Applying Scale and Context to the Texas Smokehouse Creek Fire

The purpose of scale is to provide context. A 1 million acre wildfire is big. In the Texas panhandle, it killed two people, destroyed dozens of homes and caused nearly $5 billion in damage. Had a similar sized fire occurred in Connecticut, it would have essentially destroyed the entire state. Placing the area of the fire on a map of Connecticut is the exact opposite of using scale to provide context.
