Picture of the week – great moments in climate protests

I trained to be a 350.org climate activist, now I are one!

From the Keystone XL protest yesterday ahead of the SOTU address. Note the snow and cold weather gear which is required for a global warming protest, but that’s not all…

According to Matt Dempsey who took the photo, “about 50 activists showed up”, I’m not sure if their brains came with them to the protest though.

What do you expect from minimum wage paid protestors?

Collective noun suggestion: A Turney of activists.

Typical. Always displaying climate stuff upside down.

Uh…What was the name of that lake core Mann used? Perhaps he’s their “Climate Chumpion”?
(Or they are his?)

Did they use an evil, petroleum based plastic for that sign?

Worst case of brain freeze ever.
First ever case of mass brain freeze.

This photo makes me laugh and laugh! You’d think that ONE of them would have noticed BEFORE they got it all the way unrolled….but nope. Steven- I LOVE IT! A “Turney” of activists! Perfect.

Lets give these protesters a little credit. They tried very hard to get that banner right. Just because they didn’t doesn’t mean they are as dumb as rocks. Well, nematodes maybe.

Even better is Al Gore’s Jan 22 tweet illustration of activists with hammers smashing “climate denial”…which looks rather like a block of ice. comment image
The great man is off to Johannesburg in a couple of weeks, to catch the peak of southern hemisphere summer and preach on Global Warming. Tennessee too cold.

Is it a “Tiljander Banner”?
That’s my sediment.

Looks like they had too much of the Breakfast of Climate Champions before they set out.

Made in Tijander.

Given the photo in Aphan’s link, perhaps they were still in the process of setting up. Inflated, it’d be a long tube, so if they were presenting to people behind them, it would be fine once inflated and spun along its long axis. Maybe they were checking orientation at this moment (the tube isn’t yet inflated after all) and corrected the problem prior to inflation.
Of course, It’s so much funnier this way, but I’ve got to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Okay, it is the “Pipeline President or Climate Champion!” thing.

I like the snow in the picture best. Why are they so worried, Viner’s prediction has been falsified, they should celebrate their victory over warming.

Their banner model told them that was the right way to hold it.

I counted the number or organizers present in the photo prior to the protest. There were 19 individuals. If 50 were there, then only 31 people, other than the organizers, and I use the term “organizers” loosely given the upside down sign. FAIL

Anthony: Thanks for moving the Recent Posts list up one more “notch” in the sidebar. Now it’s only one page-down from the top. (I hope this applies to all subsequent threads, not just this one.)
