Got Climate Questions?  Try “Ask NYT Climate”

News Brief by Kip Hansen — 11 December 2024 — 250 words

As we all know, climate questions can be tricky and the answers are often controversial.  Luckily, we have access to the New York Times’ feature titled Ask NYT Climate.

As the climate controversy swirls in the minds of our rising generation, who have been carefully taught by their socially-conscious twenty-something grade school teachers that they are all going to die before reaching adulthood because of The Climate Crisis, there comes a journalistic white-knight to the rescue answering the youth’s most perplexing questions:  Ask NYT Climate.

Ask NYT Climate asks and then answers the hardest of questions, after careful and thoughtful investigation, fact checking and razor-sharp insightful analysis.

As result of their dedication, we now have the answer to the critical question:

What Kind of Cat Litter Is Best for the Planet?

The 1000-word article gives us the real inside scoop on kitty litter.  And the answer will surprise you:

“As always, clumps of cat poop and pee should

go into the regular trash.”

Author’s Comment:

Gee, ain’t they great?    I bet you thought that your choice of kitty litter was not a big deal, I mean, maybe you had erroneously thought that the fate of the planet was not balanced on the knife edge of that perilous decision.  Now you know better.

“Thank you, New York Times!”

and…Thanks for reading.

I asked..

“How will climate change affect the relationship between my dog and my goldfish ?”

Will they answer with a scientifically based response ?

When I needed cat litter, I used wood shavings and then put the stuff on various plants and flowers.

Need to generate 3 sqft new shavings per week every week… or wash woodchips.

Well, if you looking for questions to ask, I got one, but I don’t want to make an account there:

According to S. McIntyre the very first curve shown in IPCC6 summary for policy makers figure 1a was created using only one very long proxy, Cape Ghir (https://climateaudit.org/2021/08/11/the-ipcc-ar6-hockeystick/), which shows a recent alarming trend, but no Medieval or Roman warm period unlike clear historical evidence for both nearby that location. There is a resulting uncertainty from selecting this proxy over known local history which is not only missing in the reconstruction but also not at all mentioned by the authors.
Isn’t this output completely worthless , as long as this and virtually all other proxy based temperature reconstructions do not discuss their selection bias in a mathematically coherent way?

Please let me know how it goes, maybe that journalist even remembers Wyner´s testament under oath in Mann vs. Stein calling the MBH-method an example for p-hacking.

I appreciate is the focus on transparency.  I think the call to protect and maintain natural carbon sinks while also addressing the real need to cut fossil fuel emissions. Net zero emissions can unlock tremendous potential, both for addressing climate change and for fostering innovation. There is no climate crisis therefore no need to cut fossil fuel usage. The CO2 increase from fossil fuel usage is a net positive for the plant life on our planet.

Of course, once you have achieved the “you will have nothing” part, you automatically qualified for the “and you will be happy.”

The specific link is a blog. Not withstanding, the link and the user’s sobriquet lead to the obvious conclusion and reporting it is absolutely appropriate.

Hartek, a corporation that makes its money how? Oh. Thought so.

All from a blog. Definitely factual.

Now, where does Hartek get all its electricity for all those wonders of the future it is promoting?

Since renewables, like wind and solar, only exist to generate occasional electricity, as they CANNOT manufacture any of the more than 6,000 products and various transportation fuels made from fossil fuels, that are demanded by the various infrastructures of today, the same infrastructures that did not exist 200 years ago why eliminate fossil fuels when there is no known “replacement” to fossil fuels that can support the materialistic demands of the population and economy that are supporting the 8 billion on this planet?

Our cat takes absolutely no notice of the litter tray and says she prefers to do it the ‘natural way’ with mother nature.

I knew a wealthy woman in Santa Barbara Calif who lived in an area called Stevens Ranch high on a plateau with a fabulous house.
She inherited her wealth from her father.
His source? Johnny Cat cat litter.

Yes, in our society, providing goods and services that are sufficiently beneficial that others are willing to pay for them usually results in one getting “rich”….

December 12, 2024 11:14 am

Just another form of fiddling while the city burns. Our very successful and joyful society is being shredded by ecoloons and economic saboteurs and we are supposed to care what particulate matter our cats relive themselves on while contemplating ways to make cows fart and burp less. We might as well invite the National Enquirer and a gang of astrologers to teach our kids critical thinking.

It’s a good idea to consult with your climate priest for questions on points of climate crisis doctrine. You want to be sure you know what are venal sins or cardinal sins. Kitty litter choices shouldn’t be left to parishioners when so much is at stake.
