People send me stuff. I often get hate mail, but this one was so irrational and feckless, I decided that I’d have to respond. Usually I ignore these, but this one offered an opportunity for a teachable moment.
First, I don’t work for the “fossil fuel industry” – I never have. I have not taken a single penny. It’s a common misconception (driven by people that publish outright fabrications with no evidence) out there that anyone who questions the “science is settled” aspect of climate change is automatically employed by “big oil.” It’s as if people like myself aren’t capable of having their own opinions rooted in their own research.
You’re wrong Susan, flat wrong. My opinions are my own, not bought, and unlike your tired and fact-free rhetoric, I have evidence to back up each and every one of them.
The other common misconception is that because I’m associated with The Heartland Institute, and they supposedly are getting funded by “big oil,” that also makes me a shill by association.
You’re wrong there too, Susan. The Heartland Institute does not receive any funding from any oil, coal, or natural gas companies whatsoever. Then there’s the other claim that “Heartland is funded by the Koch brothers to publish climate disinformation.”
Low-information people keep repeating these lies because it is far easier to spew hateful commentary than to spend time looking it up for themselves. Some facts from the Heartland web page Reply to Critics:
Is The Heartland Institute funded by the Koch Brothers?
No. Neither Charles Koch nor David Koch – nor any Koch family charitable foundation – is a current or regular contributor to The Heartland Institute. Koch Industries has never funded The Heartland Institute.
The Charles G. Koch Foundation in 2012 donated $25,000 to Heartland to support our work promoting free-market health care solutions, not climate issues. That is a paltry sum (0.36 percent) in our organization’s $7 million budget. That single donation – to support our work on health care issues – was the only Koch-connected contribution to Heartland in nearly two decades. [Important note: Heartland didn’t begin to support and promote scientists who are skeptical of human-caused climate catastrophe until 2008.]
The “Koch Brothers” generously support many nonprofit organizations that promote free markets and individual liberty. The Heartland Institute is not among them. Our policy positions, at any rate, are based on principle. We are not a “pay to play” organization.
Can you reply to specific accusations made by ExxonSecrets?
The site presents a list of gifts from ExxonMobil to Heartland from 1998 to 2006, based on annual reports from ExxonMobil, but fails to mention that the gifts never exceeded 5 percent of Heartland’s annual budgets, makes no mention of Heartland’s policies that separate donors from our researchers and writers, and presents no evidence at all of an improper relationship. It should matter that Heartland gets 95 percent of its income from energy consumers and only 5 percent from energy producers, but this fact doesn’t appear on ExxonSecrets.
While the first gift to Heartland reported on the ExxonSecrets site appears to have been made in 1998, the site fails to report that Heartland was questioning the science behind the global warming scare since 1994. And although ExxonMobil hasn’t contributed to Heartland since 2006, Heartland greatly increased its concentration and publication output on global warming since then.
So there you have it. I never have taken funding from “big oil” and Heartland hasn’t had any since 2006. But that doesn’t stop people like Susan from repeating a lie they use to justify their hate mails.
The most ridiculous statement from Susan was this:
“…people are suffering and dying.”
Apparently Susan thinks this is all due to me having and publishing an opinion she doesn’t like.
Well, once again its easier to repeat a lie to justify your hatred than it is to actually look up the data on that. For example, Susan did you know that “climate related deaths” are actually approaching ZERO?

