Goreathon – now in a living color poster

WUWT readers likely remember the 24 hours of the Goreathon on WUWT, one of our most viewed days ever. Josh of CartoonsbyJosh.com put in a herculean effort to come up with 24 frames of artwork spoofing the Gore-fest. You can see the series here:

The Gore-a-thon in comics

Now Josh has colorized it all into a new poster, see below:

the possibility exists to put this into a hi-res poster format as well as making other merchandise (like a mug set) – please advise of your interest.

Post cards as a greeting card.
Send them to all your friends on Earth Day.
Send another set around Memorial Day prior to the Rio COP-18.
And finally send another set to everone you can think of in mid October 2012 to be received prior to the US. Election.
The gift that keeps on giving.

December 8, 2011 1:53 pm

Josh, really nice.
I was just thinking, could you do a 12-days-of-Christmas cartoon about Durban to include, of course 10 Lord Moncktons Leaping…
First thoughts: 12 supporters drumming, 11 reporters piping, 10 Lord Moncktons leaping, 9 lazy dunces, 8 made grants for milking, 7 (), 6 geese are lying, 5 gold rings (Olympic-UN style), 4 cooling graphs, 3 (), 2 Climategates, and ()

Someone should send a copy to Sir David Attenborough. A great idea.

I just posted this at Lucia’s Blackboard.
UAH seems late, but RSS has been out for a couple of days.
November anomaly at 0.033.

I’m really tempted by the idea of 24 different mugs. I mean, what a collection. This would be an investment too, like Penny Blacks. “What did you do, Grandad, when the world was in trouble… global warming… seas rising… polar bears dying…” “Me? I blogged. That’s how all those problems were dealt with… lies the lot of them… and the Press were gagged too, here’s my evidence, see, first edition Josh-the-climategate-mugger”

Looks good, Have any news papers published it yet?
I think it would sell a newspaper or two, it’s all about demographics, I heard that somewhere. 🙂

From a comment at http://www.bishop-hill.net/blog/2011/12/8/windy-days.html .
Poland are switching off solar/wind electricity imports from germany because its unrelability/variability is overwhelming their control systems http://motls.blogspot.com/2011/12/poland-plans-to-ban-german-solar-and.html

I’m a bit torn on this. The Goreathon sequence is definitely some of Josh’s best work and merits wide distribution, but it seems that Algore’s fiasco has already drifted into well deserved obscurity and it probably would be best if it stayed there. But WTH, there’s likely a significant market available just among frequent visitors here, so you can make a few bucks while spreading some needed holiday cheer. I say go for it.

My apologies for redirecting this from Josh’s interests, but one coffee mug I would buy for myself and several friends would be one with the Morlet wavelet transform of sunspot numbers wrapped around it.
I looked briefly into to doing it a few years ago, but didn’t have time or a refitted image to use. See Basil’s image at http://wattsupwiththat.com/2008/09/22/new-cycle-24-sunspot/

Lucy, lovely ideas! How about 12 mugs and two per mug?
I like the 12 days of Christmas too but I am not sure I could do anything in time. Maybe next year?

I like the mugs but perhaps a set of 12 (conventional) with two cartoons per mug.
Now if Elmer of http://minnesotansforglobalwarming.com/m4gw/ and Josh could get together for the 12 days of global warming and make a video….

Gail and Josh – Yes. Lovely.

Definitely.
