, it’s fraud, as she probably hid her connections.
If you still can’t read the evidence, I suggest you make a pen-pal of Bernie Maddof. I’m sure he could use the support.

It’s interesting that the department’s general counsel, Scott Blake Harris is leaving. This general counsel has made the case that shutting down work on the Yucca Mountain repository and withdrawing the License Application was legal. NRC judges with the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board already ruled against Harris that DOE can’t withdraw the license application. The lawsuit is going to U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit March 22. Appears that an acting general counsel will be overseeing this lawsuit.

I read Johnny D’s comment and instantly agreed with him – and was disappointed that he got shot down. I’ve long thought that if the experts on our side would only concentrate on writing a succinct and undeniable proof that CO2 is not to blame, we could all use it to disarm the warmists. We could write to our local and national papers with it, distribute it in pamphlets round the neighbourhood, and get the message out, to ridicule the politicians and warmist “scientists”. The public are already more than half-way there in my experience.
There is no proof that CO2 causes warming, so that’s a good start. Come on you bright sparks, get your heads round it, it shouldn’t be too difficult.
In parenthesis, just think of all the carbon capture, carbon emissions, low carbon this, low carbon that, rubbish that would have to be withdrawn from all the car adverts, news articles etc – and how there’d be no more talk of scrapping existing coal-fired power stations, no more need for windfarms, no more billions being spent on a fairy tale.
I suppose it’s just a dream.

JohnnyD,
By paying attention to all these seemingly peripheral matters, WUWT is documenting the multifaceted character of what some of us consider a major social hysteria (and interlaced with this, the use of ‘science’ for other ends). Viewed from this angle, the demand for a strict focus on “the science” is in fact disingenuous.