Now before you say this is a oil-driven lie too, I’ll point out that the data comes from the International Disaster Database at https://public.emdat.be/ – you can register, login, grab the data, and plot it yourself, though I doubt you will, because science is hard. But, here’s something easier for you to wrap your head around. I’m assuming that your letter was driven by the recent media hype over heat waves. Here’s an immutable fact from NOAA, bold mine:
July 1936, part of the “Dust Bowl”, produced one of the hottest summers on record across the country, especially across the Plains, Upper Midwest, and Great Lakes regions. Nationally, about 5,000 people died from the heat. The heat was accentuated due to a prolonged drought that was affecting the region, and poor farming methods which left little vegetation to help mitigate the hot temperatures. In Illinois, many locations saw peak temperatures in excess of 110 degrees at the height of the heat wave, with all-time high temperature records established during this period.
https://www.weather.gov/ilx/july1936heat
Now if people were suffering and dying from heat waves today, especially in numbers like that, you’d surely hear about it in the media. But, you aren’t. Bottom line – we have learned how to adapt to heatwaves today, and yes while some people that don’t have the capability to adapt or make bad life choices are suffering and dying today, the two facts I presented above show that in the present-day, humans are doing far better than they did in the past at dealing with weather events like heat waves.
Based on my decades-long experience with haters, I don’t expect Susan will embrace this information, much less send an apology. Instead, she’ll likely find ways to work around it to maintain her erroneous belief system. Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) said it best:
“It’s Easier to Fool People Than It Is to Convince Them That They Have Been Fooled.” – Mark Twain
For those of you like Susan who feel the way she does and want to send hate mail, you can use the contact form in the menu above under About>Contact. Go ahead, make my day.
And, from the great Charles MacKay:
“Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.”
Oh man – you HAVE to mention his book from which (I assume) that quote was pulled –
” Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.”
Just replace Tulipomania in the 1841 publication with Covidomania or Climatomania and you can guess the rest. Also I often cite H L Mencken’s 1920s comment on Imaginary Hobgoblins.
I like the chapter Modern Prophecies which begins
An epidemic terror of the end of the world has several times spread over the nations. The most remarkable was that which seized Christendom about the middle of the tenth century. Numbers of fanatics appeared in France, Germany, and Italy at that time, preaching that the thousand years prophesied in the Apocalypse as the term of the world’s duration were about to expire, and that the Son of Man would appear in the clouds to judge the godly and the ungodly. The delusion appears to have been discouraged by the Church, but it nevertheless spread rapidly among the people.
I think the present delusion would surprise even Mackay.
oh I dunno
you hear Gebresus calling it climate boiling or somesuch drivel today?
For those who may doubt you, they can read it at archive. org: https://archive.org/details/memoirsofextraor01mack/page/n13/mode/1up
Thank you for the link, on behalf of the multitude assembled here …

She managed to waste your time
Such a short note too, barely even a memo. She must not have imbibed much by the time of the writing though, she appears to have only Half a Hater on
But not so much as the time she wastes that is all hers..
Isn’t that her job?
I’m sure Anthony should have a pro-forma that he can just copy-paste to send to fossil fuel DENIERS like this little girl.
Unfortunately, I see that Wikipedia has a rather negative view of Anthony: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Watts_(blogger)
And, the same for the Heartland Institute: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartland_Institute
I thought these sites are easy to edit. Has anyone tried to improve them?
Based on them alone, someone would think that Anthony is an uneducated climate denier and that Heartland loves tobacco and is obviously on the take from the evil ff companies.
Of course I don’t put much faith in Wikipedia but I do look at it when I’m too lazy to do proper research.
Wikipedia pages for any controversial issue or person tend to be overseen by activists who (apparently with unlimited free time on their hands) continually monitor for contrary updates and immediately reject and reverse them. If you persist, you will get into an update war that can be all-consuming. It’s not really worth the effort. You just need to accept that Wikipedia is owned by aggressive zealous “progressive” activists and treat its content with the appropriate skepticism.
This is true….although the war in this page has been relatively quiet until last week when there was a bit of to and fro on one wiki technical issue.
the wiki references a report (BEST I think) that said despite poor siting, the temperature record of surface stations were accurate (when comparing trends displayed between “good” and “bad” stations)
it would be good if this could be confirmed or denied…seems pretty important.
In other words the data is biased/adjusted towards producing the desired trend regardless of siting
No, it’s just all averaged together, giving the false impression of homogeneity.
