Greens get pranked with their own blind zealotry by some poor student in Madagascar. This destitute looking man with an anti golden rice poster is one of the pranks:
And the greens happily redistributed this image and text and many others the student created…until of course it was revealed the whole things was an experiment to see if the greens simply act as mindless parrots in social media, without once stopping to question if the outrageous claims made in the series of photos was real or not.
It is the same sort of inhumane blindness that created the horrid 10:10 video, where children were exploded in blood baths for not going along with the climate action plans.

I think the fellow at “PEAR” who is trying to get truth into science in Madagascar should send missionaries to EU and N. America. It will be a task on the scale of erasing world poverty, i.e. scrubbing the West’s education of metastasized leftist ideology. Can it be done?

What if this were an elaborate hoax to see how the skeptic faction accepts anything negative about alarmists/greens as fact and regurgitates it on skeptic blogs?
I did research it before commenting and I conclude it is not an elaborate hoax, but the response so far suggests that if it were an experiment to analyze the gullibility of the skeptic crowd, it appears to demonstrate that alarmists and skeptics are similarly naive. That suggests it is more of a human trait than anything to do with affiliation.

The “Last Polar Bear on the Last Ice Floe” video was exposed as a fraud but continues to be passed around and believed to be true. Emotionally appealing and bias-affirming falsehoods get passed around much more than true statements, and in some circles, truth is entirely established by how many “likes” you get and how often you get the same email forwarded to you. Expect the “I’d rather go blind than eat Golden Rice” photo to continue to be a slogan and an inspiration to young anti-GMO folks. I’m not sure this was a “win” for the truth.
The organic only fundamentalists are very difficult to reason with. The simple use of chemical fertilizers is supporting more than a third of the people who live on the planet. That is a fact. However, in the mad, irrational crusade to force organic practices on all people in the name of sustainability, NGOs and western intellectuals are working to ban chemical fertilizers.
This would be such a blow to our ability to feed ourselves and to export food, that growers believe it is now necessary to develop types of cereals that are transgenetically enhanced to retrieve more nitrogen and phosphorous from the soil. The idea that such increasingly nitrogen efficient crops would have to be developed and patented and sold is the direct result of the backwards, doltish attempt to end the use of simple N-K-P fertilizers.
In short, the organic fundamentalists interfere with what they know so little about, that they are forcing the development of new breeds to do what nature already does.
Organic farming only makes up 1% of farming in the US. There is a reason for this. It is so wasteful and labor intensive that there is hardly any yield, and some crops cannot be grown at all.
And yet, heartless NGOs and western academics are parachuting into foreign countries, and signing these poor farmers up for sustainability programs which force them into organic only practices. When the wining and dining of the locals is over with, however, the loss of the use of fungicides and other controls has resulted in severe losses of yeilds. How can locals afford these social experiments by environmental activists?.
For example, coffee growers in Central America have lost most of their coffee to a form of pathogen, which other growers had controlled through use of fungicides:

The use of GMOs is not a silver bullet! People need to meet the needs of their crops with simple N-K-P, and protect the crops from thousands of fungi which attack food both before and after harvest. Expecting GMOs to provide miracles without controlling these deadly attacks of insects and blight, and without feeding the crops, is not tenable.
I have two words regarding Monsanto – “Times” and “Beach”. That one incident showed Monsanto to be both incompetent and dishonest. That was a long time ago – perhaps they’ve improved. If there were to be a corporation in charge of my food supply, I would prefer it be a corporation with a better reputation than Monsanto. Just sayin’…

The use of legislation to control the food supply is the root of the problem. For example, the EU has banned the use of cinnamon and the sale of homemade jam preserved in jars.
These kinds of top down controls of the food supply are dangerous. The controls which determine which seeds should be available in different regions is a goal of sustainability activists and it is arbitrary and destructive. This year, in my own county, the selection of seeds I could buy in packets was reduced to next to nothing. Many of the seeds I usually buy were not for sale in any of the chain stores I go to. The legislation restricting our ornamentals, vegetables and fruits is the real issue – companies become bound by these new laws just as individuals are.
If you can make something sound bad many people will sign up without knowing anything about it. There was a good segment on The Man Show where Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla asked people to sign an petition to end woman’s sufferage. Many people blindly signed the petition to end women’s right to vote without knowing. They also did the dihydrogen monoxide joke.
But it just shows how people want to be part of something. They want to feel like they have done a good thing even if they don’t know the fall out from their actions.
Pranking Greenpeace? That seems a bit too easy. After all, their currency speculation department recently lost €3.8 million of donations.

I like WUWT, respect Antony Watts work and have read his blog most days for many years but I find the bashing of left wing/commie pinko greenie liberals a huge let down as it adds nothing to the climate debate. If anything its a mirror image of the politicized AGW alarmist agenda.
Recently Anthony ask what could be done to improve WUWT. I feel that not politicizing the climate debate would be up there at first position.

If the theoretical possibility of the whole “CO2 is the COz” of anything different than an ideal day or climate hadn’t been seized upon to promote a political agenda then there would be no need to address the ridiculous things political funding to promote a political agenda has spawned.
It’s not really a “left-right” issue but the left seems to the ones (in the US anyway) with their hands on the hockey stick lever.
Highlight some of the stupid stuff “the cause” have enabled to be promoted and maybe some who can’t always follow the science (like me) might just wake up and say, “Now wait a minute! Tell me again why that makes sense?”.
Then bring in the real and honest science explained at a level they (we) can understand.
Like it or not, politicizing the climate debate is the reality we live with. The politicizing of the debate won’t go away until there is no political gain left in it for the right or the left.
