Not sure exactly where he said that, as that headline isn’t in the news article as a quote, but if he did say that to the reporter, apparently Mr. Gore hasn’t seen this recent study from the University of California yet: Doomsday messages about global warming can backfire, new study shows
And apparently all the evidence Mr. Gore needs these days comes from the “weather is not climate, unless we say it is” line of reasoning.
From the Hindustan Times:
Nobel Peace Prize winner and champion climate campaigner Al Gore outlined the doom the world is awaiting because of climate change and expressed disappointment at world leaders failing to clinch a treaty to fight the new global terror. Terming the logjam in climate negotiations as a “startling paradox”, the man, whose documentary, The Inconvenient Truth won an Oscar said the year 2010 had seen worst of climate change.
“There was severe drought in Russia and extreme flooding in Pakistan. What more evidence is required for action,” he said at HT Leadership Summit.
His worst fear was that after failure of Copenhagen climate summit the talks where heading towards another “zombie” like the Doha process on World Trade Organisation negotiations. Gore’s solution for the problem was taking the issue back to the grassroots and creating a political storm to compel the leaders to react to climate change.
The former president blamed his own country United States – world second biggest carbon emitter — for failing to legislate a carbon law to curb emissions, resulting in failure of Copenhagen.
…
Al Gore had a lot of hope for India to take a lead in fighting climate change.
“India has a tremendous opportunity to lead the world in energy efficient solutions and in effecting a rapid shift to use of alternate energy like wind and solar,” Gore said.

The greatest terror in global climate are the people like Al Gore who demand their private feeding trough disguised as “Saving the Planet”, else they will break arms & legs for those refusing thier ‘protection’.
If we are not careful Europe and the US will be subjugated to GW protocols, but the rest of the World, especially China, India, Russia will be let off the hook. Why, because no one is going to make them do what they dont want to do. Did you ever contemplate why Al Gore doesnt go to China, India, Iran, Russia to sell his snake oil, because he would be thrown in prison, pelted with tomatoe’s, etc. Basically the same reason NOW doesnt go to the middle east to champion womens rights. But in America we are civilized so we let them get away with all kinds of crap.
Its time to root out these bastards and start throwing them in prison. All kinds of fraud is being committed behind the scenes, I submit. Beyond that many of these people could be considered traitors for conspiracy to subourne the Constitution and government of the United States.
““There was severe drought in Russia and extreme flooding in Pakistan. What more evidence is required for action,”
Indeed. Time for water conservation measures in Russia and better management of flood plains in Pakistan where they also might consider encouraging people to build their homes on higher ground. That should about do it.
“There was severe drought in Russia and extreme flooding in Pakistan. What more evidence is required for action,” he said at HT Leadership Summit.

The Russian famine of 1601–1603 was Russia’s worst famine in terms of proportional effect on the population, killing perhaps two million people

Droughts and famines in Russia and the USSR tended to occur on a fairly regular basis, with famine occurring every 10–13 years and droughts every 5–7 years.

Gore has picked the wrong climate change crisis. The planet is going to cool, not warm. Warming is benign, cooling is not.
In the past, the planet cooled when there was an interruption to the solar magnetic cycle. Solar cycle 24 appears to be a specific cyclic disturbance that has occurred in the past. There the paleo climatic record was a cycle of warming and cooling that correlates with cosmogenic isotopes changes. Gerald Bond has able to track 30 of the cycles which have a periodicity of 1470 years through the Holocene interglacial and into the Wisconsin glacial period.
http://www.essc.psu.edu/essc_web/seminars/spring2006/Mar1/Bond%20et%20al%202001.pdf
The amount of cosmogenic isotopes that is deposited on the ice sheets increases when the solar magnetic cycle is low, as pieces of the solar magnetic flux are carried by the solar wind out into the solar system to that form what is called the solar heliosphere deflect Galactic Cosmic Rays (high energy protons and ions). The high velocity GCR create isotopes (cosmogenic) in the earth’s atmosphere. The GCR when they strike atoms in the atmosphere creates the sub atomic particle MUON (Heavy electron). The MUONs travel through the atmosphere creating cloud forming ions. It is the increase in planetary cloud caused by the increase in GCR that causes the cooling.
The number of and the intensity of GCR also increase and decreases depending on the position of the solar system in the galaxy. There is a 5 to 7 times increase in GCR when the solar system passes through the Milky Way’s plane where stars are formed. The ice house periods on the earth correlate with the long term periods (millions of years) at which time the solar system passed through the galactic plane.

