Biden Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg on CNN: “Climate is not nonsense. Dealing with climate change is one of the biggest things that people like me and people like him (GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell) will be remembered for after we’re gone.”

Biden Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg: “Climate is not nonsense. Dealing with climate change is one of the biggest things that people like me and people like him will be remembered for after we’re gone.”
Buttigieg pushes back on McConnell criticism of ‘woke initiatives’ – Yahoo News: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Tuesday pushed back after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) criticized him for focusing on what the GOP leader called “woke initiatives” over the recent train derailment and chemical spill in East Palestine, Ohio. “Even amidst a catalog of crises on his watch, from this and other recent train derailments to the meltdown in air travel back during the holiday season, Secretary Buttigieg has seemed more interested in pursuing press coverage for woke initiatives and climate nonsense than in attending to basic elements of his day job,” McConnell had said on the Senate floor. …
“As for climate, climate is not nonsense. Dealing with climate change is one of the biggest things that people like me, and people like him will be remembered for after we’re gone.”

As U.S. Sec of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg focuses on “every transportation decision” being a “climate decision”, China-made cars take over the world.

I don’t want to remember him at all. But I might. Just like Dr. Goebbels.
No one should remember a Transportation Secretary. The only reason Pothole Pete is newsworthy is because he’s a failure.
He got hired because Biden needed to hire a gay guy in his cabinet. But that slot should go to a highly qualified engineer which Pete ain’t.
The only thing the left hates more than a straight, white engineer who doesn’t support the Church of Climageddon is a gay or black engineer who doesn’t support the Church of Climageddon.
We think we have it bad? It’s ten times worse for someone they think they’re protecting not agreeing with them. We all saw the knives come out when Nikki Haley announced. How dare she.
I’m surprised ol’ Pete got out there at all. I thought he was too busy on leave recovering from the physical travails of adopting a child.
He should have stayed home to breastfeed his children.
I looked this up out of curiosity (since I don’t use Google, hopefully it wasn’t recorded for posterity and I’ll start getting all kinds of things in the mail). Apparently, it is theoretically possible, but not practical or even ever verified as having been done and certainly not just something a man can do if a baby is placed on the chest a few times. Most likely, if a man is breastfeeding, it’s with the use of tubes and a bottle. TMI, no doubt.
Not that I really care, either. If Biden has so little use for a transportation secretary that his choice can go on vacation for months at a time, then we will see dangerous train derailments and absurd policies that indicate what he really wants is for people in the flyover states to sit at home all day, too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer and let Washington spend our future on all kinds of woke garbage like unreliables, bigoted nonsense and, I guess, the aforementioned tubing.
CHESTfeed, you pervophobe!
Nikki Haley – another empty suit. When will you learn?
Mr. Buttplug fits in perfectly with Jumpin’ Joe Bidet’s Cabinet of Incompetents.
But he is not a “Trans” secretary, Charles.
He is gay, and out of the closet.
He should have stayed in the closet.
Everyone should stay in the closet, in my opinion.
No one should care what other people do in their bedrooms.
Maybe we benefited from all his paid leaves?
I know the leftists love words that begin with “trans”, such as transsexual, transgender, transformation and transition, but one “trans” word they don’t like is transportation.
I don’t think that was why he was hired. As you remember he was running for president. I suspect Biden offered him a cabinet level job if he would drop out of the presidential race and endorse Biden. From the Progressive’s point of view the fact that is gay was probably just an added bonus. After the election Biden put him in Transportation probably because he figured that he couldn’t do any harm as Secretary of Transportation. Normally Transportation is just a sleepy department that pretty much runs itself.
(MODS! Feel free to delete if I’ve crossed a line. No offence taken.)
I call him Buttplug.
Oww. You gonna get canceled.
I’m sure he know that PETROLIUM Jelly will reduce the “oww”.
(MODS! Sorry. I’m done with replying along this … end.)
I was not overly happy with the original name calling. Name calling is not needed to make PB look bad.
I don’t see any reason why anyone would want to delete your comment, Gunga Din. It would be pronounced boot-a-ploog.
