What happens when children grow up believing the world is ending?
In this thought-provoking presentation to Heartland’s 16th International Conference on Climate Change, Anika Sweetland, a former climate believer describes how years of climate messaging leave her fearful, anxious, and convinced that humanity is headed toward disaster.

She argues that schools, universities, media outlets, and political institutions are teaching certainty where there should be debate and fear where there should be curiosity.

Her message is simple: science is supposed to encourage questions, not shut them down.

I had family who were diverse political radicals, with my fathers cousins Birchers, and some of my mother’s family being
Socialist Labor Party. Being preached at from an early age diverse radicalism gave me the tools to recognize really bad arguments.
The Greens came across as True Believers as much as the Birchers.

Very nice. Our government, our schools and our media have failed us. It is up to us to inform the tax payer and the rate payer how much they have been lied to and cheated.