Celestial driver of Phanerozoic climate?
“We find that at least 66% of the variance in the paleotemperature trend could be attributed to CRF (my comment: cosmic ray flux is another name for GCR) variations
likely due to solar system passages through the spiral arms of the galaxy. Assuming that the entire residual variance in temperature is due solely to the CO2 greenhouse effect, we propose a tentative upper limit to the long-term “equilibrium” warming effect of CO2, one which is potentially lower than that based on general
circulation models.”
The warming at the end of the 20th century correlates with a planet wide reduction in planetary cloud cover which was observed with satellites. The reduction in planetary cloud cover at the end of the 20th century was caused by a second mechanism (high GCR that creates ions is the first mechanism) were by solar wind bursts removes ions from the earth’s atmosphere by creating a space charge differential in the ionosphere. (Tinsley called the second mechanism “electroscavenging”. There was an increase in solar wind bursts that occurred at during solar cycle 22 and 23.)

“Globally, $20 trillion/year:”
Fully 1/3 of the entire GDP of the whole planet !
Personally, I’m terrified that Al Gore will come to town, blot out the sun with his enormous bulk, and start a new ice age.
Why is it we cant get rid of these A-holes like Gore….they are like weeds they keep coming back and coming back no matter how much research contradicts their pseudoscience.
Well one reason they keep coming back is that their friends have already banned paraquat!
But,seriously if Gore believes the junk he spouts then why the h**l did he buy a mansion on the seafront?
Of course since the collapse of CCX, he’s lost a lot of money, and the prospect of much more in the future, so perhaps he needs whatever he can scrape up!
How about starting a fund for the poor chap? He needs a lot of money to keep his mansion running. At least it might stop him making a complete fur lined gold plated idiot of himself.
On reflection, it probably wouldn’t!
“Climate change is the new global terror, says Al Gore”
I alway felt terrorized by that guy. Good that he finally admits it.
As others point out Al Gore is correct, he is by his own words and definition a terrorist if the art of spreading terror of weather is an act of terroism. I agree with Big AL seize him and his kind lock them up (in a soon to warm place in the high arctic) and strip them of the proceeds of the crime. Of course if we had not allowed such nitwits to rise to positions of power we would simply by laughing at them right now. Oh well we let our guard down and the useless and clueless moved in to help us, just another natural human cycle. There is something about a long delayed house cleaning when you ruthlessly throw out the junk, that springs to mind.USA started in Nov election and set an example for rest of us once again.
“There was severe drought in Russia and extreme flooding in Pakistan. What more evidence is required for action,”
Translation: “I’m credulous.”
He is saying we need to fundamentally transform the world economy for one drought and one flood. Extreme weather happens. Always has, always will. My paternal grandfather lost the family farm in the dustbowl. What action would that have called for in the former Vice President’s thinking?
‘New global terror..’..?
That’ll be Al Gore, then…
I believe Algore sold his carbon investments before the crash.
He also doesn’t believe in sea level rise, having bought ocean front property in San Francisco recently.
@cedarhill
“For a guy that saw billions slip through his fingers when the Chicago carbon trading went belly up, there’s simply nothing to do but go back and try again. Even today, it’s still a good gig and he has all those electric bills to pay at the mansion, fuel to buy for the yacht and those jet trips to make.”
At least he will get good help from Norway. ;(
Norwegian government are now implementing forced carbon credits on all airline travels.
So this will mean every norwegian who wants to fly will be forced to support this crazyness.
They also have planned a bunch of other co2 taxes like for gas that will be implemented over new year..

AGW is the new global terror and Al Gore is the new Al Qaeda. Sounds good except that I doubt that Osama bin Laden will like it because Osama bin Laden considers himself to be the boss of the global climate hysteria, too.”>
I just left your site; how buggy is my computer now? How serious are you about STUXNET?
Casually hacking into the computers of one of the leading science publications recently, I came up with the following snippet of info on Al, which you might find of interest.