We’re not supposed to use that term anymore
Homogeneity is now Transgenity
I rarely do what I’m supposed to. Just ask my wife.
Why!?
BEST just stated in that claim of theirs that random number generators produce useful information.
Which goes along with NOAA’s temperature adjustment algorithms and claiming models produce usable data.
If a thermometer is unable to produce an accurate temperature at any time, relying on trends from that thermometer is delusional.
This is exactly why I laugh out loud whenever I see their “begging for cash” ads on their site. If they were truly objective, I would shirley donate.
Don’t call me Shirley!
ah yes
william whotsit immediately removes alters anything he doesnt like as I remember
I recently was solicited for a donation to Wiki’. I responded that I would not financially support an operation that was obviously biased. I received a reply denying any bias on any topics. “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
Just about every leftist I have ever debated was 100% convinced that everything they believed was mainstream and that they were dead center in the political spectrum.
In my opinion this comes from the fact most leftists wouldn’t be caught dead in the presence of someone who disagrees with the narrative. Their friends would disown them if they did.
As a result everyone they know agrees with them, resulting a conviction that everyone agrees with them.
Now that Hunter Biden’s sweet heart plea deal has fallen through and it looks like he will be getting into real legal trouble, the harridans on The View have declared that they no longer want to talk about Hunter.
It’s an ongoing investigation now, they “have” to stop.
My politics are so far right that there is nothing to the right of me. I classify myself as a constitutional conservative giving me a somewhat unique perspective as to what the middle of the road is. I see how little both sides understand the constitution and its goals. Yes there are a few republicans who are constitutional conservatives but not as many as there should be seeing they took the oath of office to obey the constitution. I see the leftist as people who are totally ignorant of how this country is supposed to work and want it run by feel good ideas. Needless to say, I have relatives that I don’t talk politics with. I even have to be somewhat careful what I say to my mother because she leans more towards middle of the road.
You’re a better man than I am, gungha din. I don’t talk to most of my relatives BECAUSE of present-day politics.
For a laugh, look up anything related to the Greenland Ice Cores projects.
GISP 1, GISP 2, NGRIP, etc.
Or the Greenland ice Sheet itself.
You will find that, incredibly, they have omitted the graph of the results from these studies, and make some truly preposterous claims besides for that glaring omission.
They claim the ice cores show that the temperature has been “remarkably stable” over the period of time documented by the ice core records.
And they show a picture of the core itself, as if anyone looks up the subject to see a hunk of ice showing annual layers.
And of course the reason is obvious: The Greenland Ice Core data makes it plainly obvious that the Little Ice Age existed, and it was long and very cold, that not only the Medieval Warm Period, but the Roman Warm Periods existed, and were very long and very warm by comparison, even by comparison to the recent period.
And it makes it plainly obvious that the Holocene Climate Optimum was very warm, far warmer than now. Knowledge of all of these time periods, and what events and conditions accompanied each of them, is very bad, fatal even, for the alarmist mythmaking.
When it was warmer, not only were deserts not larger and worse, but places like the Sahara were not deserts at all! Golly! Gets kind of hard to claim such warm periods were only regional too, huh?
Imagine people who purport to be scientists, but who take it as their job to prevent anyone from finding out actual, factual, information, and instead seek to promote and perpetuate a pack of dangerous lies.
Here is what Wikipedia shows for Greenland Ice Core:

Here are the results of the ice core study that they will not allow to be seen:
NIcholas, just for interest’s sake.
Do you know if that warm spike between 1739 and 1562 has any particular “name” or relevance in human history?
You mean the period where Britain becomes a dominant world power courtesy their navy and merchants using the oceans for their advances?
Yeah, that makes sense.. Not a history buff !
The time scale is “Years Before Present”.
That would be 261CE (AD) and 438CE
Seems like a warm spell in the middle of the Dark Ages.
I’ll have to look around for the answer to that.
