AOC’s Climate Crisis Doc Tanks at Box Office

The movie’s official trailer from YouTube

RoadsideFlix

From the description on YouTube

Filmed over four years of hope and crisis, TO THE END captures the emergence of a new generation of leaders and the movement behind the most sweeping climate change legislation in U.S. history. Award-winning director Rachel Lears (Knock Down The House) follows four exceptional young women— Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, activist Varshini Prakash, climate policy writer Rhiana Gunn-Wright, and political strategist Alexandra Rojas— as they grapple with new challenges of leadership and power and work together to defend their generation’s right to a future.

To The End opened on Friday December 9th. Here are the weekend gross receipts from Box Office Mojo

Less than $10,000 from 120 theaters. That may be a record low.

I checked two theaters near me. One had four showings/day the other five.

Assuming a similar number of showings per day nationwide, this would mean, on Saturday and Sunday, less than one person per showing, and at best, one audience per showing on Friday, if we assume a minimum ticket price of eight dollars.

Since most people don’t go the movies alone, that’s a lot of showings with zero people in the audience, likely more than 50%.

On Rotten Tomatoes, as expected, the film received a high critics’ score of 83%. Continuing the trend of divergence between audiences and critics, out of the more than 100 audience ratings there was not a single viewer review above the minimum of one star.

Audiences are apparently just stupid. After all it is an award winning film.

My guess is the critics who contributed to Rotten Tomatoes didn’t watch it either…

When did Rotten Tomatoes last have any credibility at all? It’s been obvious for a long time that critics reviews are just shill reviews by the access media. Negative audience scores are throttled, called brigading, and the audience called the usual insults.

The one thing Rotten Tomatoes really hates is rotten tomatoes.

That is because you CLEARLY do not know what you are doing and can’t be trusted.

Our Elites and Experts honestly think this way. People who are giving negative reviews are clearly only doing it out of spite, so they are not being fair and hence should be removed to only live the ‘real’ neutral or positive reviews.

Review Bombing, they say, Is Part of the Alt Right.

However what they fail to consider is that Review Bombing works both ways. What if the difference between multiple people going onto a review site to say ‘1/10, would rather stick forks in eyes then watch again’ and multiple accounts from oddly newly created accounts saying ‘OMG! 10/10! Stunning and Brave?’

Yes Review Bombing exists, but it exists because a sub group as a whole are utterly sick of being offered up utter rubbish and expected to pay for and praise it.

Formal “Reviewers” can squee all they want about how good a movie is, but a single reviewer fills a single seat.

Either you consider your movie to be art for art’s sake and publish at a loss, or you need to have people actually give you money to see your product.

That’s been my opinion of “critics” for years.
Long time ago, I made a point of avoiding any movie that was nominated for an Oscar (except for music and special affects).
Lately I’ve been avoiding pretty much everything out of Hollywood. Even Disney no longer makes the cut.

Maybe I have too much time on my hands but I’m soooo trying to figure what’s going on here, with these girls.

I’m kinda thinking ‘ergot’ – a very plausible cause for the appearance witches in olden times
And then, is ‘someone trying tell me something‘, this landed in an email this morning:

CopyPasteQuote:”Glyphosate has infiltrated our air, food, and water.
In a shocking study by my friends at “GMO Free USA”, 39 out or 44 restaurants tested positive for Glyphosate in their food!
The most toxic was the whole grain bagel at Panera Bread, a company with the motto: ‘100% of our food is 100% clean’.
Even bread from Whole Foods was loaded.

OK it’s almost as panic stricken and hysterical as AOC herself, talks about ‘friends’ but maybe there’s a (haha) grain of truth in it?
That’s exactly the sort of stuff AOC would be eating innit? whole grain bagels

I’m coming to the conclusion that nobody should eat Modern Wheat.
Yes, Norman Bolaug did wondrous work but, with the dwarf wheat he created, he turned Wheat Gluten into an absolute horror.

It is a monster molecule (in every sense) made up of smaller, equally monstrous parts and perfectly trashes our digestive tracts as it goes through.
OK, we have been eating gluten from lots of sources for a very long time but it still affects Every Last One of us, to varying degree. But in comparison, they were benign.

