Climate craziness of the week

“Art” is in the eye of the beholder. Global warming “art” is often lodged in another place in the body.

From AOL News:, this artistic project is described as: “…off London’s Millennium Bridge. Taiwanese artist Vincent Huang used two glass penguins and a stuffed toy polar bear for the eye-catching project, which aims to raise awareness over climate change.”

Never mind that polar bears and penguins don’t share the same icecap, it’s “art”.

Read the story behind this at AOL News.

Also, the idea of suicidal animals to raise awareness on global warming is not new, it was used last year in this video below from an outfit called Quercus in Portugal. The “artistic rendition” above is simply a low budget copycat.

It doesnt make sense to pity polar bears AND penguins. They tell us polar bears need MORE ice (to avoid drowning!) and penguins need LESS ice as the young one have to waddle many hazardous miles to reach the ocean after they hatch (as they have to be hatched on land.) So, what is good for polar bears is bad for penguins and vice versa.

The agw crowd want reduction of the human population… why don’t they emulate the animals in the commercial?

Someone should go there and hang a copy of the
IPCC report off the bridge.

So this is how ecologists think polar bears and penguins should be treated?

In the “Hey, that could burn your face off” category.

These people are getting pathetically desperate.
I can’t watch anymore….No, no I have to go.

Hmm, God’s banker was murdered as a high-finance message! Maybe the penguins and the polar bears have been messing with high finance and someone is sending a warning?? You know like horse’s heads in the bed?

I have a better idea, 3 scientists dangling off ropes, Newton, Galileo and Einstein. Each with a toppled chair under their dangling feet labelled IPCC.
Anyone good at drawing toons?

Art?
Thoughtless arguments are turned iconic and allegoric. Using the power of images works, it is the misused language of the soul. Images catch compassion. That’s why the Copenhagen Conference got started with the promotional film „Please Help!“.
“The art a person admires allows us to see the person’s essential values and shows his/her view of life and reality.” (John, 00:48:41) How true. Look at this video showing how to treat “climate change deniers”: SNOWMAGEDDON ETIQUETTE – at work

Shockingly brutalized and brutalizing images reveal a view of life and tell about the psychic atmosphere of their provenance.

For all our Swedish readers, Dagens Nyheter is reporting that due to a breakthrough in fusion research in the U.S., we may have controlled fusion in two years.

OK let’s stop global warming. How? Declare war on China and India to stop them increasing their CO2 emissions far more than any western country can reduce them? Even if all western countries decided to shut down all their industries thus destroying all businesses and creating the mother of all depression, the climate will not be altered much. Look the only “let’s play it safe” solution is to switch to nuclear energy immediately, which by the way China and India are doing on a massive scale that would make the US look like a third world country. Of course, the AGW is a hoax and a fraud so all this doesn’t matter anyway.

Such far-out photos and videos are signs of desperation typical of someone losing the debate. They are also offensive and I’m almost sure in some western countries such material would be cause for criminal action by way of a court order to be placed on the makers, with the expectation of being heavily fined, if not put behind bars.

JimB, it’s a fact that the Kangaroo population in Australia has been steadily increasing over the past 25 years. This is in spite of the commercial harvest throughout that period and the recent ‘worst drought in history’! Yes, we and others around the world now eat Kangaroo meat, and it’s becoming more popular.

Just like there can’t be true science with a political message there can’t be true art too.

February 23, 2010 2:34 am

Somebody go on the bridge and cut the ropes. Set them free! after all, polar bears and penguins are both very good swimmers.

By giving this crap blog space you are playing into Huang’s hands – ignore it and he might just get fed up and go away…

February 23, 2010 2:56 am

Presumably since catastrophic global warming isn’t a government sponsored fraud the government would be equally happy to see me expressing my artistic opinions by hanging various politicians in effigy from public buildings for some genuine actions.
OPr not as the case may be.

This image is highly questionable and should be investigated. It seesms NH ice was always ABOVE anomaly until recently?

OTT, once more, by the eco-fantasists………………….but this is GOOD because it simply doesn’t work as either art or a scare.
What ordinary people glean from such efforts is that the protagonists or artists are simply NUTTERS.
Lets have more, not less, of such incompetent attempts to brainwash the masses.

Suicidal animals? I don’t think so.
If evolution teaches us anything, it’s that life not only goes on, but is re-invigorated by stress. Every one of the great extinction events cleared the way from an explosion of new species.
Animals go on an on. It’s only stupid humans that give up.

February 23, 2010 3:30 am

Can’t the police actually catch the environmentalist and prove that it was him who has hanged the innocent animals? It’s like one of the stories in South Park where the green activist planned to kill one of those children heroes to prove that second-hand smoking was harmful, or something like that.
They’re talking about dying animals and people but so far it has only been them who has been killing them – via DDT bans and other things.

A year ago they were the last, best hope of the world, a shining band of brothers (and sisters) who were saving the planet and taming the excesses of self-destructive capitalist greed. The Force was with them and the world lay at their feet. They were going to be greeted as liberators by a grateful world desperate to be saved.

I think Al Gore failed the climate change movement and that his negligence and blindness has done it irreparable harm. If the skeptics are right and the world isn’t warming — or if natural causes are responsible for climate change – it doesn’t matter much. But if Al Gore and the climate change people are even half right about what is happening to our world, the cost of Mr. Gore’s failures are incalculably great. He was the one world leader who had the standing inside the climate change movement to lead it onto a more sustainable path and, as far as we can tell from the facts now before us, he didn’t really try.

Too funny .. liberators

The penguins are made of glass. Wouldn’t want to be under one of those if it falls off onto a passing boat. Could kill someone.