The Wikipedia page on Anthony Watts (like all pages sceptical of the CAGW hypothesis) are maintained in perpetual state of vandalization. Any changes are picked up within hours (presumably by bots) and reverted to comply with the message. An early culprit was William M Connolley (who has made at least forty seven changes to the WUWT page alone, and many thousands elsewhere. Doubtless an army of activists are also involved.
I only use Wikipedia for looking up biographies or real science and engineering topics. The rest is pretty much dreck.
Proper uncorrupted science stuff you mean
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
There is no cure for stupid, ignorant people like Susan Wheadon.
just another delusional climate hactivist
Does Susan Wheadon like to stay warm? Use cosmetics? Eat? Occasionally make use of prescription medicine?
UNLESS Susan Wheadon lives on a deserted island, she makes use daily of so-called ‘fossil fuels’ … in fact, she owes her very life, if not the quality of her life, to ‘fossil fuels’.
We know she uses an ipad which uses not only mined rare earth minerals but forced labor, and likely enjoys a comfortable middle class or higher lifestyle. I guess SHE enjoys making people suffer.
I reckon she needs a week with Bear Grylls to get filly into the non FF way of living that will see her sleep inside a dead camel, drink her own urine and be fully acquainted with autocoprophagy but still be uplifted by the fully green experience. Keep us up to date, Susan.
You made me look up that word.
I will NOT thank you for it.
Some animals use more than one stomach. Some animals are more efficient and they just use the one stomach twice (rabbits sure are cute little things…).
Our cat “Tiger” caught and ate one of those “cute little things” yesterday.
In my experience, it is very difficult to teach climate alarmists anything. Their minds seem to be totally closed to any information that challenges their religious beliefs. However, I do enjoy their reactions when I point out that they sound just like Flat Earthers.
Rank and file climate alarmists such as Susan Wheadon really know practically nothing about any aspect of climate, and they don’t care to try (would make their brains hurt). Like Susan, they were entrenched leftists already. Whatever narrative the left preaches, they mindlessly accept as fact and jump on the bandwagon. Along comes “climate emergency,” and they are all in. Susan is living evidence why the U.S. must remain a representative republic and keep the Electoral College. Leftists want a pure “democracy,” not imagining that would be the death knell for freedom and liberty.
‘their brains’?
It is the identical response from my relatives regarding “the flu”. Disappointing.
I found this interesting quote this morning while checking my NOAA weather source.
“Heat is the leading cause of weather related deaths most years”.
“According to the new study by researchers at the University of Illinois Chicago, patients who died because of cold temperatures were responsible for 94% of temperature-related deaths”
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/08/200818142149.htmO
Even the Lancet declared cold related deaths are up to 10x greater than heat related ones
Although they used a truly deceptive graph to show the results !
Yes they did, but despite their deception, they couldn’t hide the truth, just obscure it
Yes, and I posted that same quote a day or two ago on WUWT. All the gov’t. agencies are reading from the same script.
Susan must be aware that wind turbines and solar panels manufacture absolutely nothing for
humanity. Those “renewables’ only generate intermittent electricity, for
the products made from oil !
Maybe Susan Wheadon has a replacement for crude oil that is presently the basis of 6,000 products made from the oil derivatives manufactured from that useless black crude oil, and the fuels to power the 50,000 merchant ships, 50,00 jets, and space launches.
The ‘Energy Conundrum’: ‘Renewables’ Only Generate Electricity, Yet Most Products Derive From Oil – OpEd – Eurasia Review
No, Susan isn’t aware of much really
If CNN doesn’t cover it, it didn’t happen.
Like most who back the anti-CO2 agenda and have panic attacks about slight warming…
… , they to it from a basis of profound and deliberate ignorance.