Some folks seem entirely impervious, but they ain’t.
And for increasing numbers of folks, it is life-endangering hell.

Mix the new wheat gluten with Glyphosate, then add the fact that, and despite Idso Snr’s assertions, Vitamin C in our food is now 15% of what it was 3 generations ago.
Vitamin C is our immune system and that system is what protects us from exactly those sorts of horrors.
Also Vitamin A (hello hello: Golden Rice anyone – why is there now a requirement for such stuff?)

Would that set off The Insanity that is: Climate Change?
Have we all become witches, to varying degree?

Not least, the countries/societies/places where climate hysteria is rife are exactly the places that use most Roundup. (Now called ‘Gallup’ in the UK)
Plus: The exact same places where most, per capita, people perished from ‘the virus that can not be named

And when Linus Pauling said what he did about Vitamin C, he was and still is, laughed at.

Maybe far, far fewer people are ‘mentally ill’ than AOC et al would like to believe? Maybe more read the daft Green New Deal that was accidentally published. It reads like a 6th form student’s manifesto…

Economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work

We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast, but we think we can ramp up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, plant lots of trees and restore our ecosystem to get to net-zero

https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/5729035/Green-New-Deal-FAQ.pdf

Who [in their right mind] would want to pay good money for this ego trip?

follows four exceptional young women
as they grapple with new challenges of leadership and power

And how to fully get rid of farting cows. It’s funny how AOCs waste of celluloid has fared much like that other recent woke disaster; “She Said”

“It has a stellar cast. It has received glowing reviews. And it covers a far more famous investigation — Kantor and Twohey won the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 and it was the Times’ revelations that effectively spawned the #MeToo movement. Yet She Said has flopped spectacularly. Its US opening earlier this month was one of the worst box-office performances in cinema history, taking in a woeful $2.2million over a three-day weekend.”

While virtually all documentaries rarely produce big box office numbers – people mostly watch them on cable TV channels eventually – it’s also proven that liberal theology makes for bad box office. Even Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” opened to only $281K, and after nearly 2 decades only $49 million, despite being massively hyped by both the greens and the Democrat Party. Certainly more than this flop produced, but far from “blockbuster” status that typically entails box office returns in the hundreds of millions of dollars in the year of release. The top 17 movies in 2022 all produced at least $100+ million this year to date.

The highest grossing documentary this year – “Moonage Daydream”, a doc about David Bowie – produced $4.2 million to rank 106th, and that is 420 times the gross of this film. “To the End” ranked 388th in box office this year to date.

This is no surprise to any reasonable, sensible, right minded person

Her grasp of politics is demonstrably incompetent, it therefore follows anything she will get involved with, will also tank

The season for these woke lefty, illiberal plotsters is almost over, the pendulum has already begun to swing the right way, as it always has and always will – one only has to look at the results of renewables, ESG investing, Net Zero ideologies etc and the accelerating unpicking of them by societies increasingly hostile to them and those peddling them, to see the BS is no longer being swallowed

The damage done to society by the woke infested cabal, in all their guises, will leave some irreparable consequences, but politicians and their masters in nefarious institutes like the WEF, UN, WHO etc will only push the overwhelming majority to a point, beyond that, the push back will accelerate, as shown recently in Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, China etc

To the End is in theaters so it will qualify for an Oscar nomination. Believe me, it will be nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film. That’s a done deal.

To the End is expected to have a bad box office. It was most likely distributed as part of a package deal. The theaters signed an agreement to show this piece of crap for a week or two in exchange for the rights to show the next big thing. Then again, it’s on a lot of screens so somebody might have actually thought people would go see it.

Since we here, I’m also going to share my new theory of film with everyone — Why the heck would anybody pay good money to see little films in a theater? (Queue the snark — yes, this film is as little as they get, but we’re digressing.)

Films like documentaries and most character-driven dramas simply don’t take advantage of the big screen. They scale down to home viewing or streaming very nicely. But movies such as Top Gun or Avatar can be better experienced on the big screen, especially when accompanied by DTS or Dolby sound systems.