Show Proper Respect !
Are you sure that is the preferred pronoun?
Today’s guardian has a message for him
I’m thinking more like Robespierre.
He could’ve been the current President with the right speech writers and PR consultants. That would’ve enabled Putin and Xi to move faster.
He’s probably right, but just not in the way he imagines.
Question instead will be whether Mayor Pete’s remark there will be remembered as the point when we hit “Peak Clima-Change™ Delusion,” or if that was just another speed bump along the way to the top.
How Pothole Pete will be remembered…
Is a trans secretary anything like a trans athlete?
Does it steal women’s luggage?
The leader of the teacher’s union was out in front of the supreme court whining about how awful it was that people were complaining about Biden’s attempts to cancel student loans. She pointed out that the government helped people and businesses during the COVID crisis, and nobody took that to the Supreme Court.
Two VERY big differences between the two scenarios.
The COVID crisis was caused by government actions, and secondly congress passed laws authorizing those benefits.
The students decided on their own to take out these loans, nobody forced them to do so.
Biden used a presidential order to authorize the cancelling of student loans. He didn’t go to congress because he knew congress would never authorize it.
Once again the far left demands that their president be allowed to do whatever he wants with no restraints or restrictions.
Somebody needs to remind the whining bitch that student loan payments (AND interest on the loans) have been put on hold for 3 years.
So, yes. The govt did recognize and act to help student loan holders during and after the COVID ‘crisis’ that she helped to expand.
Yes, I realize I misspoke. It was a mistake and I am sorry for any discomfort I may have cause Ms. Weingarten or any others that are offended by that wrong, debasing and hurtful language. Please understand that that type of utterance does not define me … I had a weak moment and even I don’t understand my mindset when I wrote that … I believe that I am more disgusted with myself than anyone else.
(There Simon, all better?)
“All of a sudden, when it’s about our students, they challenge it, the corporations challenge it, the student loan lenders challenge it,” she continued. “That is not right, that is not fair, and that is what we are fighting as well when we say cancel student debt. This is about the people, and it is about the people’s future, and it is about all of your futures.”
Including the qualifier ‘conniving’ would have clarified my intent a lot better.
Apologizing to the wrong species, there, DonM. Calling Weingarten a “bitch” is a grievous insult to every female canine everywhere.
Same point again. Name calling takes away from a point that had been good to stand on its own.
(referring to DonM’s language)
Is this what you wish to be known for?
how about whining, bitching, conniver…
“Somebody needs to remind the whining, bitching conniver that student loan payments …
Would I still offend your sensitive nature. Bitching as a verb, or bitch as a noun. means the same thing … unless you are looking for a reason bitch.
You made a strong point. The fireworks are not required. It becomes “all about” the fireworks.
Well, that would be bitching as an adjective, technically. And not even in the ’80s valleyspeak sense. But it does make a big difference. The focus should be on her Orwellian leadership of an entity that happens to have “Education” in its title. My sense is that they want to keep students illiterate and constantly in a state of bewilderment and anger. Easier to control that way. Focus on the policies, not the speaker.
Many American liberals love the idea of royalty with all of its titled nobility and separation of classes. They love Camelot. They are infatuated with the British Royal Family. They would love to have America ruled by a King and want to give Biden king-like powers. They aspire to be lords and ladies amongst the peons they look down on and dream of controlling them with an iron fist. It’s all about power and control and not letting the rubes get in the way of their loving beneficence.
Climate is not nonsense. However, most of what Buttigieg says or does is.
In one sense, I really can’t blame him for saying and doing what he does. After all, virtue signalling over stuff like climate change has got to be a lot easier and much more fun than actually doing the job that he is supposed to be doing on behalf of the people. He can’t possibly be held accountable for this inevitable failure like he should have been for not being able to fill potholes in South Bend.
But we now have an entire administration stuffed with this checked box figureheads who couldn’t run a lemonade stand, much less address the real problems the nation faces.
His biggest achievement to date was renaming the “Notice to Airmen” system to “Notice for Air Missions” to be more inclusive instead of actually fixing the decades old broken-down system.