If anything, there’s more than adequate evidence to at least suspect that fossil fuel companies are deeply into the climate crisis panic. Just imagine how nice it must to adjust upwards your ask price, or reduce your costs, through manipulation of public opinion and government policy. Channeling Andy Rooney, Didja ever notice how many “big oil” names and relatives are large contributors to idiocies like “just stop oil” or “The Conversation?” Didja ever suspect that huge profits might come from shorting a stock in coordination with an obviously frivolous lawsuit, or that sandbagging the suit might help undercut competition, or pad corporate legal expenses? How ’bout them Rockefellers: messin’ their own nests or crazy like a fox?
PS, an afterthought Since the world seems to seek to redefine language perhaps we should revisit “feckless”: the referenced comment seemed pretty well fecked to me. Maybe we could have an AI program that can filter public messages by feck content quotient?
Susan makes such detailed and cogent arguments, and presents so much data and information to support her claims.
/sarc
Perhaps Susan is an AI bot programmed to peddle the emergency narrative using any old garbage data it can muster?
I applaud your efforts to educate Susan Wheadon, and people like her. I have long given up trying to convince people like her of anything.
“You cannot reason people out of a position that they did not reason themselves into.” – Ben Goldacr
“You cannot reason people out of a position that they did not reason themselves into.” – Ben Goldacr
… hence corporal punishment is sometimes the best effective measure.
Agreed.
I doubt you will, because science is hard.
Science isn’t hard but understanding is. To understand you must be willing to question anything you know and discard anything you might wish for. Looking at the facts with an open mind is difficult, however the reward is great. You gain the ability to not only understand the world but you gain the ability to predict the future to some degree. You also gain the ability to spot fools and crooks before they take advantage of you.
So many people are willing to completely trust others without questioning their motives and unfortunately these are the people who vote for our leaders. It explains why world is in the mess it’s in today.
Very true.
Susan uses FF every day, every day, every day, every day…what a hypocrite!!
I dare bet Susan is a raging lefty, in beliefs and sensibility
And lack of intelligence
That is the fact that all “stop oil and anti fossil fuel zealots ” fail to recognize .
Just go to any city in any country in the world ,the population in any city rely on fossil fuel for their very existence.
All their food ,their transport of that food, heating and cooling their homes , and every artical that they use on a daily basis has an input of fossil fuel .
The problem right around the world is the News Media constantly hyping up” climate change ” this week ,wild fires and hot weather in the Northern hemisphere ,less sea ice in Antarctica, and a dubious study on the collapse of ocean currents .
The world needs a media company that can counter this ceaseless propaganda and show that 99% of these claims are not caused by our emissions and that fossil fuels are the greatest gift to mankind .
I love the Exxon Secrets part. However, someone needs to remind the alarmists that alarmism has been very good for Exxon’s business since coal has been replaced the natural gas Exxon sells. Natural gas is also a much better backup for variable wind and solar. Perhaps skeptics should ask why alarmists keep pimping for Exxon’s natural gas sales?
The common feature of all totalitarian systems is the prohibition of questions. These regimes begin by monopolising what counts as rationality — what counts as acceptable public knowledge — and then place any dissidents outside the pale of rational conversation. Surveillance of dissident thoughts and behaviours and censorship of dissenting opinions then expand together … This is the essence of what Eric Voegelin said about totalitarian regimes of the first half of the 20th Century.
It´s hard not to agree with his conclusions based on his political studies. Thinking about it, what Voegelin concluded makes sense, the pseudo-sciencetist Yuval Noah harari (WEF) have said, that the likes of Hitler and Stalin would be jealous of modern technology.
Go ahead, make your day … “perhaps” Susan is a part of this video (1 min and 19 seconds) and the cognitive infrastructure it represents. The end of the video clearly points out the state of minds which Susan represents. The start is funny, the end is pathetic and shameful.
The Dancing Nurses Are BACK! | Cringe Nurses Dance To Protest Climate Change – YouTube
Keep up the good work. It´s not your fault that Susan is a class 5 weather-station.
