This Year’s Puffin Scare Story

From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

By Paul Homewood

h/t Ian Magness

From the Telegraph:

Every year we get this silly story, generated by grant-funded, climate alarmist scientists, and every time the gullible reporters fail to check the actual facts.

Note, of course, that it is always “COULD” and “MAY”!

Atlantic puffins in Europe range from the far Arctic north down to Northern France.

In Britain, puffins are thriving off the Pembrokeshire coast, on Skomer and Skokholm Islands. On the former puffin numbers have shot up in the last decade.

And last year ITV reported that populations on both islands were the highest since the 1940s, when there was a steep decline:

https://www.itv.com/news/wales/2021-03-24/puffins-return-to-skomer-island-as-population-grows-to-highest-level-since-1940s

This April, Wales Online reported that this year’s Skomer Island count had found 38896 puffins.

There is no evidence whatsoever that climate change has had any effect at all on puffins.

What we most certainly do know is industrial fishing, particularly in the North Sea, is affecting them:

New research led by the BTO shows that the UK’s internationally important seabird populations are being affected by fishing activities in the North Sea. Levels of seabird breeding failure were higher in years when a greater proportion of the North Sea’s sandeels, important prey for seabirds, was commercially fished.

https://www.bto.org/our-science/publications/peer-reviewed-papers/indicators-seabird-reproductive-performance

But as sure as clockwork, the same dopey reporters will be publishing the same fake news next year.

They aren’t dopey
They are following orders.

The puffins are such a lovely example of how Everything, in this modern world, is now Wrong
That Pembrokeshire puffins are fine and others, most notably up/down the east coast of UK are quite completely fugged.
The Wrongness starts (and ends) with the word ‘food’, puffin food.
Puffins love to eat, along with plenty other maritime critters, things called Sand Eels = things that swim

And they, thanks to farmers and soil erosion are doing fine. Their food supply is blossoming because of UK’s naturally fertile rock and that UK Government, exhorted by the EU, are railroading UK farmers into shovelling all that high fertile goodness into the water around the UK.

Where it unravels badly for puffins (east coast puffins) is that the insane wrongness that is contemporary human medicine and nutrition asserts that, for humans, Omega 3 Fish Oil is an ‘essential nutrient’. For humans.
How this came to be is beyond belief as the only really significant global source of that stuff in Krill, operating in the waters surrounding Antarctica.
Whereas as Human Types evolved on the grasslands they created in tropical and sub-tropical Africa.
So how did those ancient folks even get their hands on any Omega 3, let alone build it into their genetics as an Essential Nutrient.

Never mind that, thanks to the sterling efforts of the EU Food Machine, almost everyone now thinks that sugar is a Good Thing to eat.
But the expoloding health disaster that is modern human health/medicine says completely the opposite

So, just like the GHGE but in reverse, Science says that consuming tiny amounts of Omega 3 will fix the health of billions, (Tiny amounts of CO2 will trash the weather/climate for billions)
And because those billions of people have had their thinking/cognitive abilities as utterly trashed as their physical health by eating all the sugar they do, they are desperate for a remedy. Inside themselves they ‘know’ something is wrong.

So they grasp after a remedy. Any remedy. No matter how tenuous. No matter how expensive, either financially or environmentally. They want their health back and can you really blame them.
The parallels with climate are gobsmacking eh not?

Expensive, financially, being the clue/demise for the puffins in that A Load, A Shipload, dozens of shiploads in fact, of folks have realised how they can make money out of this.
So they do by sailing up and down the UK’s east coast sucking as many sand eels out of the water as they possibly can. (They hail from Denmark)
Then, on return to sunny/windy Denmark, they do so enjoy building windmills there, mash up their trawl so as to extract the Omega Oil.
(Should I have spelled that; s_n_a_k_e oil?)

And so they get rich and folks, via the placebo effect, get well.
Richness is great innit, then you can stop having kids. What’s not to like?

