Not sure exactly where he said that, as that headline isn’t in the news article as a quote, but if he did say that to the reporter, apparently Mr. Gore hasn’t seen this recent study from the University of California yet: Doomsday messages about global warming can backfire, new study shows
And apparently all the evidence Mr. Gore needs these days comes from the “weather is not climate, unless we say it is” line of reasoning.
From the Hindustan Times:
Nobel Peace Prize winner and champion climate campaigner Al Gore outlined the doom the world is awaiting because of climate change and expressed disappointment at world leaders failing to clinch a treaty to fight the new global terror. Terming the logjam in climate negotiations as a “startling paradox”, the man, whose documentary, The Inconvenient Truth won an Oscar said the year 2010 had seen worst of climate change.
“There was severe drought in Russia and extreme flooding in Pakistan. What more evidence is required for action,” he said at HT Leadership Summit.
His worst fear was that after failure of Copenhagen climate summit the talks where heading towards another “zombie” like the Doha process on World Trade Organisation negotiations. Gore’s solution for the problem was taking the issue back to the grassroots and creating a political storm to compel the leaders to react to climate change.
The former president blamed his own country United States – world second biggest carbon emitter — for failing to legislate a carbon law to curb emissions, resulting in failure of Copenhagen.
…
Al Gore had a lot of hope for India to take a lead in fighting climate change.
“India has a tremendous opportunity to lead the world in energy efficient solutions and in effecting a rapid shift to use of alternate energy like wind and solar,” Gore said.

If Al is pointing the finger at Russia’s drought and Pakistan’s floods, he is not a well read man when it comes to meteorology. It’s getting to the point that he compares unfavorably to the gal who said something about seeing Russia from her house. And at least she is willing to jab at herself for saying that!
Why are you picking a on Tina Fey?
R. Gates — check out the warm anomoly bubble in the Bering Sea. If you look at the time series of SST graphs back over a year you can trace it backwards.
It’s the remant of the El Ni~no.
Anyone know if there is a correlation of Bering freeze and El Ni~no?
That aside, do you agree with Vice President Gore that his two cited data points are a necessary and sufficient proof for immediate action? That is the meaning of what he said. If you support the CAGW point of view, doesn’t that make you cringe even a little?
You were really lucky americans…you are indebted to the eternity with Floridans who avoided His Holyness to become your president.. 🙂
Well now, that puts a whole new light on everything.
If climate change is the new global terror, does that make Al Gore the chief terrorist? And then there are all those offshoots of his movement, like Greenpeace or WWF …
I stumbled on this remarkable story from Italy which is not entirely of topic since the climate change terror is discussed here.
Italian authorities investigate airport ‘Nazi’ sign: report
Italian authorities are investigating the head of a small airport in northern Italy over a sign echoing a notorious Nazi slogan at the Auschwitz death camp, ANSA news agency reported on Sunday.
The head of Treviso airport is under investigation for erecting a sign several days ago at the entrance to the terminal building which said: “Flying sets you free”.
Prosecutors are examining whether this is an allusion to the iron sign above the entrance gate to Auschwitz which read: “Work sets you free”.
Prosecutor Antonio Fojadelli told ANSA that he was investigating a possible violation of racial hatred laws.
The sign was removed on Saturday morning, the report said.

I wish the authorities would have shown a similar “sensitivity and response” when Al Gore, James Hanson and the press started to call us “Climate Deniers” using this word together with words like Death Trains (for coal trains) and Camps (to lock up the climate deniers).
There is clearly an escalation in word and speech since the AGW proponents were confronted with their lack of scientific evidence for their claims.
Just exchanging opinion here.

…this clown hasn’t changed since his dreary tome “Earth In the Balance.” After reading the first chapter, I gladly gave it away.
That was mean, or do you dislike that person?
———
REPLY: Both. I disliked the book “Earth In The Balance” intensely, as it was the signal event to the “catastrophic anthropogenic global warming” (CAGW) craze which is now rapidly unwinding upon increased scientific and statistical evaluation & scrutiny. This nonsense has cost the world’s citizens many millions of dollars that could have gone to combatting proven public health problems instead of this CAGW will o’ the wisp.
I also do not care for Al Gore, as I think he’s a pompous windbag who does not practice what he preaches. Regarding the vote count in 2000, it was settled by the Supreme Court, so that is history, period. “Coulda/shoulda” doesn’t matter much in Presidential politics I’m afraid.
Climate change wouldn’t be the new terror if Al Gore wasn’t trying to make it so. Climate’s changes aren’t terrifying, being held ransom for them is.
A lot more than the weather Mr. Bore.