We are all “reactionaries”…
I do hope they got permission from the Bee-gees management to change the lyrics and then paid royalties for the public performance of a copyrighted work.
Good one … I´m still awaiting the sequel to the video where they performs autopsies on the dead ones, this is a clear case of Death by extreme Climate Changes.
Taken in consideration it wouldn´t suprise me, the first articles about climate lockdowns was printed medio 2020 – and last year, Nature published an article which suggested that climate changes should have it´s own code. Death with or off climate changes comes to mind.
2021 as the year between 2020 and 2022 was an intresting year. The largest study suggested that abnormalties in the weather was causing 5 millions deaths a year – and the burden of disease would cause 83 millions excess deaths by 2100. If you publish those numbers like the Lancet did in their figure where they compared deaths of hot temperatures and cold temperatures, it would “freak” many people out.
… and, if you showed them a more truthful picture and figures illustrating that fewer people dies from temperature changes, then, you would be labelled as a climate-denier.
I would love to know how many of those dancing and play acting have kids – but then say no NEW fossil fuels. So their kids are not allowed the benefits of fossil fuels? It is all virtue signaling and then they drive their SUVs home and turn on the AC and then use more fossil fuels.
Just to put on record, as an ‘alarmist’ poster, I think it is disgraceful to make personal attacks on or make threats against anyone based on their legitimate views, even if I strongly disagree with them, as in this case.
Anthony Watts allows people with differing views to him, like me and Nick, etc, to post openly in the comments section here. We get shouted down a lot (it would be boring otherwise), but we are allowed our say.
Thanks for that Anthony. I fully support you in this matter and hope whoever did this faces criminal prosecution.
That’s the most sensible thing you’ve ever said here, you have been paying attention to something.
Not that I support this rubbish, but I know a lot of Police persons who would react very swiftly to these comments rather than attend a burglary or car accident. Her surname is spookily apposite whichever way you look at it.
“make threats against anyone based on their legitimate views”.
You’re entitled to your opinion.
The issue isn’t about “views”, legitimate or ludicrous. It’s about remaking civilization based on tenuous correlations and an unfalsifiable hypothesis.
actually now we are NOT entitled to our opinions it would seem, examples Ireland and scotland recently on any twit feeling upset about anything you say do or did decades ago seems to get a visit from thought police
aus is working hard on it too
Well said TFN – it’s nice to come across a rational, respectful alarmist – I do hope, as a climate realist (sceptic), we can travel to the truth together
That’s a big hope- good luck with that- but don’t be terribly dissapointed when you realize TFN may not contribute to “traveling to the truth together”.
I dunno- people who make fierce personal attacks against entire industries while implying anyone who doesn’t agree with them is a fool, or an idiot, or on the take from some evil company deserves to be on the receiving end of personal attacks. If they can’t take it- then shouldn’t dish it out. If they were polite about their opinions- backed up with evidence and data- then yes, they shouldn’t be attacked.
You get why this site is valuable. I think if Michael Mann submitted a main “post” it would be accepted.
(Though I doubt his ego would stand up to the replies!.)
There’s an “Environmental Specialist” on LinkedIn callled Susan Wheadon but Anthony’s email doesn’t look like it came from a specialist ……
Not unlike the geophysicist Michael Mann who pontificates on all things biological related to climate.
What. Are. The. Odds.
I think it’s more likely she’s a bored granny with a twitter account. Other than that there are a lot of Susan Wheadons out there.
Is it required to ignore all the safety warnings on a tube of glue to be considered an “Environmental Specialist”?
‘Not sniffing glue’ would be my advice to the rabid supporters of climate doom.
