The Mexican Sun Sets on Making Sunsets

Readers may remember our recent article on the geoengineering startup, Making Sunsets.

By the “Make Sunsets” blog post below, it seems to be little more than one guy in Oakland, CA, Luke Iseman, who’s upset about “climate change” toiling in his backyard launching weather balloons purchased from Edmund Scientific while trying to beg money from science-challenged people in the hope of some wishful climate effectiveness.

Well the Mexican Government has stepped in and said no mas.

Mexico plans to ban solar geoengineering after rogue experiment

A US startup carried out a geoengineering experiment in Mexico, which the country claims was done without prior notice and consent

By Sebastian Rodriguez and Joe Lo

Mexico announced this Tuesday a set of measures to ban solar geoengineering experiments in the country, after a US startup began releasing sulfur particles into the atmosphere in the northern state of Baja California.

The Mexican government said it will develop a strategy to ban future experimentation with solar geoengineering, which will also include an information campaign and scientific reports. However, the government did not announce more specific actions.

“Mexico reiterates its unavoidable commitment to the protection and well-being of the population from practices that generate risks to human and environmental security,” said the government in a statement

…The company’s co-founder Luke Iseman said he conducted the experiment in Baja California because he lives there.

The Mexican government said the experiment was carried out “without prior notice and without the consent of the Government of Mexico and the surrounding communities”.

Making Sunsets is already selling “cooling credits” for future balloon flights with larger amounts of sulphur dioxide for $10 each.

“Your funds will be used to release at least 1 gram of our ‘clouds’ into the stratosphere on your behalf, offsetting the warming effect of 1 ton of carbon dioxide for 1 year,” the company claims on its website.

OK…then let’s see you stem the tide of “refugees” on your northern border carrying Fentanyl and the Cartels Human Trafficking

The Mexican government is powerless to stop this and most likely are fully corrupted by the cartels in any case. They can no more stop the flow when Dementia Joe wants the floodgates open, than they could allow the flow when Trump cracked down on it.

US policy either enables or undermines the rule of law in Mexico. Right now The Big Guy of Ten Per Cent fame is undermining the rule of law in Mexico.

As if anyone knows Climate well enough to engineer it? Or in which direction? The Little Ice Age was an era of famine, plague, and witchcraft trials.

well,
we’ve already got the plague and trials.
I guess the famine is next…

Naw. 5 to 7 trillion $ of public funds spent against “climate change”. With some much swriling around, who would miss a few bucks here and here? He just wanted to catch some of the crumbs from the noise that Mann and his ilk generate.

I tend to agree with you, AndyHce.

So much money being creamed off the general public by the climatariat, It’s difficult to begrudge one particular guy his chance at “Hey, why not me too?”.

Exactly AndyHCE! This needed to be banned, but not because a trivial amount of cooling might occur. It needed to be stopped because it was a pure and simple SCAM!

Arrest him….put him in a Mexican jail….that will teach him….

Haha, thats hilarious. Most oil and gas companies combust H2S to SO2 in flare stacks as the lesser of evils in the amount of tons of S per day, kilotons for the biggies, and this know-nothing is going to charge people $10 per balloonfull…..Ha haha ha ha.

Heck, Id buy some of that just for the hell of having a real original world saving certificate to show my grandchildren in years to come to show just how crazy the world had gone in the early 2020s

Climate change did all that? Purchased weather balloons and begged money? Or does someone not know how to use commas?

Lol!!

Glad we have you on the pedantry force, Jeff.

The image of a personified (deified?) Climate Change ™ toiling away in this poor guy’s back yard, uninvited, is just tickling my funny bone.

What an ugly horrible world we now live.
Where anything and everything is misunderstood, often deliberately so and where any spark of originality or ‘difference’ is deemed a threat and is, via tsunamis of relentlessly tedious and contrived thinking, wrong.

Whereupon a huge machine comprised unthinking jobsworths, officially employed or not, descend and do **everything** in their power to extinguish the spark – labouring the delusion that their ‘doing science’ or that they ‘know better’.
Are smarter. Care more. Possess more virtue. Are richer. Have bigger dicks.

‘children’ in the broadest sense might be regarded as ‘original sparks’ – every last one of them actually is such a thing.

That’s where the babies went. Potential mothers didn’t and don’t want their bundles-of-joy to have to endure that – can you blame them?
Existing bundles are now neurotic suicidal wrecks, ever worried that that killing machine is gonna take them down next – as they watch their parents simultaneously become part of that machine and victims of it. With no other option.

It *was* predicted. It *is* happening. Starvation is the cause.

A number of ‘climate scientists’ along with many other academics etc have signed up to an organisation calling for an International Non-use Agreement on Solar Geoengineering.

Of course they have! While most here would be with me that tinkering with the atmosphere would be a pointless waste of money at best, and a threat of dangerous cooling at worst, the Climastrology communists fear the idea of any “solution” to their contrived “problem” that fails to collapse Western Civilization.

If their whole house of cards could be toppled by burning up a few hundred billion dollars worth of sulfur up in the stratosphere, then we would have no need to dismantle all of our industry and send it off to China. We could resume exploring for fossil fuels and enjoying a modern standard of living, and there would be no need to continue with myriad subsidy farming enterprises.

Salute!

I don’t get it, somehow eliminating a zillion tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is not considered geo-engineering. Neither is covering a thousand acres of dirt with PV panels, despite the CoP for bio-diversity stating that interfering with solar insolation is geo-engineering( was in one of the article’s references I looked up). Another ref described carbon sequestration as geo-engineering unless is capturing stuff from burning fossil fuels! Guess I can’t have a tree farm to create all the pellets being burned in the U.K.

Oh well.

Gums wonders…