The intensity of “global warming” propaganda is a pretty good gauge of the “social temperature”. When the masses are discontented the bosses try to scare the hell out of them.

I would suppose as Arctic Sea ice and global sea ice extent remain near record lows for this date that the sceptics have nothing better to do than bash Al Gore. When the science doesn’t support your sceptical viewpoint…turn to politics!
==================
As far as politics go, Al Gore is/and has been in the wilderness for a long time.
The MSM don’t even report his escapades anymore.
And as Global Sea Ice Area is near the running average (since 1979), we take our pleasures where we can.
Skeptics have more fun!
Cold, cold, nothing but cold:

It´s over baby!
Algoresaurus rex is playing a very dirty game:
He says that Cliamte change is the new global terror.
Liacmte change is caused by CO2
mliacte-changing CO2 is caused by oil, coal and gas.
Hence we, the skeptics are all terrorists, we will be sent to Guantanamo, water boarded, accused, found guilty and imprsoned all due to metalic change.
Hey Osama bin Laden, you can come out of hiding now, its ok, its all over for you. You’re free to go now, all because of milcate change.
mtelcia change is now so terrible that the …………….
“Wow! Al Gore is “the former president”? How scary is that?!!!”
Just more evidence that these guys are living in an alternate reality.

Its just plain fun to bash Al Gore.
He and all of you other warmists make it rather easy to do. Thanks for that.

“the year 2010 had seen worst of climate change.”
=====
Yeah! Al Gore says the worst of climate change is nearly behind us – and we’re still alive!
But I’m still confused about what is “climate” and what is “weather”. When the rain that would normally fall in Russia falls in Pakistan instead during the summer of 2010, it is due to climate. But when the number of typhoons is the lowest on record in 2010, it is due to weather. Are such things decided by science, by concensus, or by the pronouncements of celebrities?
“There was severe drought in Russia and extreme flooding in Pakistan. What more evidence is required for action”
The Netherlands heeded, and they are taking action: planning a new nuclear powerplant of 2500 MW.
OH NO -It’s worse than we thought (although strangely not a mention of global temperatures)

And of course joe public will believe him. The problem is the man in the street is basically too lazy and ignorant to ever look at the facts.

Three years ago I would agree with you whole heartedly based on personal experience. Today Joe Sixpack is waking up.
In the last year I have had many many incredible conversations with various people about current bills in Congress, Food Safety, the bank bailouts/Federal Reserve and Global Warming. For example, within the last 24 hrs I was in a Western Wear store and had an eye opening conversation with the owner and the group of customers that wandered up to hear and join the discussion about the new laws and bills effecting small businesses. Some of the people may not have graduated from high school but they knew a lot about the current bills effecting food, energy and small business. What a pleasant surprise!
“India”…”Rapid shift” HOoohoaha… woow, that’s a good one! Got another one Al Baby?
Good old Al and his buddy Clinton gave the people of India Monsanto “GMO” seed and the World Trade Organization. Since then there have been 200,000 farmer suicides in India. I do not think the people of India are going to get taken in by this snake oil salesman a second time.
Physicist Vandana Shiva writes about the cause of farmer suicides here
“..expressed disappointment at world leaders failing to clinch treaty..”
I’m sure world leaders express as much disappointment in Al’s hubris and hypocrisy.
Philip Foster says: “‘Climate change in the new global terror’ Looks like a typo to me: ‘error’, surely?”
Thanks. That made me laugh.
the new global terror
Takes on to know one, hey Al baby.
“The former president blamed his own country ….”
They mean vice-president. But isn’t this treason?
Flooding in Pakistan is nothing new — the 3rd millenium BC Indus River city of Mohenjo-daro is thought to have been destroyed by flooding 7 times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohenjo-daro
Caused by methane emissions from the newly domesticated oxen? 😉