Great response Anthony
I love tackling these unwashed climate alarmists, with their off the scale hypocrisy and naive understanding of climate science or the energy sector, because they are so easy to ridicule and repel
Of course, they’re not interested in debating the science, because the alarmists version of things just simply won’t stand up to any factual data based scrutiny, so they resort to the time tired ad hominem attacks, spewing out their back of a fag packet defences, such as the made up 97% consensus deceit
You can see watching people like Dale Vince of Ecotricity, who, in order to protect his taxpayer funded green subsidies, trots out all the usual biased, unproven IPCC / green mafia doomsday deceits, supported by their empirically unproven, computer modelled narratives
Whether you ignore them, or challenge them, it makes absolutely no difference to their new religion belief system – the data, facts and science are against them, but you will never achieve a rational debate from anyone who is happy to glue themselves to a busy road or criminally vandalise someone else’s property
Thanks Anthony.
Likely she won’t read much of this, or believe and understand.
The weather deaths (hot, cold, etc.) data are not hard to find.
She and the media and the politicians are the so-called useful idiots.
Again, thanks for taking the time to respond to her and letting the rest
know.
Seems to be a good chance she hails from Michigan and is using a nom de plume. The other given name, Pankhurst, is associated with the famous Suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst.
https://www.miclimateaction.org/susanpankhurst
Perhaps someone with twitter access can review her contributions there via the above .
Seems better not to worry about who she is. I’m not a fan of the canceling or outing people approach. The message she sent is short and generic, a first-level unthinking spasm of anger.
That probably sums up the opinion set of a high percentage of the religious greens out there. You can’t fight an individual in that group. You can only make yourself look bad by trying.
The best way to fight it is to challenge the schools that are teaching religion rather than science today. Unfortunately, that’s a fight science lost quite a while ago, so there’s a lot of catching up to do.
I am not trying to encourage a cancellation. Her Twitter might reveal more about her ability to think critically than her email did.
When I see the people who join in with environmental cults like XR and JSO I note they tend to be people whose lives seem otherwise somehow empty. It has become the opium of the people, as Marx put it.
Her name is an anagram of As Newshound. She/it is picking up points. Either way, it loses.
Susan Wheadon, like most of her herd, understands that Anthony Watts opinion outside of the herd is responsible for [people suffering and dying]. The herd’s opinion, for which she is not responsible, leaves Susan free of responsibility. AND that is the basis of these [useful idiots] sense of social virtue.
If I may add, herd think is also their relative understanding of globalism. All one large hive mind. Utopia… ffs!
The WHO says that between 1998 and 2017 about 166,000 died world-wide due to “extreme temperatures”. They also estimate that 236,000 people are the victims of accidental drowning annually world-wide. They admit that the estimate is likely much too small. Stay away from the water or learn how to swim.

Aw c’mon Shirley, somebody say something………
If you can’t stand the heat in the kitchen, get out.
Anthony,
You are wasting your precious time responding to these new religion cultists
They are not interested in facts, sensible debate or an opportunity to be rationally challenged
The ad hominem attack mode clearly shows they have no other purpose than to try to cause you some form of grief, censure or cancellation, better to not engage, unless they show some sign they are willing to debate sensibly
(driven by people that publish outright fabrications with no evidence)
You mean like “hottest July EVAR!” Stories, and just general Global Climate Warming Change articles, as well?
Well said!
I surmise that “Susan Wheadon” (so-called, maybe Susan Pankhurst) is the following person:
“Susan Wheadon
First and foremost Susan Wheadon sees herself as a grandmother who is very concerned about how the continuous damage done to the environment will harm her grandchildren and generations to come. She would like them to have clean air and water and access to all that is beautiful about the planet. Susan feels a personal responsibility to do what she can to make a difference. Growing up near the Love Canal and in an area where nuclear waste has impacted her hometown has made her more aware of this responsibility.”
Source: https://www.nmeac.org/our_board
She is a new member of the Michigan Climate Action Network: https://www.miclimateaction.org/susanpankhurst
Her Facebook page has a fasc(ist)inating collection of lunatic left photos: climate action, shut down pipelines, get your COVID booster, pro-masking, pro-Biden/Harris, anti-Trump, support Planned Parenthood, anti-guns, pro-Black Lives Matter, White-guilt, supports open borders and illegal immigration. She seems to fit the typical profile of a leftist, low-information voter. She might be a smiling grandma, but she is probably intolerable at the Thanksgiving family table.
