Right behind CNN

Now this was a surprise:

Out of the 2,854,671 blogs with 132,697 new posts today on www.wordpress.com. I was number 2, right behind the CNN Political Ticker. Details (while it lasts) at http://botd.wordpress.com/top-posts

Click for image

Surprise #2, I also made the WordPress main page as their top pick “hawt post”. Which you can see here (while it lasts) at http://wordpress.com/

Well looks like my 15 minutes of fame are up, I just got bumped to the #3 position.

Wow, congratulations! This place keeps getting better and better. I couldn’t do without my daily fix. Thanks to you and all the great contributors to.

I see your blog regularly as “hot post of the day” when I look at my blog stats. 🙂
REPLY: Thanks. Lucia, you do superb work, let me in on when you have new works of interest and I’ll do my best to drive traffic your way.

Congrats! Great job and all that! I’m so darned envious. I’m getting tired of fighting with blogger and was considering converting.

Yep, it’s a “must visit” for me, too. It’s nice to see an intelligent discussion of CO2 driven “global warming”.

Tasty.
And you were at *2 just now.
So why were you looking?
REPLY: Actually it just popped up on my incoming links in the WP dashboard as botd.wordpress.com so I opened it up. I’d seen that link about 3 times before, but I was usually at 97 or 85, or 77 or something like that. I was shocked to see #2

Congratulations!
Now pardon me for an off topic question but I’ve seen the Rev and CoRev stuff here before and wondered about it. Watts up with that?
REPLY: Thanks. It’s a long story, but start here and perhaps you’ll understand why Evan Jones started calling me “rev”.

Congratulations…..but it’s only natural that such a great blog should become increasingly influential. Keep up the great work – you’ve been my #1 Blog for months now!

What is this “special formula” they use to calculate the rankings. Does it count the 6 times I check in every day?
REPLY: I have no idea.

Lucia, atmoz and william briggs are all under appreciated. not a mean bone in the bunch.
Oh Congrats AW. You know its funny, when this time of the month comes I start
wondering what RSS, UAH,GISS, and CRU have to say. So I come here.

That is wonderful news. I am fascinated by this blog even though I hardly understand your postings and even less the contributors, the whole site is somehow imbued with common sense, blue sky thinking and an open approach to a difficult subject. Well deserved and well done.

David S, I assume you are talking about my posts. If not I apologize about being presumptuous. However, if you are referring to my inadequate posts I appreciate being linked in the same Blog with Anthony.

You’re also heating up the other blogs:
It seems that every other post at Tamino’s is now a rant against you.
Personally, I’ve stopped posting there, because of the continued beats against you and St. Mac, and his absolute refusal to do any meaningful critique of Mann et al. (He insists his 5-part paper on PCA answers all the critiques).
Add to that the fact that he is now calling himself “hansen’s bulldog”. This explains the reasons people should always spay and neuter thair “pets”.
Snip if necessary (maybe someone knows of a free spay clinic…)

Gary: Does it count the 6 times I check in every day?
Nice line, Gary. I think Anthony may have missed the subtle compliment… however I’ll go with the same line.
Great, Anthony! Does it count th 6 times I check in every day?
REPLY: And twice on Sundays 😀

Congrats Anthony. I must be one of the people that have pushed Australia up to third in the country list. But those pesky NZers are closing in.
Without this site I wouldn’t have learnt so much about solar dynamics, let alone the Maunder minimum and the coming Gore minimum. (is that when the Algorians are minimised :-))
Keep up the good work – I’ll go back to quietly lurking again.

A few months ago I was informed in an e-mail that the forum I help administrate was ranked # 80 in a list of science blogs.Yours was at the time # 81.
I was shocked because I thought your blog would be better ranked than my forum due to a deeper scientific discussion of the topics.Climate Audit was ranked even better than us.I might still have that e-mail somewhere but too lazy to look for it.
It turns out that the survey group considers posting articles and blogs from other quality websites an important measure of a forums quality.Since your blog garners considerable traffic. It gives my forum a bonus in the survey rating. When I post from blogs such as yours and ICECAP and others that has favorable traffic trends.Plus blog postings that are considered valuable for reading.
However I was even more shocked to see who was rated #1.It was (gag) Grist.I never have posted from that place.I can’t fathom how it could be # 1.
Until that e-mail came out of the blue.I never gave it a thought beyond a decent daily visitation rate to the forum.I have hoped to expand beyond a single topic of climate skepticism. Thus the reason for the many subforums I have personally added in the last 6 months. The SUBforums such as Universe,Abiotic Oil,Environmentalism, political cartoons and of course politics.
All in the effort to increase traffic.I am having fun all the while.Because as the site administrator who does most of the new article postings from around the web.I get to read a lot of interesting blogs.Your how not to measure temperature series was an eye opener.Since I had no idea that is was that bad. That is why I posted a number of the series for readers to learn about it.
I am glad your blog has taken off and I will continue to post some of your articles you post here at my forum. To widen your effort to educate the people.I remember when I posted one of your earliest “how not to measure temperature series” on the homepage. The number of readings went way up.Waaaaay up!
REPLY: Thanks for the kind words, more “how not to” series are coming.

What? Only Number 2? You deserve to be at Number 1 – at least!
Keep up the good work, Anthony.

What I like about WattsUpWithThat is that up-to-date science is presented in layman’s terms, and the topics are just simply interesting. I think Climate Audit is excellent too, but you have to be an expert in statistics to really know what’s going on, or to invest lots of time to digest the material Steve presents.
Don’t change anything here. Just stay the course!
On the other hand, getting near the top makes you a target. So be ready and expect the attacks from the GW zealots to crank up.

The increasing Tamino et. al. rants against Anthony show that the voices of reason are making progress. With a little help from the Sun, it won’t be long before a lot of AGW folks are dining on crow.

Help!
Why is it that we in the UK don’t seem to be swtiched on to your blog as we should be! Perhaps there are too many Greenish people at the BBC stifling all the news about global cooling, plus those at the Hadley Centre. I emailed the BBC about this some weeks ago & typically have received nothing back. UK news papers here have little to do with it. I really don’t belive in conspiracies but something must be going on for so much interseting information to be ignored! All we have over here is sterling work by the likes of Philip Stott & John Brignell to filter thro’ the dross & debug the myths.

Theres a whole pack of us bulldogs out there arguing the cause (topix, facebook, myspace, newspapers etc) and referencing and linking the great info you provide. Well done and many thanks. 🙂

Great job Anthony! I first came to your blog because you were the only one who took on the challenge to do the grunt work of checking out each and every surface station, I know hard work when I see it. Between you and Steve’s work, I think it’s safe to say no one takes the GISS Temp seriously anymore.
But you didn;t stop at that, you became a clearing house for the latest climate news, You seem also to have the greatest knack for putting up eye catching and funny graphics and photos. Keep up the great work!

Now this is hitting home:

This has got to stop. Once beer drinkers get pissed we may be able to turn the tide against global warming insanity!