THAT is the biggest thing you will be remembered for, Mayor Pete, if not for being involved in the purposeful teardown of over a century of human progress.
“But we now have an entire administration stuffed with this checked box figureheads who couldn’t run a lemonade stand…”
I think it was Newt Gingrich who said it was statistically impossible for that many incompetents to be assembled under one roof. It had to be planned :<)
If it was a random sample of a static population, Newt would be correct. But government offices and agencies are more like a sediment trap or cold trap. The slow and weak stay, the energetic move on. After a while, the agency is filled with drones incapable of moving on, stuck in the system. So it is predictable. It can only be corrected if there is a means to fire the incompetents and a reward for the folks doing the firing.
Right now there is a reward to keep the drones and hire more staff.
“I need more staff, they can’t keep up with the work.”
“I need a promotion because I supervise a larger group.”
“I need more staff because …” (see step one).
Remembered for “Climate”?
I thought his legacy was elimination of racist roads and bridges!
(..or making sure here are not too many melanin deficient members in road construction crews.)
Are you going Pete? Will it be soon?
Let’s hope that Beetlejuice, Beto or another politician the voters rejected won’t take his place!
I have it on good authority that Laurie Lightintheloafers will be starring in the next zombie apocalypse movie. No makeup needed.
“Dealing with climate change is one of the biggest things that people like me … will be remembered for”.
Maybe he thought being “Transportation Secretary” meant building obstacles to the ability to transport people and goods.
Nonsense. We all remember Emmett Kelly don’t we?
And fourteen clowns piling out of a clown car should certainly qualify as mass transit.
Except for the “
BogBig Guy”, this Buttigieg person is likely the biggest nut case in an administration filled with folks totally unqualified for the positions. Now there is a nominee to serve as the next leader of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that is not qualified.
We need to start throwing dead chickens into a volcano and see if things improve. 🤣
I think this one would require something more substantial. Trans secretaries, maybe?
start with dead chickens… no improvement, move to live chickens … and so on.
Improvement will be seen when those that actually make the decisions are one stage away from the volcano.
The really tough part in the US at this point in time is figuring out who is making the decisions. Is it really a behind the scenes group that still includes obama, or is it just a consensus committee of morons?
I thought Biden, Harris and Buttigiege WERE dead chickens.
The stench of moral corruption can easily be mistaken for putrid flesh…
Next time, pay attention to the lips, chickens smile much more engagingly than the people you mention.
On the other hand, I must admit, the senseless pecking around for words, the but full of reproductive organs, the headless rush to oblivion, the intellectual cowardice, the plushly feathered nests, the corniness, the obsessive attention to pecking order… The cackling, oh the cackling!
You’re right, they may be chickens…
Get a list of those that “checked the boxes” of “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”.
Put them at the head of line to save time.
“Equity” has been added since I retired from my Government job.
A couple of our best people were fired on the spot because they uttered a forbidden word. Who knows how many qualified people were not hired because of DEI.
And I’m only talking about local Government. What has been happening on the Federal level since at least Obama?
“Deep State” is not fiction.
OT John, how did you do the strikethrough?
I’ve tried “Ric Werme’s Guide to WUWT” methods from “Test” dropdown for preformatting and strikethroughs but they don’t seem to work anymore.
(Maybe it’s on my end?)

Did you forget Granholm?
A governor so bad that she temporarily turned a semi-blue state red. I don’t know what it is about Michigan voters – they seem to like Democrat governors who want to chase away small business.
As her reward, Obama gave her the keys to the graft machine that generates millions for political hacks. Now Biden is wondering if he can dump Harris for Whitmer in 2024.
Jennifer Granholm is an electrifying public speaker. If she hadn’t been born in Canada she would be a likely Democratic presidential candidate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKux363Dg64&ab_channel=ABCNews
But she fails to electrify the grid.
Yep, and and you won’t be fondly remembered
Climate is not nonsense. Agreed. Thinking you can control the climate, that’s nonsense. Oddly enough, that might be the real appeal of being a climate advocate. You can never be held accountable for the effectiveness of your actions plus you get to use it as an excuse when a disaster happens due to blundering by civic planners.