So Anthony, she is unreachably entrenched in radical leftist ideology, a straight-ticket Democrat. She won’t let facts get in the way.
Does she know the real story behind Love Canal? I’ll bet not. That affair was papered-over for misdeeds committed by a greedy city and involved developers eventually too.
Susan Wheadon is going to lose her mind, when she reads The Guardian.

“global boiling”…. hope it is very gradual, so that I don’t notice it until it is too late.
Admission: I am directly linked to the fossil fuel industry.
I have never worked or received money from them… but…
… just like everyone else in modern society, I am highly dependent on the products and services they offer.
I would find it extremely difficult to exist without the things that fossil fuels offer to society.
And to Susan. since you undoubtedly have a car, use electricity, buy products from the shops, live in a house etc etc…
… the fossil fuel industry would like to thank you for your continued and unwavering support.
I now identify as a fossil fuel user …..
I’m hooked on buying bicycle tires and tubes each year – am I tied to the fossil fuel industry too? I can’t seem to avoid attracting road debris that forces air to leave my inner tubes.
Yes you rubber abuser, you are tied to the fossil fuel industry. You need to start a sustainably sourced natural latex inner tube industry shipping product only on sailing vessels (naturally built using time honored native techniques utilizing natural tree falls, wood and natural fiber, no petroleum derived sealants). By paying more than the market rates for labor and material you can easily sell them to the woke marketplace for almost a tenth of what they will cost.
These climate loonies, I would love to know how many of them have kids!? Likely MOST of them. Hypocrites!
The Left has decided that death is the result of the failure to act. If one person dies of heat or lack there of, it is a climate death and so, a failure to act collectively to prevent it.
Anthony:
I am sure I speak for thousands when I say that we will never forget the years of talent and effort you have put into the climate thing.
Thank you sir. You are one of the best.
Very nice reply, I have no respect for Susan.
Your husband has been interstate for two days now. You must be getting lonely. Would you feel better if I visited you after midnight when your two little boys are asleep? We could talk about dirty nuclear energy or dirty sex. … ”
Phone calls like that went straight to local police, who were most cooperative with increased patrols etc. It can be a nasty business, this hate. Geoff S
This might be the same Susan Wheadon, I do not know.
Susan Wheadon
First and foremost Susan Wheadon sees herself as a grandmother who is very concerned about how the continuous damage done to the environment will harm her grandchildren and generations to come. She would like them to have clean air and water and access to all that is beautiful about the planet. Susan feels a personal responsibility to do what she can to make a difference. Growing up near the Love Canal and in an area where nuclear waste has impacted her hometown has made her more aware of this responsibility.

One thing that almost never gets mentioned is that Exxon gave $10 million to Stanford University for climate research.
This did come up in a funny way. Back before my climate or other views got me banned from Twitter, I noted that Mark Jacobson, climate “scientist” and fabulist extraordinaire, claimed that anyone funded by “Big Oil” couldn’t be trusted.
I pointed out to him (and the Twitterverse) that he, Mark Jacobson, was and is employed by Stanford University in the very part of the school that got the ten megabucks of free money from Exxon.
Logically, I asked him if that meant that he himself couldn’t be trusted.
His response?
He blocked me. Typical for that kind of poseur, he couldn’t reply with facts so he replied with cowardly force.
Pathetic, but sadly, those are the folks in the seats of power.
Keep fighting the good fight, and Anthony?
Thanks for everything you do.

Now that you’ve gone to the trouble to compose your response, you can just save it. Odds are that you’ll have reason to use it again.
Susan dear, knowing the “Imagine” lyrics is not considered as science.
