Gaslighting is defined as manipulating someone so as to make them question their own reality:
German police have denied being “extras for Greta Thunberg” after false claims that her detainment at a protest in western Germany was staged.
A viral post falsely claimed the climate activist being held by police was “all set up for the cameras”.
Ms Thunberg and other activists were seeking to stop the abandoned village of Lützerath from being demolished for the expansion of a coal mine.
The video of her being removed by police has gained millions of views.
“We would never give ourselves to make such recordings,” a spokesperson for local police told the BBC, denying allegations that Ms Thunberg’s detainment was fake.
But it is important that the police enable reporting and guarantee the protection of media workers, they added.
The viral video shows the climate campaigner flanked by police officers on either side.
Meanwhile a few photographers can be seen snapping photos and moving around her, as Ms Thunberg smiles.
Several other police officers who were also standing nearby appear to be waiting with her before walking her away from the scene.
Some online have jumped onto these moments of officers and Ms Thunberg waiting around, to falsely claim that it is part of a staged photo opportunity.
However the interior ministry of the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia told the BBC that the police officers and Ms Thunberg were waiting for logistical reasons.

There is much about this that got un/mis reported. The coal mine is metallurgical coal, not steam coal. The villagers agreed to be bought out and moved years ago. It was empty until occupied by protesters. The Greta thing was a staged photo op, which the BBC got caught red handed misrepresenting by selective editing.

It works best to understand the four models of governance in Europe:

Seems to me England has been adopting the German or Russian model lately.

There are lots of places where you don’t always get “cuffed” when you are arrested. In GB you will only get handcuffed if you resist.
She wasn’t arrested in GB. So the question remains about Germany. Is it procedure to cuff someone arrested or not? Do yo have info on that?
Almost off-topic, but once again, the Germans with their fashionable black uniforms are knocking their British equivalents into a cocked hat.

Yes, I’m fond of Boris; imagine he’s a bit of a softie in ways that Carrie definitely got around him. However I trust that Boris is honest and if he becomes aware of something fishy with the climage modelling he won’t be afraid to talk about it.

What could have become very very ugly, hence why the press/cameras were there watching/waiting for an orgy meets bloodbath – they totally and perfectly defused it, smiling, laughing and holding hands.

Regardless of who’s doing it, no “fact-check” label is required. If someone is actually doing journalism, part and parcel of the publishing of the whole article should be fact-checking.
I don’t need some little sticker on it to tell me that, and if something is false, but you’re referencing it, I should discover that from other information you include…