This press release is embargoed until sometime in the near future.
Pachauri and Gore finally accept that climate change was a spoof
In a press release issued jointly by Mr Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the International Panel on Climate Change, and Mr Al Gore, both men have finally agreed that the so-called science on global warming was nothing more than a spoof created by a group of unethical scientists, who, together with their many associates, put out false scientific information in order to secure huge financial gain from an unsuspecting public. When interviewed on the subject both gentlemen expressed their great sadness at these findings since such an inconvenient truth will have profound detrimental effect on their multi billion dollar businesses which they have created on the back of climate change. Mr Gore, with tears in his eyes, said he is planning to sue the scientists involved.
When asked about the Nobel Prizes that had been awarded for blindly accepting the bogus information issued by the discredited scientists, both men have agreed to return the awards in anticipation of the Nobel Prize committee withdrawing them. The Nobel Prize committee chairman said that if the awards are not returned by the two gentlemen then they would be automatically cancelled by the committee. This would be the first time in the history of the Nobel Prize that such an action was found to be necessary. The embarrassed chairman said that the committee would never again offer a prize based on unproven forecasting of major changes to the environment or any other aspect of life in the world in which we live, we have made a huge error of judgement in this case even though our computer model gave us what we thought to be the correct result. We have now discontinued computer modelling to find winners, in favour of traditional methods. Millions of copies of Mr. Gore’s film – An Inconvenient Truth – which has been a huge source of income for Mr. Gore – are now being destroyed around the world, although it is understood that some copies are being retained by science museums to be stored in their ‘Science Fiction’ archives.
It is anticipated that The Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr Ban Ki-moon, who has put his weight behind the whole of the global warming fiasco, will resign his post in the next few days stating that as he has directed the UN into launching so many extremely costly and wasteful programmes across the world in the name of global warming, his credibility as the leader of this now discredited world organisation has been totally undermined.
When asked to comment, a polar bear in the Arctic said “We’ve never been in support of this global warming mularky. At last the world accepts what we have always accepted which is that the Arctic is the same as it always was – and always will be – bloody cold. We had a bit of a laugh at Al Gore’s film when it came out. He should spend his time fishing in his ice hole – so long as it’s in the Antarctic”
Ends
Gore, as a seasoned politician, is a master of psychological manipulation. The techniques have universal application.
Play on fear
Choose a threat so powerful and widespread the individual feels helplessness
Suppress information to hinder the individual from assessing the threat
Present yourself as the savior
An uninformed and unqestioning person is fertile ground for demagoguery.
What’s this STUXNET I keep hearing about?
I know Al Gore has a fair amount of power and connections. Therefore I understand the need to give mention to his utterances.
Is it an idea to minimize the reporting on Al Gore, though? The man is a buffoon. His activity is nothing but a distraction from serious matters.
Juraj
hahahah you nailed it!
I would suppose as Arctic Sea ice and global sea ice extent remain near record lows for this date that the sceptics have nothing better to do than bash Al Gore. When the science doesn’t support your sceptical viewpoint…turn to politics!
Dear Ken, you write: “I just left your site; how buggy is my computer now? How serious are you about STUXNET?”
Well, I may assure you that you can’t catch Stuxnet from my website, or any similar website, for that matter, and neither can I. 😉 It’s about as likely as catching global warming. If you were asking something else about your computer, then please accept apologies but I didn’t understand what you wanted to know about your computer.
John, Palin actually said, “They’re our next door neighbors. And you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska” when responding to a question about her foreign policy experience. It portrays a politician not yet at a moment’s notice clear regarding her own core knowledge about the world in which she seeks to be a major player. If I were her, I would be taking a grand world tour, visiting with as many heads of state as she can get on the abundant dimes she is making, in order to get clear. Given that caution, I consider her to be several leagues ahead of our once Vice President.
Re Alex the skeptic, November 21, 2010 at 5:06 am
Don’t forget the opportunity to introduce innovative new tarriffs. Standard tariff for assured supply becomes a premium tariff for increased profits. New ‘economy’ tariff is for interruptable supply, at the same or higher prices as before to cover the £8bn it’ll cost to fit ‘smart’ meters in the UK and more for grid upgrades to cope with grid instability. So in usual ‘competitive markets’ for power, we end up paying more, for less. It would be better to make priority customers for smart shutdown the FITS customers, after all, they can generate their own electricity can’t they?
As for Gore, his VC fund clients must be getting nervous. He should also be getting nervous as his frequent calls for increased activism and direct action sound dangerously close to inciting terrorism. In the UK, that includes anything that harms the economy, or national infrastructure.