You might want to watch abbreviating “Transportation Secretary Buttigieg” as “Trans Sec Pete.”
Is that an Ingsoc thing?
It might not be fair to blame sissy Pete for every train derailment in Yankee land but there are many policies that fall at his doorstep. How about the FAA computer system failure that made it possible for thousands of travelers to camp at airports? In the end he’ll be remembered for that wonderful photo of him in bed with his husband and a baby. Great campaign graphic.
The transportation secretary.
And the point of your post is?
mebbe simply to irritate people like you.
Please don’t tell me that they were allowed to adopt. Please tell me that those are two puppies that they can’t confuse about what is natural. Please!!!
(I recently leaned that Karine Jean-Pierre with another woman had adopted a baby.Poor kid.)
Why don’t such adopt puppies or kittens instead of people?
PETA will attack them for having a pet. And if they violate ASPCA guidelines and abuse their puppies and kittens, it is far more likely to end up in the press than whatever their housekeeping staff and nannies do to the kids. (Regardless of who does what, the staff will be blamed.)
This is at once comforting and horrifying. Comforting because saying this makes clear he really believes in dealing with climate change. It’s not just an act.
Horrifying because, well, because he really f—ing believes it is our doing and it needs to be fixed, even at appalling cost.
Let’s find out! The sooner, the better.
They’ll be remembered; but not kindly
I’d love to know how mayor Pete thinks he has “dealt with climate change”….First off, there is nothing we humans can do about the climate or the weather (well, short of cloud seeding, which can work up to a point). Second, I can’t think of a single thing this guy has done at all! He’s made no moves to buttress and harden transportation infrastructure against natural disasters, and he hasn’t done diddly with regards to man-made transportation disasters.
As said, I’d love to know what exactly it is that he thinks he has done…..
There’s that old saying about the good dying with men but the evil they do living on and on. Which, in many cases, is true. Pete will be remembered for the Palestine train wreck (even though he didn’t cause it) and the air traffic control nightmare last fall, among other things. Not really evil in his case, just malfeasance and ineptitude.
“Dealing with climate change is one of the biggest things that people like me … will be remembered for after we’re gone.”
Buttigieg will be in good company …
Weapons of Mass destruction were well known to exist in Iraq prior to the war, after all Saddam had used them on his own people.
Saddam had spent most of the previous decade doing everything in his power to evade the inspection teams that he himself had agreed to.
WMDs and WMD programs were found in Iraq after the war.
Buttigieg says: “What? Me Worry?
Far more likely he will be remembered a short while for overweening incompetence and then forgotten.
“people like me and people like him”
Buttigieg is a disgrace, a disgrace to western civilization in general and America in particular. He needs to go.
Transportation Secretary Buttigieg will certainly be remembered, but not for the reasons that he thinks.
It is really hard to decide who is the most incompetent in the Biden administration. Pothole Pete has serious competition from Wordsalad Harris, Energy Secretary Grenholm who knows nothing about energy (or apparently anything else), and Mayorkis at DHS (supervising the southern alien invasion). And then, there is Biden himself with his daily dementia related gaffes and stumbles, who “put together the most diverse and inclusive voter fraud organization in history.”
And not a word has come out of him that deals with the job he was appointed to do.
How apropos. Trans- refers to a state or process of divergence from normal… science.
The incredible incompetence in these energy and climate science ignorant Democrat politicians is mind boggling.
The U.S. used wind and solar for all of 4.5 % of its total year 2020 energy consumption according to EIA which considering the trillions of dollars and decades of Democrat unreliable renewable mandates is nothing short of pathetic to be “remembered” as having achieved through government interference.
California used wind and solar for 8% of its total year 2020 energy consumption according to EIA which is also pathetic given its hyped campaign since 2006 pushing unreliable renewable energy mandates costing at least 100 billion dollars in subsidies, fees and other energy cost commitments.
What on earth makes these kind of idiots believe this is what anyone in his right mind would want to be remembered for.
