This is for British citizens and expats only. Since George Monbiot called for Dr. Jones to resign, and for the data to be reanalysed, perhaps some UK readers can persuade him to sign.
Here are the details:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to suspend the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia from preparation of any Government Climate Statistics until the various allegations have been fully investigated by an independent body.
Deadline to sign up by: 24 February 2010
The details of the petition:
The Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia is a “leading centre” for the investigation of “manmade global warming” and government policy relies on the integrity of these statistics. Several claims have been made: that data was “cherry picked” to make the 20th century temperature rise look exceptional in historical terms; emails suggest the unit has colluded in “tricks” to “hide the decline” in a high profile scientific journal, and this unit has colluded in active, secret and highly political campaigning through the website “realclimate”.
The preparation of climate statistics require many judgements: stations move & sites become surrounded by urban sprawl (urban heating) & a judgement must be made of the size of the offset to apply to the global temperature record. The University accepts most emails are genuine so it appears the Unit has been acting in a highly partisan way incompatible with that of a neutral body preparing and interpreting government data. We call on the PM to suspend all further use of the climate research unit until all pertinent allegations have been investigated and any action (if any) has been taken.
If you are a UK citizen, expat, or resident, here is where you can add your name to the petition.

Why has the following referenced e-mail been considerably edited since its first appearance? What is going on?
http://www.eastangliaemails.com/emails.php?eid=544&filename=1120593115.txt
Originally it contained the text from our Prof. Phil Jones dated July 5, 2005:
“As you know, I’m not political. If anything, I would like to see the climate change happen, so the science could be proved right, regardless of the consequences.”

Our Phil makes the implicit admission that there is no proof for AGW! How could he say such a thing!

To The Men Of England
Men of England, wherefore plough
For the lords who lay ye low?
Wherefore weave with toil and care
The rich robes your tyrants wear?
Wherefore feed and clothe and save,
From the cradle to the grave,
Those ungrateful drones who would
Drain your sweat — nay, drink your blood?
Wherefore, Bees of England, forge
Many a weapon, chain, and scourge,
That these stingless drones may spoil
The forced produce of your toil?
Have ye leisure, comfort, calm,
Shelter, food, love’s gentle balm?
Or what is it ye buy so dear
With your pain and with your fear?
The seed ye sow another reaps;
The wealth ye find another keeps;
The robes ye weave another wears;
The arms ye forge another bears.
Sow seed, — but let no tyrant reap;
Find wealth, — let no imposter heap;
Weave robes, — let not the idle wear;
Forge arms, in your defence to bear.
Shrink to your cellars, holes, and cells;
In halls ye deck another dwells.
Why shake the chains ye wrought? Ye see
The steel ye tempered glance on ye.
With plough and spade and hoe and loom,
Trace your grave, and build your tomb,
And weave your winding-sheet, till fair
England be your sepulchre!

Looks like the message was cut after a special character in the word “naive”. I quess it might be database related error on that site.
Expose the code and bust the Anti-Trust Climate Team

Signed – no. 1042. Keep up the good work with this site. I too, though, am sceptical about the benefit of signing No 10 petitions. I signed the one asking our illustrious, hardworking PM to resign and a couple of months later received that sanctimonious email saying how hard he was working to “save” our country, completely ignoring the petition.
I am more concerned with the removal of planning controls in England so that wind farm developers can erect the blasted things quicker, desicrate our countryside and receive massive subsidies and profits while contributing virtually nothing to the security of our energy supplies, and all in the name of green energy and helping reduce CO2 emissions. What a joke.
Done
Ed Begley – WOW!
Talk about trying to silence dissent.
With friends like that who needs enemies….
I think signing these petitions gives them a nice database of people who disagree with them. They are never going to change policy as a result of any petition, why tell them who you are?
Well, at least some Canadian media seems to have noticed.

Well, the UK Government just caved into a petition signed by about 500 people. Would you believe it? No, but it’s true:

But then, what would else you expect from Gordon and his sorry crew.
As a UK citizen I’ve signed
I have signed, although like other Brits have said, it is extremely likely that Brown will complete ignore it. As he has done everything else.
That ‘Hide the Decline’ video is brilliant. Can people more computer savvy than me please ensure it gets round the world like the Dan Hannan slagging Brown off did.
I have never heard of Ed Begley. Who is this nutter?

This sort of attitude will just help the Socialist maintain power. You Brits need to stand up and be heard. Vote for more free market candidates. Get rid of the rascals!!

It seems to be getting truncated – look at the last line
The original “release” is as you say
Been to the “Number 10” website. Has been showing only 261 signatories since yesterday. Have they deliberately stopped the count??
I have signed but I doubt it will do anything.
uk.gov thought this petition thingy was a good idea until they realised it was a nice focal point for people’s anger at their own policies and failures.
One uk.gov minister called the guy who invented the petitions site a “prat” when it effectively killed off road pricing.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1401042.ece
“THE Downing Street aide branded a “prat” by a minister for encouraging the public to start official online petitions is Benjamin Wegg-Prosser, a former adviser to Peter Mandelson. “

Signed. Maybe it’s pointless, but who can really tell ahead of time?
Just realised: I’m a native of East Anglia and a resident of NZ.
Double shame.
There is something a bit odd about this petition – the numbers update irregularly and the total signatures – 2000 (at the time of writing – 23:30 GMT 29/11) – is different from the number in the list of petitions 2061. And it wasn’t updating properly on its first day of operation.
Also it has taken 3 days (assuming he uses GMT) to go from Ric Werme’s 1657 to 2061 (an additional 400 odd) when if the rate had remained the same it would have gone up by 1800. Probably this is ok – these petitions can lose steam, but…

I have just signed the ptition but expect it will be treated in the same way that the one I signed last year asking Gorden Brown to resign was.(Nearly half a million signed and we were given some flannel “The Prime Misister doesn’t agree and is working hard ect”)
He thinks I am a square earth er because I am sceptical and I on the other hand just think he is incompitent.
as of now 2518 signatures.