But that’s not the end of the damage and the wrongness.
There comes to be mountains of mashed up Sand Eel that nobody wants (similar to the story of margarine and Fluoride-in-water in fact)
So the Danish mashers have convinced (some, not many) folks who keep livestock that this stuff is ‘Good For Their Animals’ – because it is a very potent source of Protein (and some left over oil)

Unfortunately for the target critters, cows/sheep typically, they are not, contrary to popular opinion in all quarters, they are not any great consumers of protiem
And, surprise surpise, it makes them ill,. And then we eat them.
And doing so makes us even more ill than we already were, we are not evolved to eat any great amount of protein either.
(Is anyone running a Supercomputer to keep count of the wrongs here, mere Ordinarycomputers haven’t a hope-in-hell)

So, mountains of mashed up sand eel make their way to Scotland – to what have got to be The Most Hideous Wrongs even devised, second only to some grotesque combination of leper colony, meets ghetto meets concentration camp.
Salmon Farms

Where the hapless fishes are fed a diet, although close to waht the should eat, is horribly horribly wrong. But the salmon are given no choice, just as the EU and all other Western Governments give No Choice when they tell everyone to: Eat Sugar.

Strictly of course: Eat sugar or I will tax you into extinction
It is patently working and baby production has fallen off a cliff.

The People instinctively realise that that is wrong.
BUT, as they scramble around, paranoid & panic stricken in the wreckage that once was their own minds, they actually beleive The Story that:
You’re not making babies because you’re rich – here have some more Fructose Syrup to eat. That’ll make your Worry and Concern go away.
And it does. For some. For a while

While the captive Salmon become ill and then: We eat them.
Making ourselves even more ill.
But it’s OK, they’ve got Omega Oil in them.

While mountains of the most foul stink (we all know what rotten fish smell lie) builds up under the pens/nets where the salmon are kept and proceeds to poison vast areas of ocean where, oddly enough, Sand Eels and Puffins once thrived

But they all died because of ‘Climate Change’

Feel free to break down and cry your little heart out, there’s nothing else you can possibly do- – unless you are a sugar eater.
Then you’ll be convinced that:”Things have never been better

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing” is an epic understatement – and – will make a near perfect epitaph for Humanity.

PETA (people eating tasty animals) of Newark, could you work in some comments about spray-on deodorant and girly men? I think you would have a grand expose then. Thanks.

PETA you’re always entertaining albeit not intentionally.

We’re not supposed to eat “sugar” by which you mean carbohydrates of all forms.

We’re not supposed to drink any alcohol.

We’re not supposed to eat protein “in any great amount either”.

And now we’re not supposed to eat omega oil. I may have a faulty memory from all that “sugar” and *gasp* alcohol, but I believe you also told us that vegetable oils are also bad?

So what is your diet exactly? Seems like suet, lard, and butter? Washed down with water?

Also Farne Island puffins, the subject of an alarmist BBC reporting, are doing just fine.

According to the National Trust:

Puffin count results 2021

Although the pandemic made conducting the puffin count in 2020 and 2021 more difficult, rangers put in place a good system of monitoring to ensure vital data could still be collected. In 2021, 36,211 breeding pairs of Atlantic puffins were recorded across four islands, compared to 42,378 pairs across eight islands in 2019.

Numbers appeared to drop in 2021 due to the team being unable to carry out a full survey. However, it’s anticipated that a return to a full census in 2022 will lead to a more accurate picture. This year’s count is therefore a very important one for these popular seabirds.

Although the pandemic made conducting the puffin count in 2020 and 2021 more difficult”

Why?? Are puffins only found in densely packed indoor urban environments??

No, because the counters were in lockdown.

It doesn’t matter that they are doing fine. The models have proven that they are going to die, one of these days, and as every good alarmist knows, one must never question models that are producing the results you want to see.

Deniers just don’t get it. Any time things get catastrophic, they first have to get dangerously normal or deceivingly improved.

Look at the plight of the polar bears, the bald eagles, hawks, coyotes, deer, just about every kind of wildlife that have seen their numbers rise during my lifetime. They’re all going extinct next Tuesday probably.

The alarmists are searching desperately for a different icon for their climate disaster fiction. The polar bears are not only refusing to die out, they’re increasing in numbers and pictures of fat bears and reports from the likes of Susan and the Inuits have really negated their narrative.

You misspelled “complicit”.

I simply laugh at alarmist stories these days – more people are awakening to the deceit – this silliness will end

Puffins are among the favored birds….those not killed by windmills. If puffins died from windmills, it would be ignored.

When I lived in Iceland one of the first things we were told was to leave the Puffins alone or face heavy fines or worse.

Puffins were a source of food for many remote places. Removing them from food chain has allowed the population to bloom.
