Extinction Rebellion Radicals Claim Responsibility for a Stage Invasion

Essay by Eric Worrall

Jacob Rees Mogg – free to hold “his national loonies convention next week and see how many people show up”.

Watch: Extinction Rebellion Activist Storms Stage at National Conservatism Conference

KURT ZINDULKA15 May 2023

A leftist agitator allegedly acting on behalf of the climate alarmist Extinction Rebellion activist group stormed the stage of the National Conservatism Conference in London on Monday during the keynote speech from former cabinet minister Jacob Rees-Mogg.

During an address from former Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster, a man climbed up on the stage in order to disrupt the NatCon Conference on Monday.

Grabbing the microphone from Rees-Mogg, the leftist told the crowd: “Ladies and gentlemen, you’re very nice people and I’m sure you are fantastic. I’d like to draw your attention to a few characteristics of fascism.”

A green radical seizing a microphone podium from a speaker by force, shoving the speaker bodily out of the way, then denouncing the speaker as a fascist, has a certain irony. Reminds me of descriptions of other speakers in another time, who got manhandled by fanatics who invaded their meetings. But self awareness has never been an Extinction Rebellion strength.

Entertaining as he is, Rees Mogg is a long way from being my favourite conservative. In 2022 Rees Mogg wrote a piece for The Guardian, urging people to get on board Net Zero. At the time Rees Mogg’s mum was reportedly trying to get approval for a large wind farm, though I don’t recall Rees Mogg publicly stating his views on his mum’s wind project.

The silliest part of this protest is, Rees Mogg probably would have been happy to accommodate the Extinction Rebellion gentleman in a staged debate if he had asked nicely, and might have even agreed with some of his points, given Rees Mogg’s support for green energy.

But Extinction Rebellion have had a few bad experiences with Rees Mogg. Back in March this year, Rees Mogg reduced Extinction Rebellion’s Phoebe Plummer to incoherent spluttering in a televised debate. Phoebe is one of those Extinction Rebellion radicals who goes around trying to deface priceless artworks, to force people to listen to her point of view.

Whatever my reservations about Rees Mogg’s claim to be a small government conservative who supports big green, I can’t fault Rees Mogg’s handling of this latest Extinction Rebellion outburst.

h/t Mr. David Guy-JasonJacob Rees-Mogg also said Britain “must get every cubic inch of gas out of the North Sea”

How is any eco-nazi, especially an XR bully, an “ordinary person”? The eco-left gets more and more Orwellian by the day.

The sooner that Extinction rebellion go extinct the better for every one living on this earth .
Like all greens and eco warriors they have very little idea how the world works and even less how their own country functions.
I am quite sure that they are absolutely ignorant of how their food arrives at the super market.
They have this idea in their heads that our “emissions “are going to lead to a much warmer world which would be great for them during your British winter when your electricity fails if they convinced your government to abandon coal ,gas and Nuclear electricity generation.
They cannot see where their demands if undertaken by a compliant government would lead to a man made disaster and it would hurt every person in the UK..
It is all very well having these ideas but once a country ends up with a shortage and unreliable electricity the fabric of the country will start crumbling .
These dimwits cannot see ahead to what could and will happen ,destroying jobs and export income as industry moves to other countries on the other side of the world.

The environmental group said it would take a break from acts of public disruption in order to bring more people on board its campaign.

The British arm of the Extinction Rebellion environmental group said on Sunday it would take a break from acts of public disruption in order to bring more people on board its campaign for urgent action to counter climate change.

……But exhibitionists just can’t help themselves.

You’re massively simplifying Rees Mogg’s views on the climate issue based on one interview. He has also said we should extract every bit of oil and gas we can from the North Sea.

Nothing he says makes any sense because everything he says is self-serving.
Even after Truss’s “True Blue Tory Budget” (as the Daily Mail called it) he still pretends to have some economic insight. He’s a failure. As is his party. This conference was a wake.
On the bright side, he’s getting kicked out of Parliament whenever this Government next dares face the electorate.

The very fact we need to be told (i.e. we are stupid, they are not) that this is an ‘ordinary person‘ says the exact opposite.
After that, what we see is either

  • a random/hopeless drunk or
  • somebody trying to emulate a Monty Python sketch – acted out by Zombies. Only Moggy was actually ‘with it’ and present at the scene

Simultaneously very sad and funny for all the wrong reasons
just like climate science

(its helpful if you know how and where to dance. Islington *maybe* notso much – move across to Dalston/Shoreditch)

Perhaps if you’re a conservative in Britain, you feel you must accommodate your opinions to those of your jug-eared halfwit sovereign. And having made said accommodation, one ought to make the best of it, snout in the trough and all that?

There are no conservatives, that’s just the old name.

In Parliament there are the minority unhinged – Limp Dum, SNP etc, then there is the ultra-far left aka the Labour party and the far left party aka the Conservative and Unionist party.

You need to remember that here feudalism never went away.

That’s apparent. My impertinent point was however that in principle, conservatism in a British context, Tory, if you will, is in support of the traditional class structure, starting with utmost respect for the Sovereign at the pinnacle of that structure. What is JRM to do? To oppose bird shredders would be to disregard the King’s deeply held convictions. Loyalty to the King forces him to take a daft position. Happily for him it comes with thirty pieces of silver.

That is in contrast to over here in Utopia, where conservatism used to mean limited government, free market, classical liberalism. There are no conservatives anymore, whatever your definition.

What is JRM to do? “

Maybe he could hire an extra nanny for Sixtus?

He has the square root of naff all in common with the common man. He is a feudalist.

Just a quick note. This event was not a political event. It had no meaningful association with the Conservative and Unionist Party (Tories). It was a conservatism event not a Conservative event. Most of the attendees were conservatives who are as fed up with this appalling Tory government as the rest of us.

I can’t disagree with you other than to say Moggy would have been wheeled out to talk about conservatism, not government policy. Two very different things.

My opinions on anyone associated with government is that they should not have second jobs, they should not trot off directly into a job at Facebook when they retire from politics (Nick Clegg) until they have at least a three year (paid?) cooling off period, and any family or close friends investments or associations with events influenced by current government policy (NetZero, Ukraine etc.) need to be openly declared.

The main problem, I think, is that politicians are now acting on their own beliefs and not analysing the responses of their constituents.

Did politicians ever not act on their own beliefs?

As for Clegg and his ilk, if you are suggesting that taxpayers pay them for doing nothing for three years, count me out 🙂

watching the video shows that he didn’t seize or shove.

he did appear to be about your age, so you wouldn’t have needed to injure him to stop him, you could have just twisted him onto his ass and left him rubbing his hurt wrist.

(for some reason I can’t even visualize hurting someone my age … it just doesn’t seem right to beat up old people)

Funny that fascism is mentioned by them, as XR is one of the Blackshirts org’s financed by George Soros. Other well known are BLM and AFA/AntiFA. The latter with the infamous Thunberg family as members …
